First pic of an AT&T-branded 8925 / Tilt, 9/30 release date?
For Windows Mobile users, the HTC Kaiser / TyTN II / MDA Vario III / AT&T 8925 ("Tilt") US release is equivalent in excitement to the launch of another handset widely anticipated by Apple fans, but unlike the iPhone, poor WinMo diehards have no definitive date at which to target their enthusiasm. We've heard numerous rumored release windows before -- and most recently, word of yet another possible delay -- with none having panned out so far, meaning you should take the following tidbit with the usual skepticism: e-tailer Negri Electronics has started taking pre-orders on both the 8925 (pictured above) and camera-less 8900, and claims that units are expected to be in stock on Sunday, September 30th. If the photo they're running is indeed the AT&T production version, potential buyers can be somewhat relieved that the color scheme has not changed from the unlocked model (unlike the fugly offering from T-Mobile Germany), but as we expected, the front cam and all possibility of hacked video calling have been eliminated. Hey, gotta give the early adopters something for spending double the subsidized price.

I work for BEST BUY MOBILE. I just came back from a week training in New Jersey, Exec from all the different providers were there. I myself have the 8525, At&t Account Executive Jason Bosworth saw my phone and he asked do I plan on getting the "Tilt" when it comes out. I asked "When does it come out?". He said on the 30th.( Meaning Sept. 30). Then he pulls the tilt out and let me play with it for a while. The phone will NOT come with the tom tom maps. It will instead use telnav ( A service cingular offers) As for everything else the front camera is missing, but we already know that.
I was hoping to get this instead of the original HTC branded version but now that I can see there's a missing secondary camera, I'm not so sure I should wait for this crap anymore.
is that running WM6 Smartphone or Pocket PC?
It's a Pocket PC. It's got a touchscreen.
WM6 Professional edition (aka Pocket PC, phone edition)
BTW isn't this like the Anit-iPhone LOL!
M$, Buttons, 3rd party freedom, stylus etc. I just dread the price tag I hear this might have, its a pretty awesome phone.
Honestly don´t see the big deal about the phone. It´s missing the front camera (as has been mentioned here before), it "still" only has a 400mhz processor, weighs 190grs... It´s feels more like middleware than anything else. I´ll bet Xmas or com Feb tops it will be replaced by an updated model.
ill take you on that bet!
I don't get why UI designers use the LCD screen numbers for clocks. It makes the numbers less readable, and wastes screen space.
I believe the term you were looking for is, "LED" or light emitting diode.
no, he did mean lcd-style. the font, not the leds behind it.
any1 notice the keyboard swings out the opposite way of the 8125/8525? interesting...
yes! thank goodness. i hate it on the right cuz im so used to it on the left due to video game controlers and what not.
any1...?
I still don't get it. Why would AT&T remove the camera? I mean all it can do is lead to more sales and after all isn't that the reason they are in business?
Oh, we don't want people hacking our phones and using it for things we don't want, even though the feature would mean that more people would buy the phone, use it more, and use more air time.
Guess it is time for another installment of "Executive Bonus Awards" - Time to give exec. management team of AT&T a large bonus for this decision!

a lot of people work in places where you arent allowed to have a camera. i can't tell you how many crappy phones i sold to people just because it DIDN'T have camera.
If this phone is anything like the 8525 then it's going to be a hackers dream as the 8525 has been very hacker friendly.
If I'm not mistaken, the only camera removed was the 3G Video Call camera from the front which, unbeknownst to me as to why, AT&T removed. That service is available already in AT&T if I'm not mistaken. The rear camera is still there.
Now, there is a version of this phone without any camera at all which is great for folks that work in security sensitive companies that don't allow any cameras what-so-ever.
I have no problem with a no camera phone. i realize that many people either through preference or necessity do not want a camera.
My ire comes against those who seem to arbitrarily make decisions on options for us. I mean the front camera is a cool idea for video conferencing so why ask the manufacturer to take it out? Who's brilliant idea was that. "Yes, I would like to offer that for all the people in our network, but could you take out the front camera, I do not want anyone to be able to use it who may want it."
I guess the brilliant people who run AT&T see no reason why anyone would ever want to try this feature or they purposely feel that while people can use their network to talk, they should not be allowed to use their network to talk to anyone they can see.
