Samsung's YP-P2 gets unboxed
Just days after hitting Amazon, Samsung's YP-P2 is getting a proper unboxing. TheGirl over at YJzone was able to secure the oh-so-slim player and managed to curb that enthusiasm just long enough to snap pictures of the entire opening process. We're sure you're up to speed on the device being discussed, so we'll cut ya loose so you can enjoy the pictures, cool?

iPhone ripoff!!11!!!1!!
Kurter @ Sep 24th 2007 8:24PM
I'm not even going to speak my mind about that comment.
SteveMB @ Sep 24th 2007 8:25PM
I hope you were being sarcastic.
fischju @ Sep 24th 2007 8:30PM
Were the multiple "1"s not enough to convey that?
Argot @ Sep 24th 2007 8:57PM
No, this thing is actually useful.
fischju @ Sep 24th 2007 10:21PM
You people have no sense [Of humour? Of anything?]
It was an obvious stab at Engadget calling every other device with a screen an iPhone ripoff, or knockoff, or something similiarly vile.
Alvin @ Sep 24th 2007 11:07PM
@fischju: With so many people here posting that on every article about a phone or media player, it's really quite difficult to tell who now is being sarcastic.
JACK @ Nov 10th 2007 5:33AM
You must be Korean, right?
Reader @ Sep 24th 2007 8:33PM
Intelligent humor at its finest.
Hman @ Sep 24th 2007 8:40PM
Hmm..."TheGirl" has guy hands
Homeboy @ Sep 24th 2007 9:18PM
It's a deception. "Thegirl" is in reality a shemale.
Other than that it looks like an attractive device. I would love to see with with more memories though. 16GB for $300 perhaps + an SD slot?
reticulate @ Sep 24th 2007 9:28PM
It's a Trap!
octoberasian @ Sep 24th 2007 9:53PM
Don't pick up the soap!
Ryhan @ Sep 24th 2007 10:19PM
lonelygurl15 VERSION 2? or a chinese fembot? The world may never know.
trumpton @ Sep 24th 2007 8:40PM
8GB of flash; biggie 3-inch, 428 x 240 pixel touch-screen display; MP3, WMV, WMA, and H.264 (MPEG4 AVC), MPEG-4 (ASF), 100 x 52 x 9.2-mm thin...
All looks very nice to me. If only they could have wedged in a web browser and wi-fi and my eallet hand would have been a-twitching.
ilh @ Sep 25th 2007 4:22AM
+ Ogg.
Reginald @ Sep 24th 2007 9:00PM
Off topic, what is the battery life using Bluetooth?
I couldn't find that detail anywhere.
ilh @ Sep 25th 2007 4:22AM
German Samsung site spec sheet says for 12 hours for audio, 5 for video with bluetooth on.
z @ Sep 24th 2007 9:05PM
The comments on the unboxing mentioned xvid support! This may end up being a buy for me after all.
Adam @ Sep 24th 2007 9:07PM
wow, gotta get me one of these
Ruben @ Sep 24th 2007 9:17PM
Yepp, samsung just got touchscreen done right.
Too bad no storage slot (the Zen has ruined all other players because of that, mainly because of the anticipated drops in price for those cards in the future)
And that better have been her boyfriend in the pics, because if thats her picture and her hands, ugh! Thats a real shame.
Those are the kind of hands that can get a 10ft wall up and mortared in 5 minutes.
BigD @ Sep 24th 2007 11:19PM
I'd say that she probably got her manfriend to hold it for her. She probably wanted to make it seem smaller than it actually is. I live in Korea and the size of some of the womens' hands make small devices look impossibly large.
Tony @ Sep 24th 2007 11:26PM
@BigD
Be less racist please. What do Korean's have to do with small hands?
ANY women from any part of the world, may have small hands.
joev @ Sep 25th 2007 4:18AM
@Tony
"ANY women from any part of the world, may have small hands."
As can any man, child, spider-monkey, chipmunk, mouse...
Be less sexist and speciest please! :P
anderesp @ Sep 24th 2007 9:35PM
i freaking want this.
next possible give away.
LIKE NOW!

I've been a fan of Samsung since the YP-T7x I bought back in the day. They're a bit more innovative than most and yet still retain some great style.
Ryhan @ Sep 24th 2007 11:02PM
No offense, but I haven't found Samsung to be that "innovative". Similar to apple, I find that they focus mainly on design. Please prove me wrong...
Randavance @ Sep 25th 2007 7:12PM
Maybe inovative isn't the right word because most the ideas are not theres, but things like the K5s sliding built in speaker, the change of tactical buttons to smooth surface ones on some newer models, they almost always have an fm tuner and voice recorder, even things like the t9s zoom feature for viewing photos, they might not be as creative as some, but they deliver some cool features in a nice package.
Now if only they would add better codec support.
phelander @ Sep 24th 2007 10:22PM
You know, I don't know anything about this YP P2 industry talk all I know that is the magic that we recorded are on those tapes and we have to get those tapes back so we can get a record deal....
Montusama @ Sep 25th 2007 12:50AM
And the need for the P2 grows.....
John Doe @ Sep 25th 2007 1:46AM
People need to stop posting pictures on these damn bandwidth throttling sites. In the last 2 week's I've missed out on more screen shots of new products because of "This image removed because of high bandwidth usage." Gah! Find a real host damn it.
Montusama @ Sep 25th 2007 2:02AM
I totally agree....I use photobucket for all my pics...but if you don't post pics that have a large bw demand Its alright..
-Tj- @ Sep 25th 2007 5:49AM
Forgive me, for my immature mind can't help but think the name of this device is just a little silly-sounding.
"Why Pee-Pee Too"
Otherwise, seems like a cool device!
ilh @ Sep 25th 2007 6:27AM
I've turned it into a gun pachoo pachoo...peetoo peetoo...hah, yea...
