HTC's HSDPA toting S730 QWERTY and P6500 GPS phones get official
That was quick. Just a few hours after peeping their S730 in the wild, HTC has upped and made it official. They also pushed out the P6500 enterprise phone to keep it safe and feeling protected. The S730 is just what we heard: 400MHz Qualcomm processor, "worldwide 3G," HSDPA data, WiFi (of course), auto-sliding QWERTY, and Windows Mobile 6 with 256MB of flash memory. The 3G/HSDPA P6500 then, targets vertical sectors including logistics companies, hospitals and the police by combining Windows Mobile 6 Professional with a 3.5-inch screen, 3 megapixel autofocus camera, barcode and fingerprint scanning capabilities, GPS, and 2x SDIO slots for additional memory or accessories. It even boasts a remote-wipe capability to keep all your dirty little conspiracies under wraps where they belong. The S730 hits Europe in October while the P6500 is set to pop in November. Again, no pricing.

Why don't we ever get any good HTC love here in the States?? That is one sweet phone!
Ed Churchward @ Oct 1st 2007 8:17AM
Every windows mobile phone on Exchange has remote wipe already. It is all done server side, it is very useful.
Fernando @ Oct 1st 2007 8:26AM
Hah! That was quick was the first thing that came to my mind also.
SV @ Oct 1st 2007 8:27AM
Those phones are again with only QVGA, i.e. 240x320 or 77K pixel LCD. Forget it, who need to see the crap with resolution like in 10-fold re-recorded VCR or TVs circa 1947 ??! This is NOT suitable for comfort vision and browsing. The 3-3.5" LCD MUST BE MINIMUM VGA, because the angular dimension is what important, not dimension itself. This 3.5" LCD in your hands is equivalent to 30-40" screen monitor at normal viewing distance, or 60" if closer to the eyes.
I dunno what HTC is doing...It's like plasma TV with QVGA resolution for retards...
shoey5 @ Oct 1st 2007 8:44AM
I agree with SV! HTC is still working with the same design they released years ago.
PRO:
SureType keyboard,
HTC Touch/Homescreen
CON:
QVGA old technology
HTC Homescreen useless with QVGA resolution
TRI-Band!
Pysical Size

MAIcrosoft @ Oct 1st 2007 9:39AM
@shoey5: you know why they do that? because it makes money. repeat what you allready have mastered, improments/innovation come later.

Know this joke, right? :
Q:what is faster then a speed of light?
A:a person with a coupon
"Cheap stuff sells all the time and lots of it" (c). Ask Walmart.
Wow, for 2007 HTC added 0.128GB of flash memory (+ $0.5 to Bill-of-Materials which is 30 bucks) and changed the plastic.
DrNeuralgia @ Oct 1st 2007 10:48AM
where does it say it's WinMo "Professional" aka Touchscreen on the S730? at least not in that link.
I can see on the HTC welcome screen, but not sure.

Bluetooth probably is crap like all their new WM6 phones so far - problem with Mogul/6800/Kaiser.
Adam Moore @ Oct 1st 2007 11:34AM
I don't believe it is WM Pro. It does not have a touch screen. I have been wanting this phone since I've seen the drawn pics. This is perfect for me. I hate touch screen dialing and my current phone, blackjack, doesn't make dialing easy enough, small buttons for big fingers. Too bad Europe gets all the good phones first.
Jon Isacson @ Oct 1st 2007 12:15PM
Eh... the S730 has the shutter button on the wrong side. Compare it to a camera or other cameraphone (like the K800i), it's always on the right side.
Martijn van der Maas @ Oct 2nd 2007 2:57PM
Today I could experience the S730. I posted a small (no sound) hands-on:

Hey guys-
I have the HTC S710 (Vox), previous version without 3G. I live in VA and don't have 3G where I live anyways. The S710 rocks, only hang-up I have is its a little slow with a 200MHz processor, but they doubled it for this one.
I bought the S710 from overseas, because its exactly what I wanted. It is the tiniest slider you will find IMO. Screen size is fine for me as I don't spend all the time on the Web with EDGE, and can only sometimes find a free WiFi spot. I use if for e-mail and general browsing without having to pay for AT&T's stupid PUSH technology fee they rape you with on other smartphones. Just switched SIMS and pay
Fitz @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:41PM
got cut off...
anyway...pay
Fitz @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:43PM
WTF!
pay less than $60 per mo with NO CONTRACT!
Don't use carrot signs or they won't display anything you write after that!
