HP has a whole lotta' new laptops to launch, possibly at a press conference this Tuesday if
Notebook Italia is on the money. The designations are a real mouthful, so brace yourself: in all, we could be looking at Pavilions numbered dv2600, d6600, dv9600, and tx1300, and new HP G7000 and HP G6000's also coming in the form of Compaq Presario F700 and F500 models. There are a crazy amount of specs here, so it's probably safe to say that there is a machine to suit your requirements. Screen sizes range from 12.1 inch with the tx1300 up to 17 inches with the dv9600, CPUs range from 1.6GHz Core Duos and 1.7GHz Athlons up to 2.2GHz Core 2 Duos and ... well, you get the point. Most notably, the new dv models include HDMI among their image output ports, with the dv2600 featuring some kind of fancy new print on the outer casing (pictured above). For a more detailed listing, check the read links below. Fortunately, spec sheets don't require translation.

Might be worth mentioning that HP's TX line are all touchscreen/tablet laptops?
wsw523 @ Sep 16th 2007 6:58PM
sweet.
Peppie @ Sep 16th 2007 9:05PM
Makes me proud to be using an HP.
ark_v2 @ Sep 16th 2007 10:20PM
Why, if it isn't one of those XD
RedBull Runner @ Sep 16th 2007 7:01PM
That thing is so sexy. I would grab that in a heartbeat.
FrankTheCrank @ Sep 16th 2007 7:10PM
You've got to give HP props....their stuff is really nice.
I used to roll out Dell's a couple of years ago...I now work for another company that rolls HP, and I've been pretty impressed with their hardware.
I roll my own, so no OEM PC for me.
feffrey @ Sep 16th 2007 7:11PM
ARG!!!
I just bought the tx1000!
feffrey @ Sep 16th 2007 7:18PM
After looking at the specs and it looks the same except the bigger hard drive. why not upgrade the vid card at least?
bob e @ Sep 16th 2007 7:12PM
HP is off the chain with there new line!~
now apples gonna be weeping
John @ Sep 16th 2007 7:53PM
Apple? Who uses Apple? There products are expensive, don't have as much capability, etc. They only thing there good at is the way they look.
BigPana @ Sep 16th 2007 8:28PM
Except for the fact that you can run windows on apple machines...
Alex @ Sep 16th 2007 9:32PM
You bought a mac to run windows? And mac can do everything I need to do on a pc and look good like John said.
John Doe @ Sep 17th 2007 12:20AM
John you are full of shit. Mac's aren't about just design. Its about ballance. Of course you could throw the biggest damn vid card in there along with 2 hard drives and a heat sink the size of South America. Mac's are fucking gaming rigs. They aren't designed to run Bioshock with every feature turned to max. They are designed to do work. Period. And not just your average buisness apps. But graphics design and such as well without having a shit load of overkill on hardware. Again Macs are about balancing weight/size/features/speed in one slick package. Does apple occasionally get the fromula wrong. Shit I will be the first to say yes with the results being what you see in the iBook recall a few years ago. But usually they do a pretty damn good job overall.
Now before someone bitches that I'm a Steve Jobs poll smoking fanboi. Let me tell you I've pissed off more then a few people on Macrumors and other sites because frankly I don't give a shit about Apple. Its a damn computer not a religion. When I like an Apple product I have no qualms about saying so. And likewise when I think Apple and Jobs suck ass I have no problems saying so. Overall Apple's laptop and desktop wares are pretty damn good.
riggs @ Sep 17th 2007 8:23AM
macs are gaming rigs? if that aint the biggest crock of shit on this page, i dont know what is.
Michael La Framboise @ Sep 16th 2007 7:28PM
Well, I always did like the exteriors on hp laptops - they always were pretty; however note when I say exteriors I mean only the top; the bottom and all the sides are the generic ugly, holed and sticker-infested plastic...
And then you open it up and the all keys feel like they're falling out... that plus the few keys w/ some ugly blue lights just look plain horrible at both day and night.
