Ginormous RAZR 2 crashes into Mercedes, film at eleven
They sure do look beautiful flying in formation during their annual migration, but when one of Illinois's rare Aves Razeruses crashes and burns on a busy Moscow street corner, well, it's never a pretty sight. Check out another pic of the carnage after the break...

That kids is why texting and driving DONT mix.
Is it just me or is that bigger than the original razr?
that there bluetooth integrates the two beautifully
so that's what they're talking about when they say that bluetooth and higher capacity will increase the size of the touch.
did they forget to convert from metric to American units again?
that's the one with extended battery life
'Aves Razeruses' is 'Flying Razor' in Russian, right?
no, i think it is latin. russian would be alot different.
no it is not. it's an attempt to latin-ify it to make it sound like a technical species names. russian would be more like letushie razerye
It sounds "letuschie lezviya" in Russian )
owned
*Insert predictably-bad-joke here*
Wait so how exactly did this happen?
It's a marketing campaign, if you click the link it shows that the car is sitting beside a big razr2 billboard. Surely the unrealistic damage would make this obvious?
@ray
that's what I was thinking...
In Soviet Russia, phones fork you!
lol.....thanks for the laugh
hahahahaha
Viral Marketing what?
That phone seemed to fare better than the car.
Wow, that phone must of fell out of like a 20-story building 'cause there's now way that something like that would make the whole right side look like it was hit by a truck... even the trunk popped up.
You're joking, Right?
Has to be some kind of publicity stunt for something. No way that an over-sized mock-up of a cell phone could do that much damage to a car and look completely unscathed itself.
You know, I think you're onto something there.
It's funny how now the mercedes looks like a C-Class but it's an E-Class
giving carphone new meaning.
Ginormous RAZR 2 crashes into Mercedes, giving carphone a new meaning (my title is superior).
Can you hear me NOW ?
touche
Fake viral! ;)
The Russians unwittingly released they're much discussed giant Naomi Campbell on an unsuspecting world!
Click on to the read link...its actually a publicity stunt, car has no plates, right in front of an ad thats a few feet higher, etc...
yeah, it's gotta be.
especially considering it fits in perfectly with their most recent advertising campaign.
and what did that car "crash" into exactly? theres nothing there for it to have hit the way it looks.
it's an ad. period.
Screw with the iPhone, they brick your phone.
Screw with Motorola, they brick your life!
This is a publicity stunt. I saw something like this while vacationing in Bangkok a few years back.
Check this picture. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jowett/1464778478/
Giant Nike Ball on a BMW
Well.. someone dropped the phone.
Jolly Green Giant was looking for his RAZR2. I'll tell him where to find it.
Just goes to show that one shouldn't drive and use a cell phone at the same time.
Another angle of the giant Nike ball on the BMW

