Steve Jobs arrives in London: jeans, turtleneck and New Balance expected soon
Listen folks, if you had even a slight bit of concern that tomorrow's "Mum is no longer the word" announcement from Apple was going to be anything less than monumental, you can now put those fears to bed. Steve Jobs, AKA El-Jobso, AKA the Jobs-man, AKA Jobbers is in London as we speak, undoubtedly standing in front of a full length mirror and practicing saying, "Oh, one more thing," with a fake British accent. You have been warned: there will be at least one human being in England tomorrow wearing stonewashed jeans and your dad's turtleneck.

I don't see the problem. If you remove the Apple postings, there are less postings. This was to confirm that Steve will be presenting the presentation. We weren't sure, now we are. This has become a slightly more major apple conference. Take an iChill iPill.
L @ Sep 17th 2007 5:13PM
All of this would have nicely fitted as an update on the presentation post - not a new post...
bruckwine @ Sep 17th 2007 5:38PM
True..but did it need another half a webpage as a separate entry or could it have been a footnote on the original blog entry? That said it's your blog guys so run with it!
axemte @ Sep 17th 2007 6:39PM
Well, it's their blog after all so those of us who are getting jaded with apple non-news should move elsewhere then. Most of the posts on this item agree that it's getting out of hand.
Jim Halpert @ Sep 17th 2007 5:05PM
Question will his keynote...be on the apple website..later on..???
rene @ Sep 17th 2007 7:40PM

Jim Halpert @ Sep 18th 2007 12:38AM
Question? Do you think they will reveal...apple laptops....OMGOMGOmg..lol k im done..
paulMASSACRE @ Sep 17th 2007 5:05PM
Gosh... let engadget post what they want!
Who cares!
I'm not a full on Apple fanboy, but I am actually quite excited he's here in the UK for once ;-]
Does it really offend some of you that they have posted one article that isnt relevant to *you* :P
Drew @ Sep 17th 2007 5:06PM
IT'S THE BEATLES ON ITUNES OMGWTFBBQ!!!
Jmore @ Sep 17th 2007 5:08PM
Hahaha, are you guys purposely trying to piss off your readership? I'm also an Apple-nut but this story is unnecessary.
Unless Steve fraks the Queen. Then I'd want to know. ASAP.
GazzyC @ Sep 17th 2007 5:09PM
*hugs tight* sexy emo boys :P
derek @ Sep 17th 2007 5:15PM
The story is about how it is going to be a large announcement because Steve Jobs is there. If it wasn't that big of announcement, he wouldn't be there. So they are reporting that it will be a big announcement, and building anticipation.
YankeeFan @ Sep 17th 2007 5:15PM
In all fairness, I think this post was in response to some arguments made that there wasn't going to be a keynote address, hence no big announcement.
This seems to just be a follow up mentioning something that had actual relevance to the possible announcement of a new gadget (i.e. the whole point of this site). If Jobs arrived in the UK, it does give iPhone rumor more a little more substance. (Substance? That may not be the word I'm looking for... it's been a long day at work)... (Credibility maybe? eh whatever).
Anyways, I'm not an Apple fan, don't own an iphone or mac or anything, and I kindof agree with the whole 'too much apple all the time' thinking, maybe they should have just made this an update on one of the earlier posts, but still, this isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.....ok..... go ahead...... low rank away...... :D
Andrew Brough @ Sep 17th 2007 5:17PM
Come Jobbs - 3G and unlimited data!
Juaquin @ Sep 17th 2007 5:26PM
Nice- but can you tell me where Dell's CEO is right now? How about Sony's? No, you say? Seriously Engadget - I can take all the iPhone stories, but a post announcing that some guy is now in some place?
YankeeFan @ Sep 17th 2007 5:38PM
Is Dell or Sony making an announcement tomorrow that people have been eagerly awaiting for months now? Seriously dude, get over it.
PeteC @ Sep 17th 2007 6:04PM
I refuse to buy one unless he gives the whole talk in a South London accent and is seen either eating a scone or enjoying a nice cup of tea afterwards. I'd also like to offer to take him out to a couple of nice pubs as long as he's buying.
Constable Odo @ Sep 17th 2007 6:24PM
If God appeared on your doorstep holding an iPhone, wouldn't you want to know? How about Satan? Inquiring people want to know these things.
David S. @ Sep 17th 2007 5:51PM
So the REAL question is... where is Paul McCartney? Anyone know of a webcam in the vicinity of Abbey Road? ;)
James Bishop @ Sep 17th 2007 6:09PM
Thath juth thou uptheting!!!!!
Thatth not a turtleneck!!!
Nick Bee @ Sep 17th 2007 6:22PM
Work will be interesting tomorrow - I'm an o2 salesperson in Birmingham, and we've been told to expect a large delivery tomorrow afternoon, and most of us have been rota'd in an hour extra after closing time. I'm pretty certain it's what everyone else is thinking, as are a few of my colleagues.
Stay tuned I guess!
Rich Gordon-Williams @ Sep 17th 2007 6:22PM
How did steve jobs get hold of my dad's turtleneck?
TeddyN @ Sep 17th 2007 6:41PM
There are other readers besides those in the U.S.! If there was an article saying that Steve Jobs was in your town doing a big announcement I don't think you'd be so upset. I live in London and think that it's really cool that Steve Jobs is here right now.

