Apple "Mum is no longer the word" press briefing in London next week
Word on the high street is that Apple is holding a press briefing at their Regent Street Apple store on September 18th. The invites are circulating as we speak to various members of the UK press. That's not exactly the biggest of venues for a 3G iPhone launch for Europe but who knows? Really, does anybody know?

I may just pop by to see whats going on (^_^)
upon asking the apple staff they dont appear to know one is happening. this is a chat i just had with the online apple store chat
"Hi, my name is Emer. Welcome to Apple!
You: Hi, i hear there is going to be a press conference in the regents street store on 18th sept, will i still be able to get into the store on that day?
Emer: This is news to me!!"
soo.. Hoax??
The upcoming European iPhone will be no different than the US iPhones. No 3G, no GPS, etc.
What about the recent deal that came to light with InterDigital? Points to 3G iPhone...
Also, it looks like InterDigital offers a dual 2G/3G solution...does anyone know anything more about this? Could Apple put the same chip in its US and European models, and then "turn on" 3G capabilities in the US when the network is ready?
If you want to unlock your iPhone, i've written two manuals to unlock your iPhone for FREE! In English in Dutch: http://www.theiphoneunlock.com/free-unlock/ have fun!

Reuters is reporting O2 in the UK, T-Mobile in Germany, and Orange in France. I also found this sentence somewhat interesting:
"...give Apple a share of data revenues and, in an unprecedented move, a share of voice revenues generated by the new phones."
Ka-ching...
You all are missing the boat... UK/London announcement? Simply... The Beatles on iTunes.
If it was the Beatles on iTunes they would have one it at the Liverpool Apple Centre, the MCC one.
Beatles-on-iTunes announcement perhaps?
UK iPhone announcement. Ringo and Paul come on stage to announce Beatles partnership with iTunes.
I thought Beatles on iTunes when I read this, but I'm just a wishful thinking yank beatle nut.
AHHH F**CK YOU APPLE! Jesus christ! I save up for months and then think 'well theres never gunna be a UK iPhone' so I spend all my savings [im 15 by the way] on pre-ordering an iPod touch now this! All I can say is that I almost want it not to be a UK iPhone!
you CAN cancel your pre order... i already did and got all my money back
Stoomaster: "Mobile phone" just sounds more proper to american ears, so that's probably why Jobs called the iPhone a mobile phone, but most people I know have dropped the cell and just call them phones. Eg: Where's my phone? Can I borrow your phone? Who's phone is ringing, etc.
add all of the numbers for the buses that stop outside the apple shop on the invite, they add up to 1002, 10am start of the event and the 02 network maybe??? i think that is a possibility people?!?!? Comments...
unfastened coins......
what?
Is the Liverpool Apple Centre large enough to host the invited media?
No.
Well, we all know it's either gonna be the Beatles on iTunes or a European iPhone. Apple hasn't said a WORD on both, but they said they were working out a deal with EMI back when EMI went DRM-less to bring the Beatles to the digital realm. And they have't said a single thing about Europe's iPhone at all since it was announced.
Now if both were announced...
I was just in this store 2 weeks ago and charged my iphone on one of the displays... how ironic...
It's gonna be the launch of the Beatle's catalogue on iTunes, with a Beatle's iPod, similar to the U2 one, loaded up with the catalogue. No way would they announce a european iPhone in the Apple Store.
Mum's no longer the word
Spread the word. The Word is Love.
That screams The Beatle's, has absolutely nothing to do with an iPhone. 'All you need is Love".
Paul and Ringo are releasing the UK iPhone which comes bundled with a new app called iWish. Basically it allows Paul and Ringo to start a conference call with John and George so they can record a new album. App also has iBlock which stops Yoko from attending any of the recording sessions. Also if you turn the UK iPhone backwards it says "Paul is Dead".
If, as the guy who works in the store said: "Basically the boxes are cube and just under a meter cubed...", how could it be an iPhone? ... Unless they packed a new iMac or Mac Pro in there as well.
maybe there is more than one phone in the box!!!! you fool!
they are going to have lots of whatever it is, not just one or two.
On the Apple store site, it says
"Due to a private event, the store will be closed on Tuesday September 18th until 4.00 pm. We apologise for any inconvenience."
10am till 4pm a while for a simple adding something on Itunes launch?
Iphone! Iphone!
What ever way I can see Money falling out of my wallet!
