Considering a "2TB drive" as you refer to it is simply made up of 2 x 1TB drives in some kind of an external housing, you should see 2TB "drives" for under $500 when you see 1TB OEM internal Drives drop below $225 each. Right now they are $340 or higher. So I think you have a little ways to go.
Personally I would just be buying the WD7500AAKS (750GB) drives right now instead. They are fast and the price is falling on them almost every week. Put them in whatever kind of external housing you like if you dont want them internal.
