See, here's the thing about Vertu phones: anyone who's wealthy enough to afford one probably wants (and can afford) more than one, probably doesn't care about newfangled goodies like 3G or a large, high resolution display, and probably keeps a Ferrari or two in the garage. On that note we give you the "Ascent Ferrari 60," the Nokia division's second Ferrari-themed handset. Unlike the
first -- which happened to also be an Ascent -- the Ferrari 60 features a shift gate on its posterior instead of a brake pedal, which clearly makes it worth the €18,000 (about $25,370) asking price. Of course, that hefty cost of admission also nets you an elaborately fashioned storage box, a
Vertu Aerius headset, and an actual valve out of a Ferrari F1 car, so the 60 lucky sons of guns that grab this thing are in for a treat (if valves and outdated Bluetooth headsets are your thing). Check it out at Nokia's London, Paris, Singapore, and Hong Kong locations.

THE iPHONE IS STILL MORE EXPENSIVE!
Preston @ Sep 27th 2007 1:42PM
My only question is why?
joe23521 @ Sep 27th 2007 2:08PM
If your money is just rotting in the bank, why not?
ja$on @ Sep 27th 2007 3:02PM
Why?
To let everyone know that they have a very small penis.
They can't always be driving their Ferrari around.
Z @ Sep 27th 2007 1:42PM
I think the brake paddle design is better, since you would need to STOP your ferrari to take a call on your ferrari phone, unless you want to test your ferrari's getaway ability of course.
mikekorpi @ Sep 27th 2007 1:45PM
The only people that bother me more than the people who come up with this idea are the people who buy them.
When there is so much more good one can do with their money, why do people waste their time with this crap? It's just rich people handing their money to other rich people. A$$H0LE$.
SyKoTiC @ Sep 27th 2007 1:55PM
Took the words out of my mouth.

