Cooltone mini fridge keeps tunes, beverages on tap
As far as gadget-enhanced fridges go, this Cooltone one leaves a bit to be desired, but it still packs enough unnecessary excess to attract some attention, although actual sales might be another matter. On the fridge side of things, it'll hold twenty 400ml cans and it boasts a so-called Quick Cool feature that'll get things "cooling within seconds." On the less practical part of the equation, the fridge boasts a top-loading CD player, an AM/FM radio, some built-in speakers and, of course, a line-in port to accommodate your iPod or other MP3 player (no iPod dock though). That can all be controlled with the included remote, and the fridge can also be hooked up to some external speakers in case you prefer music that doesn't sound like it's coming out of a fridge. From the looks of it, the fridge is shipping now, with it setting you back £130 (or $264).

It's a real shame it's so damn ugly, won't see the inside of my house because of it. The plastic looks and colour scheme remind me of the £12 CD players you can get at any local supermarket

Great for cramped dorm rooms.
anonymouspimp @ Sep 11th 2007 5:27PM
I'd drag that out by the pool. why not?
(Pool + Tunes + Beer) > (Pool + going inside to get beer + no tunes)

I smell a mini-ITX casemod in the works.

I can take those $264 and buy a better fridge and still have money left over for some above-average speakers and snacks to fill the fridge. Since this is probably meant for offices/cubicles I can just listen to music out of my PC.
The only thing cool about this fridge is the Quick Cool feature, but who knows if that works as advertised or if it cools any faster than a compact fridge.

the one thing the rolly is missing....
Crooky @ Sep 11th 2007 6:09PM
Yeah but it would shake your beer up too much.
JamesMcVeigh @ Sep 11th 2007 6:06PM
Wow, that sentence about not wanting tunes that are coming out of a fridge actually made me laugh out loud. I'm impressed, Donald Melanson. I'm impressed.

It would be interesting to see how the manufacturer has overcome compressor motor vibrations & condensation issues.
Scooter @ Sep 11th 2007 7:22PM
what's with the used condom on top? Looks like somebody had a party and drank all the beer already.
Wwhat @ Sep 11th 2007 7:58PM
Looks would be ok if it wasn't so plasticy looking like it's worth 15 quid tops.
If you overprice stuff please do a little effort eh.
I bet that unwrapping it already scratches off that fake silver.
shane @ Sep 11th 2007 8:16PM
This is right up there with the TP dispenser, IPod holder :D
ZoR @ Sep 11th 2007 10:02PM
Quick cool feature is interesting. But without that plastic looking design, I'd buy one.
Josh @ Sep 11th 2007 11:51PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the "Quick Cool" feature simply starts cold air coming out of the refrigerator's cooling system in seconds. It does not actually cool anything more quickly than a pre-cooled refrigerator of similar specifications. If you want faster cooling try this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6884151&st=beverage+cooler&type=product&id=1095432669018

Ok, but where is small lcd tv, mini microwave, mini kettle and mini sink to wash your mug ? How I supposed to use it in the office without it ? If they make it all in one they should make it good ;)
GazzyC @ Sep 12th 2007 12:45PM
These have been in some Kwiksave stores here in the UK for a while, the store has shut down now anyways and of course they are as plasticky and cheap looking as in the picture!
