iUnlock Reloaded: free iPhone unlocking for dummies now available

Wake the kids, phone the neighbors, the graphical new version of the iPhone unlocking software is now out, official, automatic (or as much as it can be) and free. Developed by the iPhoneDev team, the new software makes opening up your iPhone to any GSM carrier simple as pie. According to the Dev Team, "This new version needs only be copied over to the phone and executed, it's full automatic. No more needs for fls or extract bin files out of the nordump. It should also cut the time down to max. 3-5 minutes."

We'll bring you more just as soon as we get hands-on with the new wares (eh hem, all our iPhones seem to be unlocked at the moment) and as long as Apple doesn't drop the hammer with a new iPhone firmware release. We know it's coming, and chances are it will wreak havoc with the unlock.

Hello Guys!

I got to the point of Jailbreaking my new iphone with ibrickr 0.8 and uploading the 3 new files from the new post "iunlock_reloaded" into my iphone into a folder. Can you guys tell me how to run the iUnlock_reloaded file in my iPhone? Do I still need to use any other software to run the file???

@janglicheetah, I bought my iPhone (8GB) like a week ago and updated the firmware to the required version of 1.0.2 to unlock it as advised here. So, you should be able to do so too.

I have tried out the iUnlock_reloaded tutorial, but ran into a few glitches.

First, I would like to thank the iPhone Dev Team, this is really amazing accomplishment, and reading up on all your work has made for a fun weekend.

I have one follow-up question for anyone who has a spar moment. I loaded the script as described and received the following message:

90%
95%
Done
Sending End Secpack command
Validating the write command
FW are equal!
Resetting baseband
Unlocking...
Testing unlock status...
==> Still locked :(
Restarting Commcenter
The Flash succeeded but the unlocked failed

Then, I did a hard reboot of the iPhone, reinstalled the iPhone_reloaded, changed my SIM card, and tried to run it again, but than received this message:

Detected FW Version: 31408
Patching FW
Couldn't locate bytes to pach

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great!

I'm going by the experiences of my T-Mobile friends here in Arizona. The coverage area here is significantly sparser than A T & T. The cost for phone service is $40 for 400 minutes vs. $40 for 300 minutes on T-Mobile. All that being said, if I could get dependable Edge coverage + T-Mobile hotspot coverage for $20 per month, it would be very attractive. However, Apple didn't pick T-Mobile as their partner so for me it is a non-issue. I refuse to break my iPhone every 2 months when Apple does an update to the iPhone.

Someone please help.

And I got up to the 3rd of 4 steps. I basically finished installing community sources, bsd subsystem, and openSSH.

Then all of a sudden the website crashed so I can't read the rest of the instructions. I should almost be done.

Can anybody help me out with what to do next, preferably someone who used this method or tutorial? Thanks!

but what about actually activating the damn thing in order to unlock it?

ive had a look and there doesnt seem to be any easy way to activate it that i can find, unless im unaware of some easy way to do it. all the methods ive come accross involve lots of scripting and coding and such, and while im far from a noob, i'm NOT confidant in my abilities with stuff like that.

so i could buy an iphone, ship it to australia and unlock it....but not activate it in order to unlock it...gaah

HI, I UNLOCKED MY IPHONE AND IT WAS WORKING FINE, THEN I DECIDED TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE ON ITUNES TO 1.1.2 (LIKE AN IDIOT) NOW IT DOESNT WORK AND WHEN I PLUG IT IN IT GOES STRAIGHT TO RECOVERY MODE AND THE SCREENS ON ITUNES SAYS TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST APPLE STORE.
