Ugh, not
more pictures of Palm's
Centro, you gasp. Yes... and much more. This time, it's the Centro nuzzled up for some quickie shots with Sprint's
Treo 755p and new
Vogue (that's,
HTC Touch to the rest of the world) and what must be Sprint's take on the new
OQO Model 02. A veritable who's who of soon to be launched Sprint handsets. Better yet, our tipster -- contrary to
previous reports -- "noticed little to no difference in typing on the QWERTY with the Centro to the Treo" while noting that the Centro was "much nicer to hold." He also says that the Vogue was running a 400MHz Qualcomm processor (not the standard OMAP 850) with 256MB ROM / 120MB RAM which suffered "no slowdown" even while running 15-20 applications. Check out all the sneaky pictures in the gallery below. Oh, as to the device to the right of the Vogue and below the OQO: that's a mystery, any ideas?
Update: That other handset turns out to be the LG Rumor, which looks to be positioned for the Facebook and MySpace messaging crowd. More on this later.
[Thanks, Catharsis and Stephen]
That OQO is still to expensive for me, but it must "challenging" to say the least, to run Vista on a lowly C7-M.
I am still awaiting the vogue (touch);
however I am curious of whats to come about the Palm 800w for sprint.
With all this information about the Palm 500, and the Palm Centro; makes me wonder if the 800w will take on the same look...
So, maybe I missed it, but I didn't see what the name of the device was which is to the right of the HTC Touch, beneath the OQO Model 02.
Any ideas?
Y did you water marked this pics, do you watermark every pic readers send in?
HTC CDMA devices now use Qualcomm dual-core processors, as opposed to the older TI OMAP processors. This cuts costs and improves overall performance, albeit with a decreased standby battery life. The HTC PPC-6800 Mogul also features a Qualcomm processor, the same one in the HTC Vogue/CDMA Touch.

That's an HTC S720, from the looks of it. Guess Sprint is getting it after all!
And just IMHO, but the Centro is going to sell EXTREMELY well if Sprint puts any marketing into it.
Sorry to burst the bubble Erwos, its dubbed the Rumor by Sprint and its made by LG. Don't know the model number, just know its not an HTC device.
Sprint has a pretty kick ass lineup for the 4th quarter.

"...noticed little to no difference in typing on the QEWRTY..."
Brilliant -- I always thought the W and E keys should have been reversed!
I hear typing on those small keyboards is tricky though.
Question about the oqo will that be available for purchase and use on the sprint network>>>???
Nice that they have the OQO locked up. Smart move.
Did the tipster say anything about the weight of the Centro?
The centro is lighter than the palm, that is part of what made it easier to hold.
As far as the centro qwerty like i said it has little to no diferance in use between Treo, My personal feelings are that palm keyboards are to small to begin with the Mogul is much easier to use and i personally use a 8525
The LG was neat to use but i found nothign special about it, standard non smart phone qith qwerty
And here is my friend with the OQO in hand

Catharsis, Did the Touch have Wifi?
Can anybody confirm if the Rumor does or does not have GPS?
luv u....gimmi some!
sorry my bad...happy clicker...sorry again!
everyone can use a creepy elvis head!
I'm furious at OQO. I bought my Model 15 weeks ago, and it has been having lock-up problems since the day I received it. It's still under the 1-year warranty, so I thought I was covered, right? Well, it turns out that their tech supports is very unreliable. In retrospect, I *should* have returned it within the 30-day money back guarrantee and suffered the 15% restocking fee, but it's far too late for that now.
I've re-imaged it twice myself, and for the past 15 weeks, have been following OQO tech support's instructions in trying to figure out the issue. I've even sent it in for repair, and all they did was add scratches to it, and send it back to me still broken! I've been paying $60/month on top of that to Sprint, for a device that I cannot use for more than 15 minutes before it locks up!
Because of all of this, I recently asked for a return-for-credit, or at least allow me to upgrade to the newer model (I offered to pay the difference), but after 20 days, I got denied. They're saying that I'm effectively stuck with this broken unit, but that they're willing to re-image it themselves (never mind that they've already scratched it up)!
I'm fed up with this. 15 weeks of this is enough. I urge you to heed this warning and STAY AWAY from OQO! Even if you get a unit that works properly right out of the box, if anything goes wrong with it, you're likely to get tremendous headaches dealing with their tech support/customer support.
Furiously,
-Dan.
If anyone's interested, I'll keep updating the full transcripts of my conversations with OQO at: http://dan.bourque.googlepages.com/oqotroubles
