HP's iPAQ 912 Business Messenger gets handled
Earlier this month, HP loosed details on its iPAQ 900 series of PDA phones, and for those itching to get a closer look at this handheld, AVing has the goods. As expected, this sucka looks a tad large when compared to one's palm, but we're sure it'll still warm the hearts of some. Without further ado, head on past the break for a few more snapshots.

Looks like a Dash, smells like an HTC S630, feels like an IPAQ?!? WTF?
mmm...520Mhz cpu speed...there goes the battery life -doh!
ItsTheOMGShow @ Sep 27th 2007 8:28AM
yeah but if you read the spec sheet, the thing has an 1840mah which is even better than Treos, the current king of the hill in the battery dept.
no longer. WE WANT THIS ON CDMA!!

anyway all handhelds have to be charged nearly everyday...
at least with a faster processor you can run satnav, movies, etc without lagging too much

Did anyone else notice the 'September 11th' date?
I guess it's just me, but seeing that date still sends chills.

I'm sorry, it looks like a 240x240, but it says 320x240
I remove my sarcasm from "impressive" :)
Now when can they start cooking the ROM and get rid of some of the junk that HP puts on their devices? :)
Lorne @ Sep 27th 2007 8:39AM
oooohhh
240x240 screen. Very modern and impressive
/sarcasm
Raistlin @ Sep 27th 2007 9:33AM
Uhh, that screen is 320x240, it's just a small horizontally orientated 320x240... which makes it far more useful for 3rd party apps and web browsing than my current ipaq hw6915, although I still think if I change phones next, it'll be the HTC TyTN II/Kaiser

Not that bad looking. Looks pretty business-like, and has features up to the the gills.
techthumper @ Sep 27th 2007 9:00AM
Looks nice, slightly big, full of features!!! Battery does look beefy and full of juice. HP website says $599 for the smaller (but equally feature packed) IPAQ610 Business Navigator. Wonder if Navigator and Messenger are meant to be different in any way!!! (except for the screen orientation)

It has a Qwerty keyboard on it whereas the 6xx has a numpad

As the IT companies getting more and more frugal, screens are getting smaller and smaller. If you price it at $600, at least make that screen a little bigger, I see a lot of empty unused space for that. It just annoys me a lot.
Wildember @ Sep 29th 2007 1:31AM
The screen looks like a 320x240 landscape setup like on the Dash or the Blackjack. The unit's got me drooling, just what I've been waiting for. Wonder what the resolution will do to the medical reference programs I need. All these units are targeted for professionals. Shame it's become more of a status symbol; saw so many high school kids with Curves, Dashes, Treos, Blackjacks...all tesxting...at least they can use full words now...

Anyone know if it will be unlocked or what carrier will have it?
Joe @ Dec 13th 2007 8:38PM
I've only heard of it being locked to a carrier, but that really doesn't mean much nowdays :)
