Ginormous RAZR 2 crashes into Mercedes, film at eleven
They sure do look beautiful flying in formation during their annual migration, but when one of Illinois's rare Aves Razeruses crashes and burns on a busy Moscow street corner, well, it's never a pretty sight. Check out another pic of the carnage after the break...

That kids is why texting and driving DONT mix.
Paul @ Sep 30th 2007 4:44PM
Is it just me or is that bigger than the original razr?
Tristan @ Sep 30th 2007 5:14PM
that there bluetooth integrates the two beautifully
Paul @ Sep 30th 2007 5:32PM
so that's what they're talking about when they say that bluetooth and higher capacity will increase the size of the touch.
Eric Leung @ Oct 1st 2007 2:03AM
did they forget to convert from metric to American units again?
Elliot @ Oct 1st 2007 7:49AM
that's the one with extended battery life
Low @ Sep 30th 2007 3:20PM
'Aves Razeruses' is 'Flying Razor' in Russian, right?
US @ Sep 30th 2007 3:21PM
no, i think it is latin. russian would be alot different.
Nikita @ Sep 30th 2007 3:23PM
no it is not. it's an attempt to latin-ify it to make it sound like a technical species names. russian would be more like letushie razerye
Zajats @ Oct 1st 2007 11:18AM
It sounds "letuschie lezviya" in Russian )

Wait so how exactly did this happen?
ray @ Sep 30th 2007 4:14PM
It's a marketing campaign, if you click the link it shows that the car is sitting beside a big razr2 billboard. Surely the unrealistic damage would make this obvious?
Paul @ Sep 30th 2007 4:45PM
@ray
that's what I was thinking...

Viral Marketing what?
mushrooshi @ Sep 30th 2007 3:25PM
That phone seemed to fare better than the car.
waiownsyou @ Sep 30th 2007 3:28PM
Wow, that phone must of fell out of like a 20-story building 'cause there's now way that something like that would make the whole right side look like it was hit by a truck... even the trunk popped up.
computer.dude.28 @ Sep 30th 2007 8:59PM
You're joking, Right?
jbcaro @ Sep 30th 2007 3:30PM
Has to be some kind of publicity stunt for something. No way that an over-sized mock-up of a cell phone could do that much damage to a car and look completely unscathed itself.
Andrew @ Sep 30th 2007 6:26PM
You know, I think you're onto something there.
patrick @ Sep 30th 2007 3:31PM
It's funny how now the mercedes looks like a C-Class but it's an E-Class

Ginormous RAZR 2 crashes into Mercedes, giving carphone a new meaning (my title is superior).

touche
Nomi @ Sep 30th 2007 3:43PM
Click on to the read link...its actually a publicity stunt, car has no plates, right in front of an ad thats a few feet higher, etc...
Grant @ Sep 30th 2007 3:54PM
yeah, it's gotta be.
especially considering it fits in perfectly with their most recent advertising campaign.
and what did that car "crash" into exactly? theres nothing there for it to have hit the way it looks.
it's an ad. period.
BorgKing @ Sep 30th 2007 3:47PM
Screw with the iPhone, they brick your phone.
Screw with Motorola, they brick your life!
Kozzi @ Sep 30th 2007 3:47PM
Well.. someone dropped the phone.
jowett @ Sep 30th 2007 3:48PM
This is a publicity stunt. I saw something like this while vacationing in Bangkok a few years back.

Giant Nike Ball on a BMW
Constable Odo @ Sep 30th 2007 3:48PM
Jolly Green Giant was looking for his RAZR2. I'll tell him where to find it.
Ian @ Sep 30th 2007 3:55PM
Just goes to show that one shouldn't drive and use a cell phone at the same time.

Nubaeus @ Sep 30th 2007 4:12PM
Damn transformers always dropping their phones. Good thing they paid $10 for insurance.
Reader @ Sep 30th 2007 4:13PM
Huh, I always thought the razer seemed pretty flimsy, guess not.
Model No.15 @ Sep 30th 2007 4:14PM
doesn't this seem just a little bit fabricated? Didn't motorola make a TV ad that had two people fighting and the phone was used as a knife, as both a play on word from its name and to show how thin it is?
It may seem stupid, but consider how desperate advertisers are to sell proudest. They have gotten more creative and use every growing technology and trends to sell the products. EX: record companies debuting artists via youtube instead of the main stream norm. How about that insurance company that developed that large scale add, making it appear as if real paint from another add pored out of the poster and onto all of the cars an ground under it.
Besides, for a object like that to fall and crush that car the way it did... is a little far fetched. Usually large 3D objects built onto bill boards are made of plastic or some other light-weight material. This is mainly to keep the cost down. In addition, as hinted from a image on the blog were this is from, the bill board wasn't that high up, so even if it really did fall, the mass vs. distance of travel simply doesn't compute.
you may make fun of me, but think about it for a sec... just how far are companies going to make sure they put a stake in the media for the a product. They are all trying to beat companies like Apple... a company that never officially said they were making a phone and yet they had the biggest world wide attention... that hasn't happened since Windows 95.
ray @ Sep 30th 2007 4:17PM
Umm, didn't you click the link? It's an *official* marketing campaign by motorola and in the other pics it is right beside a razr2 billboard. There was never any doubt that this wasn't just viral marketing.
Model No.15 @ Sep 30th 2007 4:26PM
honestly I did click the links, but it never clearly said thats what it was.
... wait hold that thought... i tried the links again to make sure i didn't over look something and yet the links brought me to a page that does confirm my squirrely stupidity. I'm sorry. For some reason the link i clicked earlier only brought me to a page of more pics and nothing els.. i don't know if it was a bad link of my computer or what. but i swear the first link said nothing about it being a marketing thing... so i had the feeling that is was a true event that occurred and not the advertisers being fuckers.
sorry.
crescentdavid @ Sep 30th 2007 4:17PM
aj: what do your letters stand for: advertising jackoff? If not, your sister is also an idiot.
As far as the razr goes ... isn't it true that streaming traffic reports can cut your commute time almost in half ... ?
nfoo @ Sep 30th 2007 4:26PM
Fake viral! ;)
