It looks like Nintendo's
exodus from Redmond continues to have repercussions with some familiar names at the company, with senior public relations director Beth Llewelyn now making it official that she won't be making the move to the big N's new San Francisco office. This follows a
similar announcement from Senior VP of Marketing George Harrison earlier this month, leaving
Perrin Kaplin the last of the big three rumored departures to make up her mind about the move. According to GamesIndustry.biz, Llewelyn's last day at Nintendo will be on September 28th, after which she says she'll be "taking some time off to be a full-time mom for a bit." No word on a successor just yet, but it looks like Nintendo will soon have quite a few positions to fill if things continue at this pace.
good good now we can actually get some real PR
Nintendo doesn't need PR right now--they need games. And, not just casual games. In 2008, Nintendo's gonna go crushed by MS and Sony if it doesnt watch out.
And we should care because....? Unless she is a gadget..
It's better than more Apple news.
Woo. A corporation is re-locating one of their offices to a new place just over a thousand miles away, and people don't want to move to keep their job. Hooray to engadget for reporting this latest of breaking events!
I'd tap that.
lol. I was considering posting "I'd hit it!", but I was beat to the punch.
Dude you sure you got the resolution turned up on your monitor??? I'm right now imagining Jim Carrey and his dry heaving faces. If I had to stand next to her my dick would go from an outie to an innie.
Sorry Rick, but some of us aren't that picky. I'll even take "sloppy seconds". :-o
Yes, but the real question is can she play Doom?
She kinda looks like Rosie O'Donnell. Nintendo would be better off not having her head their PR Dept anyways...
You'll make a great mom Beth! xxx!
No, this IS significant.
I'm not sure WHY Nintendo decided to move a perfectly functioning office from a beautiful but rather expensive corner of the USA to an almost-as-beautiful but very much more expensive corner. Can someone explain?
But a MASSIVE proportion of their staff seem to be refusing to move with them and that includes a large percentage of the senior staff. By the sounds of it, they're virtually going to be setting up fresh in SF.
Moving offices is a major shock to any business but you at least hope that you've got the same staff - the individuals can get on with their existing jobs even though they can't find a working photocopier - person A knows that person B is in charge of issue C (and has a good working relationship with them cos they've worked together for years).
But if you lose staff then everything's up in the air. The new VP of X doesn't know if issue A is his responsibility. The VP of Y doesn't know either cos he's new too. And nobody can find the filing cabinet with the paperwork in it etc etc.
This is going to be a MAJOR issue for Nintendo. If I was them I'd take a leaf out of Palm's book and cancel the whole thing. It'll cost less in the long run.
(Although I'll admit again I don't know WHY they're moving. I hope they factored losing all their management into the cost/benefit analysis!).
Most gaming Magazine/Website and Video Game Publisher head offices are in California.
Well someone will have to ask Reggie why hey are moving next time he's around..
But if anything I think Nintendo wants a more broad presence in the US, so don't be surprise if they open shop up on the east coast also...
It's something they don't have being stuck right next to Microsoft, which I wouldn't be surprise to buy Nintendo's entire land by 2015
why would anyone want to move from WA to CA? Bad move by the BigN.
She's cute.
Maybe because they'd like to see sunshine for more than 4 months of the year.
LMFAO! That's why I love the Bay Area.
She looks like a young Meredeth from "The Office" which premiered today. 4th Season is going to be siiick.
That's understandable. San Francisco is a terrible place to live if you have a family. It's no secret that the schools and the city are terrible place to raise kids.