But hey, this is exactly why these people should be rewarded. I mean look at all the people who won the Medal of Freedom for their similar executive leadership!

um, you can install this software on other smartphones. i have that exact same desktop (touchFlo-esque) and have all the touch screen features on my 8525. for free. took 15 minutes http://www.xda-developers.com
plus, the processor its packing, 400 mhz, is the same as the processor in the 8525. i dont see the upgrade here.
but it has more memory, which is really needed. usb 2.0 which is HIGHLY needed cuz it takes so long 2 sync on the 8525 (multimedia) and the built in GPS thats great! and supports the new microsdhc (?) cards and hopefully the camera will be better (like in low-light place, god i hope!) isnt the processor different chipset, so even tho it has the same freq. it should have better performance?
actually syncing takes very little time, but moving large files like video and audio takes awhile.
but that's why God made card readers. usb 2.0 doesnt really matter here.
the added memory is nice, to be sure, but the cpu is the real problem. my 8525 has no problem running a lot of apps, but too often it runs them too slow and laggy, which strikes me as a cpu prob.
i mean, none of this really matters. this is the best series of phones out there right now (8525 and 8925) and they put the iPhone to shame.
The picture is fake. It is a photoshopped TyTN II with the camera and the HTC branding removed, and (bad) AT&T branding pasted in. Here is the original: http://www.mobileplanet.com/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=151727
There's still no telling if the color scheme will be the same, and it certainly won't include the "HTC Home" app pictured on the home screen.
I'm not photoshop expert or anything like that. But when you look at the AT&T picture a the top left corner where the camera suppose to be. You can see a roundish circle as if the plastic casing is not SOLID like the right corner? Maybe the AT&T picture is a fake!
The leaked AT&T Tilt interface shots (http://www.modaco.com/ATandT-89xx-Tilt-screensh-t258197.html), if accurate, show that the AT&T version has the standard WM6 Pro interface, not TouchFLO front-end, though it still has Touch-Flo features.
I waited for this phone to be released until I realized that it was not going to give me much more than what my 8525 was already giving me. Too late HTC, I got the iPhone instead. Much faster, smoother, a lot more Memory, and easier on the eyes. Also less expensive since I bought the 8gig at $399.99 versus what this phone would've cost. Keep in mind I am 6 months into my AT&T contract so I would've had to pay full price for this 8925 phone which is probably going to be in the $500.00 range. Besides, WM6 is not that much of an upgrade from WM5. Just didn't see the advantage. I might go back to WM when that next major upgrade comes out, whenever that is. Until then, I'm enjoying my iPhone and all of the iPhone native apps that I can install directly into it.
On paper the iphone is in no way comparable to the 8925.You sound like you're trying to convince yourself you made the right decision but deep down u feel it wasn't. btw the 8925 will be going for $350 it seems after $50 rebate. you got me laughing there with the "iphone native apps" comment.
I'm not in denial man. I was always finding reasons to not buy the iPhone. The main reason why I held off buying the iPhone was because of the iPod Touch.
When the iPhone first came out I was feeling the same thing many were feeling which was to wait for an iPod that had the same features and characteristics of the iPhone but without the phone part. This is because I was having fun hacking my 8525 and just couldn't see myself with a phone without a physical keypad and 3G. So I was disappointed when the iPod touch was announced with only 16gigs of storage and more limitations than the iPhone. I decided to give the iPhone a try at that point. Really, why buy the Touch for $400.00 when I could buy the iPhone with so much more for the same price? Granted, half the storage but I figured I could somehow deal. I was also discouraged by the delay of the Kaiser which is what this 8925 is based from.
I gave it a lot of thought before I settled for the iPhone, believe me. I liked my 8525 but the hate outweighed the love. I installed so many different Cooked WM6 Cooked ROMs into it looking for that magical increase in speed and reliability. I didn't find it. The iPhone is so much smoother and nicer than the 8525. I didn't pay much mind to the lack of 3G on the iPhone since it has WiFi and I'm always near an AP that I can use. Besides the battery life is so much more because of the lack of 3G.
So far there are 3 things the 8525 offered me that the iPhone lacks and that's Exchange compatibility, a password database program (Flexwallet), and a personal finance program (Cash Organizer) that could sync with Quicken. Those are the only things that I'm hoping will eventually make it to the iPhone. But in the end, the price ($400.00), the interface, the really good iPod functions, the size, the hackability (yes, the iPhone is hackable), and the full compatibility with my Mac, made me go for the iPhone.