But then again who am I to judge - I mean with me being used to the finer things in life w/ Macs 'n all... Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash the PC industry or anything like that, but just after using the MBP (and the PB) before it, I see what a joke the production quality of most PC's is compared to Macs - even throw the OS aside - the hardware just feels solid, everything feels in place, nothing feels like its gonna fall off...
But that all said, I'll still be the first to jump over to the dark side if the PC industry releases something I like. Hell, not like any company is paying me to praise them or to use their products...
John Sinshack @ Sep 16th 2007 8:01PM
I'm gonna have to agree with ya on that, the top of my laptop looks fine but the rest looks really crappy.
Apple, among a few others, understands that design doesn't end on the top cover.
dj-kenpo @ Sep 16th 2007 8:16PM
Most of my friends have powerbooks, and I've got to say, if you're critiquing build quality on hp, sure I'm there too, but I have seen one too many powerbooks crack wide open as their lcd hinge fails and breaks. I don't think they're a good thing to compare to as far as quality goes.. I'm in love with the illuminated keyboards, and I've been known to install the mac OS on pc's when desired, but I won't call them built to last.
I personally enjoy the older compaq evo line. A lot of them were the business notebooks. plain in style but pretty darn solid, good quality metal casing. not enough power for most users, but us coders with txt's don't need as much...
KJ @ Sep 16th 2007 7:28PM
so this is the explaination for that crazy good 30% off deal....glad i held off
DickHardknocks @ Sep 16th 2007 7:29PM
I'm happy to see HP releasing fantastic products. Their latest laptops, especially with webcams built in, are simply fantastic.
My only dissapointment is that their series lettering system is extremely confusing and makes it very difficult to determine which computer is highest on the chain.
It would help if they had a color coded chart showing basic - Extreme so a lay buyer would be able to make an informed choice.
Micheal Hill @ Sep 16th 2007 7:37PM
The new HP Pavilion TX1300 convertible tablet notebook is available on HP's site through a backdoor link: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/vn/en/ho/WF06a/1090709-1116637-1116665-1116665-1116665-80627768.html
It looks sweet! And to think, I was just about to order the TX1000. Thanks, Engadget, for saving me!
Apple Sux @ Sep 16th 2007 7:39PM
HP is kicking ass lately esp. with the Blackbird 002(drool...drool) ;)
Mitch R. @ Sep 16th 2007 7:40PM
HP has been making some sexy looking laptops lately.
BrianC @ Sep 16th 2007 8:08PM
HP has got my attention lately with their desktop and laptop and handheld offerings. I think they are getting quite innovative. I wish them luck as push the PCs to a level up.
Zadillo @ Sep 16th 2007 8:17PM
I don't really get why HP still refuses to make a version of the tx with Intel chips. Is there any explanation for it?
Also, I really wish HP would make a version of the tx with an active digitizer. The passive digitizer is ok for touching, but it is really a pain for writing..... an active digitizer would be a lot better. Gateway has a 12" tablet now that is wacom penabled and has a similar price as the tx, so I'm not sure why HP can't do something similar.
The tx is a nice little laptop, but a wacom digitizer and a cooler running Intel chip would be a lot nicer.
Nikos @ Sep 16th 2007 8:36PM
Why they didn't include in DV9600 resolution of 1900 X 1200 for full HD support???
SXGA 1680 X 1050 is not even 1080p.
Thats the only and very important negative for me.
Hypenotist @ Sep 16th 2007 8:49PM
If it's not a new screen on the tx it's still crummy. I own the tx1000 and while I love the weight and features of it, the screen is terrible and the pen and touchscreen are useless. It's a very attractive but the screen is abysmal.
feffrey @ Sep 16th 2007 9:40PM
really? Mine is extremely bright and I fairly see the graininesses of it most of the time.
for the touch screen I went through all of the handwriting recognition training it it works pretty good for me.
