Sony about to release another YouTube-centric camcorder?
We've already seen Sony's first shameless attempt to court the YouTube crowd with the NSC-GC1 5 megapixel web-corder, but a quick look through the instruction manual reveals specs for another model, the NSC-GC3, which apparently cuts shooting time down from 2 hours to just 29 minutes. We're not certain if that's because of higher resolution or less memory, but either way, expect the GC3 to make an appearance soon.

Do any of the viral videos ever look like somebody was walking around with a camcorder waiting for something to happen? No... They just happened to be recording and something funny just happened to happen, so I don't see why Sony would think that anybody would ever buy a camcorder just for the same of recording.

Weasel word alert! This is totally unacceptable standard of editorial! Somebody must get a serious botty spanky and sit on the naughty chair without the Teletubbies! Such unprofessional attitude should be renegaded to the backwaters of the internet blogs like Jizzmodo.

THE SONY NSC-GC1 IS DEFECTIVE!!
Please read my full review on amazon about it when searching for this product.
When rotating the screen the full 270 degrees (or 180 after flipping it open) to take a photo of yourself, it shows your mirror image on the screen (i.e. INVERTED image). If you try to take a photo of yourself the long way (full body shot, vertically), it shows you UPSIDE DOWN! Please note this problem only occurs on screen when rotated the full 180 degrees. This has personally occurred to me on two cameras I purchased through Circuit City and one through Sony. So it looks like this defect is widespread. Additionally, past Sony models with rotating screens like the DSC-M1 and DSC-M2 have not has this issue. Please help spread the word to Sony about this, one voice is not enough!! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

ZOMG CRISIS. Well maybe you can use the [rotate] button when you're uploading your cheesy photos of yourself to myspace.

The point is that the 180 degree rotating screen is useless to even have if its not going to let you see yourself properly (in my case, taking a couples shot w/ my gf). And yes, it is a crisis for many who purchased it for that rotating capability.

I don't understand, what makes it Youtube centric? Do they include special software to pre-format it for upload or something?
Darkest Daze @ Sep 28th 2007 3:49AM
It automatically adds 30 seconds of Sony commercials before each video.
Kal-El @ Sep 27th 2007 9:29PM
I hope this thing will include optical zoom.