Is the 8525, and now the 8925 an excellent phone? For me it was, 6 months total time. But the iPhone is so much better (my opinion) and so promising. There are iPhone native apps available. Have you heard of Installer.app or Jailbreak? Installer.app is awesome where you carry around with you the capabilities to install all kinds of open source, freeware, iPhone native apps anytime you want. These work really well and don't take away from the performance of the iPhone. Couldn't say the same from the 8525 where I was always balancing performance and storage. Always looking for that magical Registry tweak to increase speed and maintain stability.
Will the 8925 suffer from the limitations of the 8525? I hope not. But, like I said before, I was not going to qualify for the new user discount of the 8925 anyways. This means I was going to have to pay full price. So why was I going to pay > $400.00 for a phone with an OS that required a lot of maintenance and tweaking around? No. I'm taking a chance with the iPhone but so far I like what I have. Besides, when the Pocket PC OS was first introduced the devices were pretty much app locked where one had to wait a while before apps started to be made available. I think the iPhone is going through the same development life-cycle as I'm sure actual, official, commercial grade, 3rd party apps and Apple developed apps will be made available.
Long-winded reply but I couldn't make it shorter. Not trying to convince you to get an iPhone. Not my objective with this response. Just making my case for why I decided to skip the 8925 and go for the iPhone.
Fin.
tl;dr
do we really need that secondary camera, ATT isnt even offering 2-way video calling. who r u gonna use it with? and all its gonna do is kill the battery charge extreamly fast.
you indeed Would be able to videoconference, through the 3G connection and hacked firmware, which I'm sure would come out within a month after release... same with the GPS, no need to use Telenav, this is why I'm considering the orig. retail version of the kaiser, screw the crippled crap AT&T has modded it into
That looks like a cool phone. I love the green. I hope it will have ebook capabilities.
http://www.ebooklvr.com
"but unlike the iPhone, poor WinMo diehards have no definitive date at which to target their enthusiasm..."
Well that and the fact that WinMo diehards have had four generations of phones in a large number of styles and two broad forms (three if you include things like the Advantage) from a large number of manufacturers, also unlike the iPhone.
Gordon, it's Windows Mobile. There's a ton of software for it. Mobireader and Acrobat reader are both available for it for free.
And you won't even need to jailbreak your phone to install it... (Oh.. how dull... it just works... :)
Agreed. Its so funny how just because Apple produces a flashy phone, people think its revolutionary. When its really overpriced and under-featured. Windows Mobile is by far the best Mobile devices around. Multitasking, Third-Party Applications and more. The only thing I dislike is the memory leakage. I hope I get this phone through T-Mobile. Memory Leakage will be less of an issue with 128MB RAM :).
Lockups, soft resets, hard resets.....
I'm willing to bet that a lot of iPhone users like me owned WinMo phones previously and won't look back. Yes, I did all the "hacks" to make it a little more stable and they still sucked. I must say that the Dash was an exception, though.
I currently have a Dash and its nice but it has the memory leak issue. I usually have only 17MB of RAM available and have to overclock to 228MHz from the standard 186MHz. Most Windows Mobile devices have 64MB of RAM. That's why they suck. This device has double that (128MB of RAM). That means you can open way more applications without the device getting really laggy on you. It may still lag due to the processor but it won't because of memory. WM apps are somewhat bloated I must say compared to Palm too. But with the memory increase, this should be way better.
WOOHOO! Both Windows Mobile fans must be -really- excited!
Not.
Funny.
I would buy this phone if it had the same touch screen as the iPhone. Nothing compares to the iPhone's touch screen.
I must say, the only thing I like about the iPhone or the iPod Touch is the iPod coverflow interface. That looks cool. Other than that, I found the flicking a little annoying when it comes to scrolling through a web page. While on a WM device, you just press like 2 or 8 and you get page up and page down respectively. You need an actual keyboard or dialpad on a phone. That's my belief. Not even SJ can't convince me otherwise. I've used a Palm T|X with a landscape keyboard application for months. While I liked it because it was thin without a keyboard, your thumbs get tired of banging on the screen repeatedly. Its also bad for your joints. iTendentious anyone?
