TomTom to provide embedded PND for Toyota's Yaris
While we've certainly heard quite a lot about Toyota and its purported partnerships of late, the most recent one looks to be fairly set in stone. Reportedly, TomTom announced at the Frankfurt auto show that "the latest Toyota Yaris will come with the option to include a TomTom portable navigation device (PND) as part of the vehicle's built-in radio system." Apparently, the device will be "embedded into the radio system" itself and will provide "full radio integration with the car's speakers." Not a bad option for a low-end ride, we say.[Via Stuff]

toyotas pretymutch rule, i have 200k miles on mine
Whoopdy do, Bazel! Toyota trucks had more recalls than cars sold in 2005+2006! You people make me laugh!
@ steve
um... my toyota still has almoste 200k miles whether you like it or not. plus it gets like 30 mpg, buy a toyota before you start judgeing them.
It's about freakin' time! What's the incremental cost to the manufacturer, what maybe $100?!?
Yeah, Toyota's are cool, an the Yaris is nothing like a Toyota, cuz it sucks donkey rear.
buy a REAL CAR and you'll get a navigation device - OEM factory installed.
It is 12:15 Where is the give away post? I guess I will just go to bed now.
-Desmond
I think someone else went to bed a bit to early...
I think they're out of stuff... although 32 * 3 < 100
Ya, maybe they ran home to look for some stuff to give away--I'm sure they have a few freebies laying about gathering dust :)
I think they broke.... give too many giveaway?
Well I hope THIS counts for my entry. Since this giveaway my internal clock has reset for engadget giveaway time and now they go and throw it all out wack! Fecking bastards!
:)
Top 100.
Time for a new GPS
GPS? Yummy
Actually a nice thing since the TomTom docks into the speed signal of the car to provide guidance also in tunnels. Additionally the thing carries Bluetooth and iPod connectivity including browsing via the TomTom's touch screen. For use on the go or updating waypoints etc you can remove the TomTom at any time and use it on battery.
Already started selling in Europe, see a picture at

Of course the other European option of having the other head units combined with Toyota's TNS300 DVD navigation unit remains available
This is simply a Toyota rebadge of the Eclipse (Fujitsu) AVN2210P. This unit is already available - for any car - at Circuit City, Best Buy or your local stereo shop.

you're great!
Doesn't make me want to buy a Yaris though...
Low end my ass, I have the AYGO which is even smaller and I wouldn't trade it for a BMW...
Well I would but then I'd sell the BMw and buy a new AYGO!
