HTC's S730 Vox-followup spotted in the wild?
If these spy shots of the purported S730 are to be believed, then HTC looks to be drumming up a successor to their S710 Vox. Besides sporting an improved 400MHz Qualcomm processor and 3G radio, we're told that it features a like, totally, "way better keyboard," Bluetooth, and the "excellent build quality" we expect from an HTC device. We can also see a new front-facing camera and WiFi option in that picture above. With any luck, HTC will make it official at one of their rumored announcements coming today and tomorrow. Until then, hit the read link for plenty more pics.

Damn I should have waited for this sucker. Bought my S710 in April and it's just that tad too slow to be a great phone. TyTN II which got released here three weeks ago also looks damn good.. except for the fact that it's 300 euro's more expensive as the S710. But that's why you get all the extra's ;)

Yea I get it. The phone came from heaven but will some please tell me if this will be available in the U.S. If so, I'm getting it, period. If not, then I'm still waiting to upgrade.

Am i the only one noticing that the HTC Touch in the comparison shots have a 3G camera on the front??
The current model does not have a camera on the front!

The TouchII (codename Nike) available in Japan and on a few other Asian countries 3G Carriers has the front camera and full HSDPA+GSM 3G support.

umm i dont know if anyone is aware of this. but that phone clearly shows fido in the 3g. and if u guys dont know fido is in canada and belongs to rogers now. im very surprised it says fido on this phone since rogers rarely gives fido any high end phones

Qualcomm.. that means CDMA? Which means I might actually get a decent phone on my verizon service!
Ready the fingers crossed position.
Mark @ Oct 1st 2007 12:23PM
Nope, sorry Qualcomm is not necessarily CDMA. The S720 already exists, its just a long wait for Verizon and Sprint to get the device. Its been launched on Telus in Canada and on Qwest in the US.
S720 = S730 minus Wifi.
Charles @ Oct 10th 2007 4:18PM
Can anyone confirm whether this device has a built-in GPS as initially rumored?
Jason Morgan @ Oct 14th 2007 3:37PM
Yes it has GPS, theres a blog somewhere online with images and a write up about it working with Google maps.
To whomever said they would buy it if this comes out in the US, just import it. I currently have Sprint and have been waiting for the s720 since March, as its still not out for anyone (Telus and Qwest not counted) I am just going to dump CDMA and import this phone, better anyway.
After so many months, these last few weeks till this ones release are painfull, and my current phone is fighting every minute of it.
I do hope however that like the image posted on HTC's webpage we can get the menu set up like the Touch Slide, that main menu look is very slick and cleans up the somewhat bland WM home screen.
Walker Moore @ Nov 25th 2007 10:55PM
The GPS is a contentious issue. The chipset supports it, but more recent review models appear unable to utilize it at all. Perhaps HTC will allow people to enable it with a future upgrade.
As for the touted "excellent build quality", the many s710 users whose earpieces became faulty with no resolution might just dispute that. I'd like to order a s730, but HTC's inability to even acknowledge that fault makes me a very reluctant consumer.
It's a great phone for the price, provided the hardware is up to the job this time. ;)
