WowWee's radio-controlled Barry B. Benson flying Bee

What do you get when you cross the FlyTech Dragonfly with Jerry Seinfeld? Well, if you're WowWee and Dreamworks you get a radio-controlled Barry B. Benson, star of the upcoming Bee Movie animated release. 6x AA batteries provide enough juice to propel the $50 critter "close to 18 miles an hour." Unfortunately, it will likely possess a range of just 30-feet like its Dragonfly cuz when it lands in October.

With a range of 30 feet and a top speed of 18 miles per hour, that means if flying straight this thing will be out of controller range in... umm, either 4 minutes or 13 nanoseconds.

If that last part about it having a 30foot range is a joke its a pretty bad one. I don't see it mentioned anywhere on that link provided.

Hey next time you mention the iphone why don't you throw in a joke about the batteries dying out early and replacements costing $100....since your in the game of spreading misinformation.

The owner's manual for the FlyTech Dragonfly states an operating range of 50 feet. (http://www.wowweesupport.com/pdf/Dragonfly_Manual.pdf)

There may be something in the design of the Bee (it looks more bulky) which limits its capabilities.

18MPH is about 26ft/s. If those numbers are right, you can go from at the controller to the extent of its range in just over a second, assuming instantaneous accelleration. That just doesn't make sense. That's also very fast, and I think it's probably too much of a liability at that speed, so I'll wait for the reviews.
