First pic of an AT&T-branded 8925 / Tilt, 9/30 release date?
For Windows Mobile users, the HTC Kaiser / TyTN II / MDA Vario III / AT&T 8925 ("Tilt") US release is equivalent in excitement to the launch of another handset widely anticipated by Apple fans, but unlike the iPhone, poor WinMo diehards have no definitive date at which to target their enthusiasm. We've heard numerous rumored release windows before -- and most recently, word of yet another possible delay -- with none having panned out so far, meaning you should take the following tidbit with the usual skepticism: e-tailer Negri Electronics has started taking pre-orders on both the 8925 (pictured above) and camera-less 8900, and claims that units are expected to be in stock on Sunday, September 30th. If the photo they're running is indeed the AT&T production version, potential buyers can be somewhat relieved that the color scheme has not changed from the unlocked model (unlike the fugly offering from T-Mobile Germany), but as we expected, the front cam and all possibility of hacked video calling have been eliminated. Hey, gotta give the early adopters something for spending double the subsidized price.

According the the rebate form on AT&T's website it will be called the tilt. The rebate is for $50 if the phone is purchased (with a data plan >39.99) between 9/16 and 11/3.
So I guess worst case we will be able to get it before 11/3.
Has anybody actually goten the internet to work on their unbranded HTC phone using the ATT internet. I tried to get it to work the other day for somebody but we couldn't get it to work
I decided to get this phone unlocked and without ATT mods. So far, I am not able to get the GPRS to work as well as the GPS. It should come with TomTom and one city map but there was no TomTom software installed or a CD. So there is NO GPS software installed. No problem, I will just download Google maps. No deal, it does not see the GPS. Calls to American HTC support are of no use as they do not know about the device. I have to call Europe to talk to someone that knows the device. I guess that is my task for Thursday.
Other than these two issues, the phone is nice. It is odd that the default power setting is to turn off after two minutes of no use. It is a phone! so it should always be on!
Unit came with a windows Outlook 2007 CD. I installed it but nothing was installed to the phone. It was on my laptop but did not do anything. Strange.
FYI - was poking around AT&T's website and the device is now listed.
Says release date is October 5th.

Ok, I got everything working except one little nit. Since you cannot buy a US version, mine is a Euro version so the temp is given in Degrees C. There must be a config file somewhere that will change that.
I could not get google maps to work and was frustrated with it. I installed Microsoft Map point for Smartphones and it worked! So I tried Google Maps again and it works now, go figure.
I could not get GPRS to work only to find out that I signed up for the wrong data plan. It works now and is fast. No measuremnets, but I am very happy with the speed.
I have had to pull the battery several times. It would get hung up on some config items. I hope this will be the exception and not a common task.