Это понтовый РАЗР!
wow, way to have an original ad campaign!
Damn transformers always dropping their phones. Good thing they paid $10 for insurance.
doesn't this seem just a little bit fabricated? Didn't motorola make a TV ad that had two people fighting and the phone was used as a knife, as both a play on word from its name and to show how thin it is?
It may seem stupid, but consider how desperate advertisers are to sell proudest. They have gotten more creative and use every growing technology and trends to sell the products. EX: record companies debuting artists via youtube instead of the main stream norm. How about that insurance company that developed that large scale add, making it appear as if real paint from another add pored out of the poster and onto all of the cars an ground under it.
Besides, for a object like that to fall and crush that car the way it did... is a little far fetched. Usually large 3D objects built onto bill boards are made of plastic or some other light-weight material. This is mainly to keep the cost down. In addition, as hinted from a image on the blog were this is from, the bill board wasn't that high up, so even if it really did fall, the mass vs. distance of travel simply doesn't compute.
you may make fun of me, but think about it for a sec... just how far are companies going to make sure they put a stake in the media for the a product. They are all trying to beat companies like Apple... a company that never officially said they were making a phone and yet they had the biggest world wide attention... that hasn't happened since Windows 95.
Umm, didn't you click the link? It's an *official* marketing campaign by motorola and in the other pics it is right beside a razr2 billboard. There was never any doubt that this wasn't just viral marketing.
honestly I did click the links, but it never clearly said thats what it was.
... wait hold that thought... i tried the links again to make sure i didn't over look something and yet the links brought me to a page that does confirm my squirrely stupidity. I'm sorry. For some reason the link i clicked earlier only brought me to a page of more pics and nothing els.. i don't know if it was a bad link of my computer or what. but i swear the first link said nothing about it being a marketing thing... so i had the feeling that is was a true event that occurred and not the advertisers being fuckers.
sorry.
Huh, I always thought the razer seemed pretty flimsy, guess not.
Looks like an assassination attempt. It's surprising they would use such solid materials for a huge mock-up like that.
aj: what do your letters stand for: advertising jackoff? If not, your sister is also an idiot.
As far as the razr goes ... isn't it true that streaming traffic reports can cut your commute time almost in half ... ?
cmon, in london they did that with a black cab, they use like big cartons which gives this effects ! well done, but a bit lame !
why do I have the feeling Dom Joly had something to do with this?
Gives dropped calls a whole new meaning.
Haaaa, by far yours was the best funny comment so far :) nice1
Gosh -then they must be using At&T! painful...
I guess the car didn't miss god's calling.
God must have dropped his razr again...
if god uses a razr, jesus uses an iphone...
sweet, father v's son deathmatch!
looks like photoshop to me...
This is definitely fake.
That Motorola is way too big to carry around.
Wow and I thought things were bigger in Texas!
So God does exist? ..And he uses a RAZR? :O
Hello, Moto.
Photoshopped...
At least it wasn't a iPhone
Y'know, I seriously thought it dropped off a billboard or something until I clicked the read link. I'll also try my hand at a quick joke here... Ahem:
Guess the scrap yard used the wrong kind of Razr to chop the car!
...I'll get my coat.
I think both the post here and the other site should credit the original poster, Englishrussia.com
don't bring a car to a phone fight...
nah...that barely makes sense...
In Soviet Russia, you don't brick cell phones. Cell phones brick YOU!
:P

Daimle-Benz and Motorola announced their co-operative project today. The automobile and mobile communication giants are intending to create a new 'fusion' of their technologies.
Initial 'fusions by force' have proved only partially successful, but both parties admit that they are still in the teething stage.
One Daimler Benz employee was quoted as saying "initial force fusion efforts made the two technologies stick, but results are not cutting it".
This is staged. I work for a popular cell phone company and we have a razr2 that is very big like that and cut at an angle on the botton half just like this one so that it looks like it's protruding from the wall. They must have just stuck it on the wrecked car. Pretty funny though.
Thats gotta be some funky russian marketing.
Not a speck of glass on the ground.
I guess thats one way to make it hands free.
Can you hear me now?
LOL. Now I'm thinking maybe I should bring my razr2 display back inside! Don't want to make Merc. Look bad!
The link in the post is screwed up, unless Evan really meant to link to "Engagdet", which sounds like a very kinky geek site.
So how does mercedes feel about an ad like this? to suggest their cars are so flimsy. isn't there some rule against that in russia?
Or does mercedes go with the old axiom 'there is no bad publicity'?
i guess those "razor" phones are not so "tiny" harharhar.. *punchline_drumrole*
don't drive while on the phone....
Why not a nice beer can trashing a car, that gives out a more.. positive message.
hmmm.... it was more interesting when it was first posted on english russia....
http://englishrussia.com/?p=1518#more-1518
more photos there, too...
Those pictures are manipulated! But funny marketing stunt by the RAZR team...
..can you hear me now, dammit!
That's not a big phone, that's a very very small car.
这奔驰也太不结实了啊!~
Ije, isso tudo é hiláário.
Queria q fosse aqui.....
Ha ha, "check out the CARnage", now that was really punny.
I can't believe people didn't realize this was obviously a promotional thing, and worse yet might have even thought it was real (although no one can be that stupid, I have to assume those people are joking, I just have to... must not lose... faith... in humanity....)
That's one sharp RAZR.
