8GB iriver clix 2 now available in US
Yeah, we know our overseas brethren have been toying with their 8GB clix 2 DAPs for awhile now, but as these things usually go, we Americans are celebrating late. Nevertheless, the US iriver store is now offering up the 8GB clix 2 for purchase, and it still touts that lovable 2.2-inch AMOLED display, an FM tuner, integrated voice recorder, up to 24-hours of battery life, and USB 2.0 connectivity. All yours for $239.99.

Same problem as iPod Touch.
Big beautiful screen for big beautiful videos.
Teeny, Tiny little storage capacity to hold no big beautiful videos.
it can hold plenty of videos, the iriver plus 3 program it comes with converts them to a pretty modest size.
Back when the Ipod was new, i bought the Rio Carbon....and LOOK! the "new" ipod nano looks a lot like it!! ><
God i wish Rio's were still around......they were a class above the competition back in the day LOL
btw mine still works flawlessly and w/ custom firmware and it looks sooo sexy ^_^
This is an amazing unit. Until Apple matches the 1) sound quality and 2) wma support of the Clix, I will not be buying an iPod. Period. You'd figure that with all the tech at their disposal that Apple would have improved their DAC and announced it last week. Obviously, sound is not what people are into. They obviously don't own Shure E500's.
What video codecs does it support?
And can you use it with OS X?
yeah, this thing went on sale the 10th, you have to dig on the iRiver website to find it; their website is flashy, but not well updated or thought out.
considering this thing was slated for late spring / early sumer, its about time.
Ordered it the other day...should be here soon. Bastards charged me sales tax fwiw
i love my 4 GB clix2 and if i ever buy another pmp, it'll be the 16 gig one they eventually come out with! seriously, this thing is to die for. beats ipods any ol' day. i paid $180 USD for mine [including shipping!] and i figure this price jump is almost reasonable. such a beautiful little toy, seriously.
I got my 4 gb clix a while ago and I love it. I enjoy the ability to customize the themes, a minor thing but I can't believe no one mentioned it. I mean iriver personally works for me because I wanted a sleek flash player and I don't need to carry 50 million songs with me.
The battery life on my model is actually holding up really well compared to the ipod I had before.

whoever compares this iriver masterpeace with the ipod crap, should be shot!
Sometimes, I wish I could break away completely from the iPods, but I'm so used to iTunes. I have 5 iRiver products (iFP-180T/395T, T10 2GB and a couple of MP3 CD players) and to be honest I like my T10 a little more than my 8GB Nano. The quality and all of the additional features are great. I would consider the Clix if there was a 16GB version . Then again, I'll probably consider a 3G Nano when Apple decides to release a 16GB version and/or a 32GB iPod Touch.
too little too late. when i first saw this i wanted one. it looks great, the ui is fantastic and the screen looks brilliant. yet it is only 8gig, and it has no expansion slot.... creative are coming out with it's zen. 16gig, sd card slot, support for divx.... sorry iriver but once again you have sat on a great product for far too long. maybe you wont waste so much time with the clix3
to steal a line from the NFL
I WANT THAT
I'm torn between thius and the new zen. I was original set on this, but now im leaning towards the zen because of the price. Which do you guys think i should get?
Finally!
to battery acid... i think the zen is winning out. expansion slot is a huge bonus if you got a huge music collection/divx's. plus price is also very important.
I'm trying to find the actual dementions of the 8GB clix gen 2. On Amazon it says 6x4x1.7 (or something like that) But, the 4GB says much smaller. Like, 3.5x2x1.something. Can someone please let me know how large/small the 8GB is? BTW, I have the Cowon iAudio 7 and have my ears fitted from an audiologist with Shure SE530PTH and Cowon and iRiver are easily the 2 best available. BUT...Cowon wins for sound and Clix wins for video/user friendly. Which is why I want both.