No one commenting upon the removal of tomtom? No surprise as telenav is subscription based, but it still sucks. The camera would be a nicety, but dont rip out tomtom.
AT&T data rates are ridiculous. I really hope this comes to T-Mobile as the rumors and FCC is saying. I hope the data says at $20/month.
Not worried about them ripping out tomtom. You could easily install the cooked roms from xda-devs and get tomtom yourself.
@JAmerican
I pay $20/month (before my 23% discount) for an unlimited data plan for my Blackjack. You don't _have_ to to get the $40 plan becasue there's no functional difference between them. I swap my SIM between my Blackjack and my Advantage all of the time without any issues.
The key is to sign up only for voice service at the time of purchase, then create your online account profile at the ATT website. Once that's done, you can add the $20/month Media Max Unlimited service to your account and you're done.
HTC Kaiser has GPS, tri-band 3.5G HSDPA, a 3MP (noticeably better) camera, Blackberry Connect, a physical keyboard and a large exsisting software base. The iPhone has its 8GB, better interface, small size, style, and I suspect, a cheaper data plan.
Different strokes for different folks, but of course, people care about proving their favorite device better, rather than a objective look at strengths and weaknesses.
but if its telenav, then most likely they disabled the the internal GPS which SUCKS. I have a Titan (CDMA version of TyTn) and the only reason worth upgrading to the Kaiser was the extra memory and GPS. one thing is noticed about HTC devices are all the built in cameras are pretty bad. from the 1.2 mp in the Wizard to the 2.0 mp in the Titan, i honestly wouldnt brag about any of the pics ive taken. i highly doubt this 3.0 mp will be any better.
See the pics in the reviews. It's better than people expect from a HTC device. It's really not a big downgrade from my N73.
i just picked up the htc version in hong kong last week, $650.00 usd. i did not fully set it up yet since i've been all over asia. i have a really good supplier that will switch the power supply to American style for no charge.
can't wait to get home to set this up.
Hey doug, I know this is probably impossible but can your supplier supply me with one for the same price. (does your's have the front camera)
sorry about the delay in replying i was out of contact.
it does have both cameras. i buy a lot from this person so i do get some better pricing.
whats the street price now?
all i know is i that as soon as i get my hands on this phone, i'm going to change the ugly WM screen to the HTC Today screen. i think its so a huge improvement in terms of appearance, and more useful too w/ the tabs: favorite people, weather, application launcher, and music launcher.
did you know that the HTC Today screen was extracted from a Kaiser ROM?
i meant to say that the 6 tab HTC Today screen that your talking about is from the Kaiser. the previous 4 tab ones were from the Touch
I've accepted the fact that AT&T for some reason decided to remove the front camera, but if they nerfed or removed the GPS in any way, I won't be getting one.
I have always loved the Windows Mobile O/S ... AXIM X50v was the best quality pocket pc i have ever had.
I would love to have an iPhone form factor phone with the WM o/s. Loose the keyboard and boost the resolution ... 320x240 web surfing blows ... (my treo 750 240x240 blows more)
All the HTC models i have played with can't play quality video for crap either.
I just don't get it ... all the technology if there. Why is no one "advancing" the Windos Mobile o/s?
Keyboard looks very nice.
And contrary to what Leo(IhateMSFT)LaPorte says , Win Mob is solid. My Moto Q has yet to lock up or crash (6 months of use)
The irony is that the iphone keeps having lock-up crash problems and he is in a state of denial.
Hell , Paul Thurrotte`s iPhony locked up on Leo`s podcast.
The Q uses Windows Mobile for Smartphone not the same OS as the 8925. The Smartphone OS, now called Windows Mobile Standard, is a very stable OS and works really well. These WM phones come in three varieties: 1. Pocket PC with no phone (WM Classic), 2. more Pocket PC than phone (WM Pro), and more phone than Pocket PC (WM Standard). The Q falls under the more phone than Pocket PC. This works really well and is pretty solid. I actually have an HTC S620 which has WM6 Standard, as my backup and beat up phone which I use whenever I go to the field on Guard Drills where I don't care of it gets dirty or scratched up. It works really well.
my iphone has never crashed....come over to the dark side
I must say this: I've been waiting for this device since when it was announced. Had 8525 for a while, liked and hated at the same tame. I was thinking that tilt will be great improvement till i had a chance to play with tytn 2. It's the same original tytn(8525)+gps + new sliding mechanism +wm6. Week ago i went to buy a new ipod touch and bought...iPhone, LOL. I'll be missing large variety of wm applications, that's for sure. Maybe better email too. But as a phone and multimedia device, iPhone kicks tytn 2 in da a$$.
