$130 Zunes -- $10 Woot credit mocks Apple
If the $150 white Zune was too rich to Woot, then how does 30GB for $130 sound Zune boy? Yup, $129.99 to be precise, which leaves you with half of the 2 cents required to sound-off in the comments. In a tip of the hat to their customers (and a mocking poke at Apple), Woot's "Emergency Open Letter" offers a $10 Woot credit for anyone who purchased at the higher price. My my, how consumer expectations are changing.

Don't be a media playa hata. For PC owners $130 is a great price for a PMP of this caliber.
how can people support the ipod the way they do? it plays music and video.
for example, the nano, it took apple 3 years to add video to it. or 2 long years i guess... was it 4 or 5 years for the ipod to get video? i forget.
tons of other products that do similar things cheaper have had video playback sooner. with more features. look @ the creative zen v+ video photo radio inline recording tons of stuff.
and the zune will play "divx or xvid?" formats however i believe theirs a small work around for it, um i think its a simple file rename is all, dont ask me i never checked it out.
oh, only if microsoft were advertisers just a much as apple, actually... if cowon and creative were advertisers half of what apple was, apple would be where it should have been 10 years ago. nowhere because they were going bankrupt.
I cannot believe some of you idiots downplaying the $130 Zune. Let's see, better sound than the iPod, bigger/nicer screen than the iPod, and better navigation than the iPod = $130 scratch proof 30GB player.
Regardless of your biases, it is worth a BUY. I for one am holding out for the Sirius Stiletto 2.

Don't forget about my baby the Archos 605 when talking about codec support. It supports divx and xvid straight out of the box. My 604 does it as well. Not to mention all the other features souly exclusive to the Archos and no other player in the world.
I have no idea why people persist to hate on the Zune, yes it has some faults, but its first generation hardware. . . Considering that, I think it performs amazingly. And if an 8.0 from cNet doesn't quell the bias I have no idea what would.
They hate Zune because they hate Microsoft because they love Apple and think Gates screwed over Jobs back in the day. At $130 who can complain, also, to someone elses comment above.
The white ones are being sold because that is what woot got their hands on, nothing to do with being the least popular color.
I visit woot everyday- not for the deals- it's the writing thats priceless.
The zune is the biggest piece of garbage out there!!...I mean for $130 bucks you only get easy navigation, bigger better screen, fm tuner (only $40 bucks for that on an ipod), amazing sound quality, support for most popular music formats, and something that can last being thrown in a pocket without being easily scratched...
stupid zune fanboys - I for one love buying Steve Jobs' crap in a box (that is as long as it has an apple stamp, comes in amazing colors such as silver and black and uses proprietary cables and or software)...
have fun responding to this comment...i expect such amazing apple comments as "Teh Zune is Crap!!11!!", "shut up M$ fanboy", "GO iPoD!!!", _______________
It's a good price for a Zune... though I still wouldn't buy one - and not even just because it's a Zune. 30gb isn't even close to the space I need for my music. I'll be picking up an iPod classic in the 80gb flavor in the next week or so to replace my 40gb 4th gen iPod.
You do know that the next zune will have an 80 GB storage capacity?
Sure, that's kind of expected at this point. But I still wouldn't buy one. :)
mm kinda sucks they only ship inside the usa. =(
Zune can play divx. I have divx videos on my zune, but I forgot how I did it. I think it is as simple as just putting the divx file into the zune program and it automatically converts it. If you are curious, just look it up.
I had heard the zunes were not all bad
Yeah, I got a Zune from Woot two weeks ago for my gf. Yesterday, it was on Amazon.com for 149 (then 159) and I just decided to order it. Got it today, and saw it back on woot for even cheaper. Man I was pissed. Oh well, sure I can take it back ect... but I didnt' have the extra cash to go ahead and buy another one. Still $130 for a zune is a very good deal. If you are in the market for an MP3 player and didn't get this you've either got your head way to far up somewhere, don't care about the costs, really hate Microsuck, or just would prefer a flash memory player.
Yeah, because we all know Microsoft never has hardware issues-- Aside from the RROD, and just pulling the plug on the Zune altogether, that is.
Honestly, I considered a Zune, but unlike Apple who make their iPods able to work with Windows OR Mac, the Zune is a Windows-only beastie, and I wouldn't bother booting over to Windows just to use a different media player. It's not worth the hassle of dealing with Windows.
Make it support OS X, and iTunes, and I'll consider it. Until then, it doesn't matter what kind of bargain it is-- It lacks the user interface, infrastructure, and software support that matters to me.
But hey-- it's a great player for music and video pirates.
"But hey-- it's a great player for music and video pirates."
If you had a point prior to that...and I'm not sure you did...you just ruined it with that ridiculous statement. It's not like an iPod makes it impossible (or even mildly annoying) to pirate music and video.
For the record, I don't own a Zune and I don't plan to unless the rumored Zune 2 totally blows me away when it comes out. In fact, the only media player I own is an old, *old* Rio that I haven't touched in years because of the 128 MB storage capacity and terrible software.
To me, nothing currently touches the Archos 605, even if it is a bit big, because I require both capacity and functionality that nothing else seems to deliver.
I just want my Bag of Crap! Pleas!!!
That couple needs to jump the shark!
The royalties are just too high to license Divx, and companies like Apple and Microsoft are all about mass producing players on the skimp.
So let's face it, it's really going to take a kick in their ass to get the to pay up big for something like that. And it's all a big gamble.
Why is it that every damn time I look at Woot they're selling a freaking Roomba? I always miss the cool stuff.