Ross @ Sep 16th 2007 8:51PM
HP looks like its taking the reins on the good design that its users want. Although the HDMI out isnt a new feature, I just bought a dv6500 a month ago and it already has an HDMI out. Looking forward to seeing what HP can push in coming months. A smaller more affordable Blackbird would sell a ton in my opinion.
Fadi @ Sep 25th 2007 2:22AM
Hey Ross,
I know this is somewhat off topic, but I noticed that you said you had recently purchased the dv6500t. Well I received my dv6500t last Friday. One thing I noticed is that the model number on the laptop says HP Pavilion dv6000. Did I receive the wrong model or is this the base model for when customizing? In other words, does your laptop say dv6500 or dv6000? Let me know, thanks.
Ian @ Sep 16th 2007 9:55PM
I really wish someone would come up with a decent naming convention for each company, rather than just seemingly random letters and numbers. They're not as bad as Nokia, but this is pretty close.
Fruition @ Sep 16th 2007 10:05PM
Whoa, HDMI Out?!
This dv6000t user sure is jealous!
That dv2600 finish is nice, but I like my imprint finish the way it is. Overall I like HP's idea with the finishes covering some of the inside of the laptop too, adds some continuity to it.
steve ballmer @ Sep 16th 2007 10:11PM
Makes the Macbooks look primitive!
coffeepot64 @ Sep 16th 2007 11:38PM
For most consumers Pretty=good.
I like it, the design sure grabbed my attention, however the specs. are what keep it.
resource @ Sep 16th 2007 11:53PM
I was recommending Dell's new Inspiron line and HP's dv Pavillon line to friends and after hooking both of them up for friends, it's clear that the HP's are killing Dell.
gilo @ Sep 17th 2007 1:50AM
Beside the new print & hdmi what else is new that was worth skipping the 30% ?
I thought the dv9600 would have at least 8700GT .
Scooter @ Sep 17th 2007 4:27AM
HP shopping is shut. Maybe rebuilding the window display?

Scott F @ Sep 17th 2007 4:33AM
These are such ridiculously cool laptops. I have the DV6000 and it's been a fantastic laptop for 9 months now. I shall definitely be buying another HP!
elvisvasquez @ Sep 17th 2007 8:50AM
well looks like I may have to check HP line up, that way I get a good laptop
BB @ Sep 17th 2007 9:12AM
I see they bumped the CPUs on the 1300s (I've got a 1200 series i bought @ CIrcuit City about a month ago). Mine's a 1.9Ghz with 2GB RAM, 160GB HD. I think the main diff. is the 2.2Ghz CPU on the high end (which in spec compares closely to mine. Any design changes anyone notice?
Impulse @ Sep 17th 2007 9:18AM
I hope HP doesn't forget Canada this time.
Still can't find a dv2500 ANYWHERE. But now I have the dv2600 to wait on (hopefully).
damien @ Sep 17th 2007 10:49AM
The previous dv's had HDMI out as well. This feature is not new as stated in the article.
npbeers @ Sep 18th 2007 2:11PM
Yeah, I just recently got the tx1000 and the tx1300 does not seem any different... maybe it includes slingplayer in quickplay like they've been talking about... that would be a neat feature...
llslice @ Sep 24th 2007 1:59AM
Went to the link that Micheal Hill provided.TX1300 has the same specs as the TX1000 I presently own.I was hoping they would have dropped in the Core 2 Duo.
Mo Smiley @ Sep 27th 2007 11:46AM
Wow, I am liking the new hp's. But for the dv9600t, the only difference I can really see is that it know supports up to 4gb of Ram, definitely a plus. I think someone mentioned this earlier, but what is up the low resolution? That was the only thing holding me back from this bad boy. I want the ultra screen, but 1440x900 seems low. Plus the video card remains at the 8600m GS, which isn't bad, but why not at least offer the 8700m GT? Lastly, anyone know if the imprints change?
JadedFuck @ Nov 17th 2007 10:58PM
Hey HP, consider adding a backlit keyboard. DUH!