The "8925" looks so shopped onto that.
The ATT version MAY look like this, but that picture is a photoshop job. The upper left has been clone tooled to remove the camera. The brushed metal grain is altered up there. Also, the "8925" silkscreen has a distinct rectangle of pixel noise around it.
I plan on getting the unlocked version anyway. Unadulterated HTC action!
I didn't buy an iPhone. It might be a beautiful device but a really terrible phone. Audio quality? Give me a break, the damn things sounds worse than a $100 phone. Reception? Go out of major densely populated area. Does your phone work? No? Oooops. But the UI is cute and it runs fast. It never crashes? Right. Seriously? Ah, you can just live with those "incidents." Had one. Had to return it. Some told me it was a "lemon", yet everyone I know who's got one has all the same "features". No, iPhone is not for me. Neither is Keiser. Too large and complicated. Hard to dial phone numbers (no phone kyeboard.) I just settled for SE K810.
Thats oh-so-photo-shopped. 10 minute job tops.
Down to the time/dates on the screen, and phone's shadow backdrop, are all exactly like the original pic:
http://www.mobileplanet.com/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=151727
"At&T Branded tilt ->>> $820!?!" Pre order...lmaooo
http://www.negrielectronics.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=10&products_id=501
Talk about trying to capitalize on early adaptors....(Again)
i like the iphone. supercool device.
but it wont orb
and it wont exchange server push.
and yes that means i am forced to deal with whatever M$ deals out. and i have been somewhat happy with my 8125. yes it locks up and whats with the screen not refreshing properly.
Photoshop much.
TO ALL YOU iPHONE LOVERS:
Whoever buys an iPhone to use is as dumb as the next clown that buys a MAC over PC for 2x the price!
If you cannot understand why people use PC's and (windows mobile), you are a complete fool to believe your iPhone is superior in any way.
The only thing that is great about the iPhone is the interface (how fast and responsive) it really is compared to winblows 6. Nothing on the WM market can compete with apple's iPhone interface responsiveness. But that's about it!
I'm not going to list out the "features" of WM that can beat out an Apple iPhone - those who own such a device and have mods will understand what I'm saying. Those that don't are the same ones that buy inferior apple products for 2x price of a super PC!
You bust out an iPhone in japan, they laugh at you. You bust a WM6 device, they at least know you mean business! Only in America does the marketing strategy of apple products work - that's because 90% of American's are always getting conn'ed into buying bullshit like iPhones.
Last but not least, in contradictory fashion I will say this HTC Kaiser does suck in one huge department: QVGA resolution - give me a frickin' break. Include the G900 toshiba's screen with a longer battery life and you have a real winner!
I must admit, I had the HTC Advantage 7501 and it had VGA. HUGE difference. I do wish they would have put that in the Kaiser.
I don't know about the dumb part, but @ $400 the iPhone makes all the win mobile phones look a little sad.
My friend just got the iPhone to replace her Treo. It may take her 40 minutes to reply to text messages now but when you compare just down to the hardware. You realy get more bang for the buck with the iPhone. Why isn't the disk space in win mobile phones being measured in gigs in 2007? My first iPaq was modified to give 128mb.
On the software side I use logmein.com and slingplayer plus I prefer the mobile formated sites for quick reading but like to have some real websites as well. The iPhone doesn't cut it. In fact with Apple tight control over the iPhone, I don't know how people are getting suckered into buying them.
I'm looking for a do it all devide that's kind of on the small side. If the Kaiser had some decent disk space, it would be a killer device. I really don't want add an sd card for another few bucks. (does this thing support hcsd cards?)
I may just stick to win mobile smartphone for day to day use and get the HTC Advantage.
