I have one of these cameras, purchased in late september. Talked to Canon directly this morning after perusing their website, testing my camera, and finding that indeed, my camera is effected.
The response was pretty good; could be a lot worse. I will be issued a pre-paid mailing label to send the camera to the nearest Canon service center; but that they won't start doing these repairs until Oct. 22. Kinda cramps my use of the camera for the next 2-x weeks, but at least Canon is taking action to preserve their consumer base.
