Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does this enable me to do that the Slingbox Pro does not ?
Does this enable me to watch the stream on my computer and watch a different channel on the cable box?
..like my slingbox tuner allows me now
I have the Slingbox A/V and think the picture quality is just fine over my 100BaseT network, and very good over the public infrastructure. Since you have the Pro, do you use the component input? If so, can you compare the quality of that versus the S-video input? I would think the compression would negate any real advantage of the component inputs, especially since they are analog.
I don't get it.. this is RGB/NO HDMI but the 'pro model' is HDMI/No RGB.
Is the HD image really that good over internet?
Actually, the "Pro Model" only has an HDMI port to plug into a Component breakout box, making it have the same ports as this. The HDMI connector doesn't actually accept HDMI.
There is NO HDMI on the PRO. You can't capture HDMI due to HDCP.
The port that looks like an HDMI port is just a connector for the external HD Connect dongle which allows you to connect component video to the PRO.
Add coax input of the Tuner/Pro models (keeping the component-in on the box without requiring the HD Connect Cable) and it would be even better.
I fail to see any benefit from this new box aside from looks!
Does it include a tuner?
What I want is the Sling Catcher!
I think I'm confused....and I already ordered one from Amazon. Ok, so this has a pass through so I don't need splitters right? Everyone's talking about HDMI and RGB, but it clearly has Component ins and outs. This should be superior to s-video (how much is questionable). Finally, what is the Sling Catcher? A device that allows me to watch my PC on a TV? I'm confused.
I'm looking forward to my purchase. $40 more for a Component Output...cool. I'm so glad to know that the pro doesn't have HDMI. That makes me feel better about my choice.