I don't think people with the iPhone really mind if the Japanese laugh at them.
you mean sdhc cards? even the TyTn was able to support up to 4gb sdhc cards. i dont know about you, but i got a 2gb microsd card for $20 and considering the apps for WM are tiny, i have a ton of programs, mp3s, and even videos.
it may not be as "pretty" as the iphone, but it gets the job done. the iphone maybe be pleasing to the eye, but it is not a business device. i still had the fact that they dont allow its users to remove the battery. i can easily buy an extended battery and change them at will with my Titan for long trips.
It's kind of amazing, really. The discussion on every damn phone story ends up getting loaded with beligerent nut jobs ranting about how shitty the iPhone is. I guess you can add to its feature list "has the power to drive Windows fanboys insane".
Personally, I don't see why liking this phone (or any phone) requires attacking the iPhone, but it seems to have become SOP. Shrug.
that's because in every damn article about a mobile phone the apple fan boys show up in a matter of seconds and start bashing it yelling praise the iphone.
it's getting annoying.
and just my 2 cents here. I've been using wm since day 1 and since wm5 I never had any crashes, hard resets or anything. windows mobile start getting unreliable if you start installing tons of crap that you dont really need. stop fiddling with the device, use it what it's meant for and you will be rewarded with a very stable and reliable device.
http://www.openmoko.com/
Or maybe you could just get a phone that's designed to be hacked...
I purchased this phone from mobileplanet. It's unlocked and packed full of features.
I had the iPhone, however, I haven't really looked back.
REASONS I GOT THIS PHONE:
GPS (step-by-step voice guided)
HSDPA
BLUETOOTH PAN (Now I can cancel my Verizon aircard...that alone saves me $60+ dollars per/mo)
APPLICATIONS - So nice to have REAL Apps without hacking the phone
TILT - Its actually very cool
REAL PUSH MAIL - That "Yahoo Push" mail service was a joke. It NEVER worked right.
You want ringtones? There is a program on the phone to take care of that..straight from HTC. I hate how everyone tries to charge you for ringtones. Silly.
All-in-all, this puppy is loaded and crammed full of tech goodies to keep you jazzed through Christmas.
Travis
hi where do u live in the us?
The HSDPA works fast where you live?
Can u really use the bluetooth as a modem?
Zach
I live on the East Coast -- HSDPA is very fast where I am at. It's simply wonderful to use this beast as a bluetooth modem. Works buttery smooth and is incredibly stable.
Wow, an HTC ringtone program really?
1 thing i hated about windows mobile is ringtone management. IT SUCKS.
there's a million different directories you can put ringtones in on the phone or mem card, or you can do reg hacks etc..etc.. personalized contact ringtones would work for a while, then goes back to default, etc..
So what does this HTC ringtone program actually do? Is it reliable?
this picture is 100% fake, stop getting so worked up, lol.
looks cool, but looks like they copied it from somewhere else: http://alltel.com/phones/images/HTC6800.jpg
please do your research before you post something like this.
you posted the alltel version of the Titan. This is the Kaiser. same manufacturer, different branding, different specs.
Well Bryan, i was mearly comparing the two with looks. i never said that i was comparing them on stats.
so please think things though before you post something like that
Well G,
He was right, you mislead and lied. Dont do that again or you'll be banned and executed!! pc
@Johny
It's real simple: the number of people talking about a preference for anything Apple is always a drop in the bucket compared to the number of people screaming about "fanboys" and assuring us that anyone that buys anything Apple is stupid and wrong.
The theory seems to be that one person saying that they prefer, say, the iPhone is "irritating", whereas two people saying they prefer the iPhone is a flood of fanboys who have come rushing in to defend their precious Jobs because they are horrible, horrible sheep people and have mind control chips installed in Cupertino.
Somehow, the far greater numbers of people commenting on iPhone stories, explaining what a piece of shit the iPhone is and how it lacks so many features as to be laughable and only pretentious dicks would be caught dead with such a piece of crap, never seem to count as "legions of Nokia, or Mobile Windows, or whatever, fanboys who come rushing in within seconds."
Bottom line: the anti-fanboy crowed is way more prevalent, and way more irritating, than any actual "fanboy" action that I can see, it's just that it appears that, in some quarters, liking an Apple product is such a disgusting aberration it must be met with belligerent dismissals, every time.
I don't even care about Apple's stuff, particularly, and have no intention of getting an iPhone, I just get bored with having to wade through the "Fanboy! Fanboy! Fanboy!" chant over and over again.