What do you guys think the chances are of Apple upping the iPhone to 16GB tomorrow? Apple loves multiple SKUs, and they really only have the 8GB right now. I would say there's a very, very small chance of 3G, but I pretty good chance 16GB will make its debut.
Fred @ Sep 17th 2007 6:48PM
All this iPhone nonsense is good news for the consumer in the UK. I've gone from wanting one to not wanting one if it does turn out to use EDGE and on o2 - their network sucks compared to Orange (and I use Orange for my personal phone and o2 for work so can make a fair comparison).
Anyway, I'm not going to switch my personal contract to o2 but will expect Orange to give me a much much better deal to retain my custom - and the other networks will no doubt need to follow suit to avoid increasing their churn rates.
So even if you don't buy an iPhone, the chances are that those will do will help you get a better deal from the other networks.
rene @ Sep 17th 2007 7:35PM
I love to read this love/hate +200 comments apple news and how engadget is pay too much attention to this apple hype... when all the buzz all the hype are not because of engadget all this traffic and comments are from the people in this sick love/hate thing with an electronics maker... sorry but if don't want to be annoyed don't read it don't comment, ignore it!
engadget will not stop it apple reports (no matter how trivial they are) and the main reason is that they give them ton of traffic and hits ($$$)
James @ Sep 17th 2007 7:35PM
You are still meh bandwidths with ur crappy iNews!
matt byrne @ Sep 17th 2007 7:53PM
I fail to see the 'news' or relevance of this footnote in the history of Engadget's love of Apple and I've given Jobs well over £3500 in the last 3 years.
Will he blend and does he play Doom?
kakapo @ Sep 17th 2007 8:10PM
REALITY CHECK!!!!!
No where on your computer or your mouse or your keyboard is there a "force-me-to-read-a-blog-about-Steve_jobs_or_Apple-or-anythign-other-than-what-I-click-on" button!
Quitcherbitchenyoumindlessphuques!
If you don;t want to read it - don't click it. Unless you don't know how ot scroll past an article. And if that is the case, your Mum should take away the keys to the computer until you learn to wipe yourself!
What a bunch of whiners!
As for me I have dropped about 18,800 £ in the last year with Apple and I am ready, willing and able to share more of my hard earned resources with Mr. Jobs and Co. If you can't put money where your mouth is, STFU!

Let's see if this happens: As an incentive for GSM carriers Apple has been in negotiations with GSM carriers around the world to design such a global calling plan reversed enginered in sorts. Instead of a global calling plan based around a company, this will be based around a phone the iPhone. As Europeon countries get signed up, watch the global network form. Now this will be another incentive not to hack the iPhone and use it on a different network. Now with a hack out, do you think that these companies would realy sign such an expensive deal with Apple without something huge to gain.. Watch

Why do you crop Steve-o's baldness? Ya got something against baldies? Huh, huh?

For the record, I think the multititude of Apple annoucements on Engadget is appropriate. The company is cutting the edge of the cutting edge. I think Apple's problem is that they make it look too easy, most of the time.
As for me? I'm waiting, with my PAC code and credit card ready to go to the Trafford Centre Apple shop today should the iPhone be announced. There's also a Carphone Warehouse on Trafford Rd, and an O2 shop in the Lowry Centre should I get desperate. (Manchester, UK, BTW..200 miles from his royal Jobsness)
snesgirl @ Sep 18th 2007 4:54AM
W00t \o/ his stevenes is in the UK !
Finally I don't have to figure out timezones for an announcement. !
(this really should not make me as squee as it does :)

He is there just to announce the DRM free itunes service for European customers, avoiding the EU antitrust laws ;-)
