ATP's diminutive Petito USB flash drives help fight breast cancer
As with most late-Septembers, we're beginning to see a few pinked gizmos roll out in support of the impending National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This go 'round, we've got a special edition of ATP's Petito USB flash drive that touts a "Pink Ribbon" motif and comes in 512MB, 1GB and 2GB flavors. Aside from being fairly tiny, each drive sold will help fund breast cancer research and support "education, screening and treatment projects" around the globe. The trio is available now at a variety of retailers starting at $19.99.

They look pretty cool, especially its size. It sure is a good way to spread the word about Breast Cancer Awareness.
What about prostate cancer awareness? Or testicular cancer awareness?
I'm amused by them calling it the peTITo.
You beat me to it...lol
I bet they toss a penny or to to breast cancer research.. if even that much.

Well, considering that a normal 512MB flash drive can be had for under $10 (might be around $5), and this is being sold for about $20, there is a markup on the price of this of between 100% and 300%. If they are donating all of that to fighting breast cancer, that it would be significantly more than "a penny or to."
And why would you think they would donate all of the difference? Companies are in for profit. Helping out is usually just a good way to build brand rep and free ads. Which means, more profit.
You can be sure that you would be donating a LOT more to research if you bought a regular USB drive on sale, then donated the difference in price directly to the BC fund. The donation amount per drive is probably only 1-10% of the profit per drive, or a set amount that doesn't even break $1 per drive.
Err, this is news? I've owned one of these for almost two years now. Very fast transfer speed though, great little drive! But as far as news goes? Ancient.
When they can assure me that none of the industrial processes used to produce these items CAUSED any cancers, then I'll start buying them to help FIGHT them.
Also look closely at the money trail on stuff like this.
Also Also: A cynic is just a heartbroken optimist.
there fast too!
adenosine triphosphate?
Actually the website lists 512 at $39.99 and 1GB at $59.99
seems a little pricey, even for something so little...
I just checked and they have a new naming scheme.
