iPhone World has been loosed upon the Earth today, namely:
VoIP. According to a company called
Truphone, they have unlocked the secret of IP telephony on the iPhone, and demonstrated said ability today at DEMOfall 07 in San Diego. Executing commands via the Terminal (i.e., on a phone which had been jailbroken), Truphone CEO James Tagg was able to call another mobile phone using only an IP connection -- all without breaking the SIM lock. According to the company, the software is still in beta, but they soon plan to have a version which will simplify activation, and allow seamless switching between WiFi and SIM use. Clearly, an exciting development for iPhone users, but a cringe-inducing situation for AT&T. Check the video after the break to see it all in action.

Well as a sprint employee (currently reading from work) yes, sprint is Unlimited. it works great, depending on software vers, device, and location. Seriously though folks - the only thing that I thought was cool about the iphone (after trying to type a text on it's screen that resembled chinese when done) was that it's now been hacked. This phone, other than looking beautiful - more like a work of art than a phone.
Everyone please unlock your iphone, and use Tmobile. YAY!
Hope everyone hasn't forgotten that Cisco/Linksys also have a VoIP iPhone....

Hm - all that buzz about what's been done with the iPhone, jailbreak, VoIP ... Is there a chance, Apple locked the phone just *to* *get* press about the unlockings, one by another? -- I mean, each time, the iPhone term needs to be mentioned.
That brings the picture to the mind, of a dog enjoying to gnaw off an old bone. Who gave it to the dog?
