TomTom to provide embedded PND for Toyota's Yaris
While we've certainly heard quite a lot about Toyota and its purported partnerships of late, the most recent one looks to be fairly set in stone. Reportedly, TomTom announced at the Frankfurt auto show that "the latest Toyota Yaris will come with the option to include a TomTom portable navigation device (PND) as part of the vehicle's built-in radio system." Apparently, the device will be "embedded into the radio system" itself and will provide "full radio integration with the car's speakers." Not a bad option for a low-end ride, we say.[Via Stuff]

Actually a nice thing since the TomTom docks into the speed signal of the car to provide guidance also in tunnels. Additionally the thing carries Bluetooth and iPod connectivity including browsing via the TomTom's touch screen. For use on the go or updating waypoints etc you can remove the TomTom at any time and use it on battery.
Already started selling in Europe, see a picture at

Of course the other European option of having the other head units combined with Toyota's TNS300 DVD navigation unit remains available

This is simply a Toyota rebadge of the Eclipse (Fujitsu) AVN2210P. This unit is already available - for any car - at Circuit City, Best Buy or your local stereo shop.

Low end my ass, I have the AYGO which is even smaller and I wouldn't trade it for a BMW...
Well I would but then I'd sell the BMw and buy a new AYGO!