There's a Vertu shop in Times Square, Hong Kong.
It's empty 99.999% of the time. I wonder how they pay the rent.
chris @ Sep 27th 2007 2:04PM
by the price of that thing, the 0.001% people who go there probably buy a couple of phones and thats enough sales for the year :P
Joe @ Sep 27th 2007 2:06PM
Sweet! More proof that life is all about perception and our hopes of others perceiving that we are unique and shallow, just like everyone else.
Joe @ Sep 27th 2007 2:10PM
Now if they only made a 1.5 mil Spider with a 4 cylinder, we'd be set.
Juaquin @ Sep 27th 2007 2:29PM
For that kind of money you had better get unlimited data and talk for the lifetime of the phone, especially considering the lack of any real features.
BPM (FDF - Hypno-Toad) @ Sep 27th 2007 2:56PM
Wow. That phone looks... horrible. I'm willing to bet that 90% of the pricetag is pure profit...
h8rain @ Sep 27th 2007 3:12PM
Considering the phone has nothing that is that expensive, I would venture a guess that the phone costs less than $500 to make. So it would be more like 95% profit :)
ja$on @ Sep 27th 2007 3:15PM
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. I'm willing to be that 99% of the price is pure profit.
ja$on @ Sep 27th 2007 3:15PM
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. I'm willing to bet that 99% of the price is pure profit.
teej @ Sep 27th 2007 4:00PM
Engineering costs plus Ferrari brand name costs make up a good portion of the price. They will sell a very limited # of phones, and they have to split these costs amongst this low number, thus, jacking up the price. Also, they're doing limited production runs (unlike other Nokia phones, see thousands), which drives up each unit's material cost.
teej @ Sep 27th 2007 4:05PM
BUT, in all honesty, it looks like a POS. i'd rather have a baller gold phone (http://www.intomobile.com/2007/08/23/lg-ke850-prada-phone-plated-in-24-karat-gold.html) for less.
3rdsun @ Sep 27th 2007 3:27PM
Only one sale would put us in the green
Kurtis @ Sep 27th 2007 3:40PM
no.
Nathan Soliz @ Sep 27th 2007 3:55PM
for 25k it should be inlaid with a diamond, platinum screws, engraved Ferrari items all over, and a far better stitching job than what I see there.
In reality it is worth $400.00
Spencer Smith @ Sep 27th 2007 4:07PM
How dumb...
Harbinger @ Sep 27th 2007 4:25PM
This post has it in reverse. I actually bought my Ferrari to go with my new Vertu phone.
T.W.G @ Sep 27th 2007 5:15PM
You guys should see a vertu ascent phone in real life: Very descent and stylish! A beautiful one with high quality manufacturing.
They showed on TV (here in Germany) how the boss of Vertu took his phone, layed it down on the street, drove over the phone with this Porsche and then took the phone back to resume his call.
Great!
Zak @ Sep 27th 2007 5:59PM
Just thinking of all the times I have driven over my phone........Hmmm
Nope can't think of one!
Seeing as my phone cost me 100 Dollars I can go out into the real world safe in the knowledge that if I drive over 250 of my phones them damn! I should have bought this phone in the first place.
Johannes @ Sep 27th 2007 5:15PM
Peasants. The whole lot of you. If you can't afford this, which of course you can't, fine. But what annoys me the most are ppl whose social envy drives them to commit to opinions, which, with a different account balance, the wouldn't endorse. Which makes them about as worthy of an opinion, or even a reply to their post for that matter, as any brainwashed monkey.
Some ppl can afford this, they want it exactly because other people cannot have it, and therefore buy exclusivity. What's wrong with that?
Wonderboy @ Sep 28th 2007 4:27PM
The fact that you are so pretentious to assume the lot of "peasants" you are referring to cannot afford this phone makes your post asinine. Not to mention, the fact you are assuming the opinions posted in this forum are directly affected by the amount of money [said peasant] has in their bank account at the time of post, makes this incoherent thought you fingerwhip onto this forum offensive and ignorant. Unless you are being sarcastic, in which case......funny post.
zian5 @ Sep 28th 2007 11:52AM
What's wrong is that they you're probably working your behind for them so they can lay you off when bonus is not big enough and spend yours to-be money on that phone :-)
jamesc @ Sep 27th 2007 5:25PM
People who buy this thing deserve to lose 25,000$ of their money.
But seriously what is this, some kind of ultimate-stupidity test?
How shallow do you have to be to buy this?!
telepheedian @ Sep 27th 2007 6:21PM
If you want an idea of how low end the internals are, go to Vertu's website, click on "for owners", then click on "use your Vertu".
Looks like Nokia needed to burn off some ancient chipsets, I'm frankly surprised that there is even bluetooth in the internals of that beast.
Rowan @ Sep 27th 2007 6:26PM
I want to become rich. And I'm pretty sure that I'll get there (someday).
However, if one of you guys ever sees me with a Vertu phone, please do me a favour and slap me hard across the face.
Has anybody given thought to what happens if you actually lose the phone?
And yes, with 1000 dollars, you can feed the whole of Ethopia for one year.
With 25 gran, I guess we could turn Addis Ababa into Tokyo :P
emjoi @ Sep 27th 2007 6:49PM
Even as a vanity, prestige object it fails.
You'll pull it out at a meeting, hoping to look impressive, and the other guys will be sending emails, browsing the web, videoconferencing etc... they'll have expensive phones that actually do things.
But at least yours has a nifty leather jacket.
Keying @ Sep 27th 2007 7:03PM
I would love to key this thing.
Tuxy79 @ Sep 27th 2007 7:11PM
Friggen Gorgeous, stupidly expensive, I'd take this over an iPhone.

Looks like a tacky design from about 1985.
Wonderboy @ Sep 28th 2007 4:26PM
Anyone who would be willing to buy this phone for $25k with as little functionality it has, is a pawn plain and simple. This just proves that any highend manufacturer can sell anything with an outrageous, undeserved price tag and the sheep will flock. Makes you realize that the people with the means to do great things are just compliant fools.
Proves I can take a lump of shit, stamp Gucci on it, and laugh as the suckers bite and scratch to be the first to have it.