I'm going to laugh when AT&T releases the 8925 and it doesn’t look like the factory HTC version. Look at T-Mobile’s version, slight different. Do you think HTC will allow them to release there top model phone and have it look exactly the same. I’m still betting it will look like the leaked powerpoint version. Those are the at&t colors on the keypad. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/wp-content/uploads/image/atttiltslidefull.jpg
Besides, how come romeo36099 hasn't spoken up? He said he had his hands on the at&t version. Is he willing to put his reputation on the fact that the one in the phots is for a fact the final version as in the image?
Sure, for someone who has the 8525 it might not be much of an upgrade. But I'll replace my 8125 with it.
Bluetooth 2.0
GPS
Processor speed
Sign me up!
YES it comes out the 30th my best friend works for AT&T and I think t-mobiles version DOES have the front cam :) that what I heard from a customer service rep atleast they are working on video calling. Can't wait, hate cingular..
I don't know I never heard a phone coming out on a Sunday. Most electronic devices come out on Tuesday's on top of that UPS don't deliver on Sunday. And I doubt that the delivery would be made on a Saturday to go on sell Sunday.
i went to cingular n one of the guys said the tilt comes out the 29th
OMG AT&T is a ripoff... I went to their website and it lists the 8525 and the 8820 blackberry underneath upgrades as $879 and $1000+ list prices IF I upgrade without a new contract.
Yet IF i just want to buy their phone off the normal website, the list price is about half that.
They are just a bunch of IDIOTS.
I have been waiting for all of the features to align in one phone and this is it. Now do I buy the HTC or the AT&T version?
We know that the video conf camera is gone.
We know that Tomtom is replaced by Telnav. Will that cost $10/month?
I am sure it will play videos, etc. but will AT&T box you in so you have to go through their media server so they can charge you?
I do not want to buy the device and then find out that AT&T has built a nice box around it so they can get a buck from everything that I do.
If so, it would be cheeper to buy the phone outright.
Can someone comment on the 'hackability' of the GPS feature, i.e. will it be possible to utilize the GPS but NOT use TeleNav?
If we're forced to go with TeleNav, then I'll definitely be going for the HTC unlocked version.
can somebody correct me on this, but i went back to one of the local cingular stores in Louisiana n the manager told me that the phone isn't comin out till mid october...im all confused now.
HEY GUYS BAD NEWS looks like NEgri electronics changed their release date to October 23 Tuesday wich makes sense sooooo... I don't think I can wait so im going to get the HTC version of the phone....you might wanna do the same.
how much is the HTC version? would it still work for at&t?
I agree, I just ordered it from PhoneSource-USA. I do not want to deal with what AT&T will do with the phone. There are plenty of 3rd party apps available. I do not need the restrictions that AT&T may apply.
The HTC Version Works Flawlessly with AT&T service the only downfall is that you won't get the discounted Unlimited data plan... But check the positives; Front camera (possible hacked video calls), completely free GPS, the beautiful touch flo today screen, the orginal 3rd party apps that comes with the HTC version like "World Card Mobile"
And for all the IPhone Lovers that just love their full HTML internet,,, HTC Win Mobile users have the free full HTML internet 3rd party app. "Opera Mini" with the zoom in feature available for download.
Who will you be using as your carrier? I, too, will buy the unlocked version as I agree with your assessments....
I currently have the Unlimited Data Plan with my locked Treo650. Are you saying that if I purchase an unlocked TyTnII and move my SIM card over that I'll loose the Unlimited Data Plan?
I will be using AT&T as my carrier (I am not currently with this network... but will be within the week)If you buy the TyTN II and insert your sim-card into it everything will work fine and no who will not loose the data plan you are already subscribed to.
Does it matter whether or not the Sean Adam Sim card is 3G or not?
No it doesn't matter it would just run on the edge network but then why spend all the money the best thing about the phone is the speed of HSDPA.
I got some news, I was just introduced to an AT&T Corporate Store Manager and asked him about the AT&T 8925/ Tilt he said it will be out within the next two weeks (So the original release date of October 9th is looking right) But he also hit me with a BOMB he said it would not be called the Tilt it will be called the "Shift" I didn't want to be rude so I just said "Is that right" And he said it again. "Shift". Maybe he is messing with me "But why would he".
