AH HA HA HA HA!
Fire Extinguisher Hero! I can't wait for it to be available in HD.
@Chad:
want it in HD huh? I think they should make a PS3 game just for this, or at least in the Wii with the Wiimote :D
I once played an arcade game, I believe it was called fire fighter, where you aim a fire hose at the screen to put out the fire. Does that count for something?
Oh yeah I played that at Chuck E. Cheese. I spent like $50 on it and finally beat it. lol
I thought of that game as soon as I saw this post. Maybe someone can develop a DIY hack so it can be used on a tv.
So basically it will extinguish on screen virtual fires, but you're screwed if you have a real one in your house? lol
ya. to take that comment furthur, I'm pretty sure you're screwed THANKS to this device if there acctually IS a fire.
"NO NO! not THAT extinguiser! THAT one's FAKE! the OTHER one!"
too late...
I'm surprised that the health and safety brigade haven't required that it be painted a different colour to red, to lessen the likelihood of confusion. Mind you, you'd have to be pretty unlucky (or dumb) if a fire broke out at the fire training centre, and all you tried to use was the fire extinguisher plugged into the telly, rather than the ones mounted on the wall.
you can't even see where the base of the flame is on that screen, it's just all yellow. A lot of help that does.
The base is at the bottom of the display, where there is no more flames.
I mean, if you are going to make fun of a product--do it right, man.
Lemmiiee gimmie try
Look at how he's holding that thing. What's next? A laser pointer to assist you in the men's room?
As a man, I've had years of experience and don't believe I'll need a "laser" to help me aim. My camping experience has defnitely given me the "know-how" when it comes to aiming at the base of the fire and sweeping from left to right.
Ok, this thing is beyond dumb
Actually, when you look at the costs for training and wasting extinguisher propellant (Halotron's cost $28 per lb to recharge...and they average 11-15 lbs per extinguisher). So this idea is welcome to Fire department training facilities looking at keeping costs down. hahahah...keeping costs down..with your tax money! hahahaha.
WHAT IF YOU BATTERY RUNS OUT / ELECTRICTY IS OUT?!
dun dun dun dunnnnn.....
then you cant hone your fire extinguisher skills. bummer.
Thats why they trust Duracell
yea, i played that like 8 years ago when i was in Hong Kong
So are you even going to be able to see these fancy lights when you are pointing them at a real freaking fire?
Well maybe because this isn't a real fire extinguisher. :/
Does it also teach you about the different types of fire extinguishers? If i remember correctly, 1 type doesn't fit all :D.
I've gotten quite familiar with fire extinguishers. I didn't need a game to do it...
The hose does want to move from the fire fighting medium (dry chem, AFFF, CO2) traveling through it. Does this simulate that?
whats the fun in that
i mean doesnt fire make everyone happy....
Who needs to put out the fire!
JJ
I'm sure in the end it will end up being cheaper just to use a real fire and fire extinguisher.
A fire extinguisher simulator must have the weight, noise, dust, and force of the real thing. This laser thing may as well be a video.
Cheaper and better to build a little fire out back and use a real extinguisher, IMHO.
A "MOCK fire extinguisher"? A fire extinguisher that looks exactly like a REAL fire extinguisher but doesn't do a goddamn thing to put out fire? How wonderful, does it come with a wall mounted, see-through glass cabinet too?
I don't know why the building burned down. I pulled the pin and pressed the lever but I didn't see any laser beams so I thought it was broken. So I went to find another one and it was broken too. Every one I tried was broken.
Soooo How loing untill they make this for the Wii?
lol
interesting... a classmate of mine tried to make something similar for a project about a year ago... looked a whole lot better than this
Might be a good idea if the idiot in the pic held that thing properly - you are supposed to wrap your hand over the hose (so that your thumb is close to you) not like you hold your dick. That way, if flash-up occurs and you raise your hand/arm to protect yourself you don't blow your load into your eyes.
New for the Nintendo Wii...
I worked in a hospital for several years and had to teach the nurses how to use the extinguisher. The hardest part was the order of things - pull the pin, squeeze the handle, sweep the base of the fire. Every year someone would panic, reverse the first two items and the drill would be a failure. Nothing beats a real fire and a real extinguisher to teach you what you need to know.
Um... yeah....
Wow. This has to be the dumbest product ever. The people that actually need training to use a fire extinguisher AND aim it right will probably be so stupid that they would just run into the fire anyways. You can forget drop and roll, those idiots are the ones that run everywhere catching the rest of us on fire.. just like good ol' Postal 2.
I would laugh if it caused a real fire with shotty wiring!
