Keepin' it real fake, part LXXXIV: V-MODA ripoffs for your KIRF-pod
Just as V-MODA's Vibe Duo earbuds got revamped with a new iPhone-friendly music controller, an unnamed set of copycats have surfaced on the web. This painfully bad ripoff manages to ditch the newly acquired music control and it opts for a lovely gold / black color scheme -- you know, so folks are absolutely certain you're rockin' the fakes. Notably, they're said to provide "massive bass" and fit in a "wide range of ears," and while we can't imagine the sound quality being up to snuff, this $3.99 set looks to be the perfect compliment to whatever knockoff DAP you'd surely pair them with.

Yes because we all know that Chinese sweat shops can't make anything good.
Just ask Apple.
Oh, really? Go back home and check all the things you own that are made in Chinese sweat shops(by the way, many of the sweat shops in China are OWNED by US companies such as NIKE and MOTOROLA) to see if there is anything good coming out of China.

Go educate yourself.
the fact that u can read dictionary does not mean that u have good humor. Humor is not something that can be educated. Sorry, pal.
A sense of humour is obviously something you seriously lack. My 'sarcastic' comment was about the fact that most western goods are now made in China from electronics to toys. It was also a dig at the fact the latest ipods have all had bugs.
Funny thing is all the people that voted for my above comment obviously got it but I guess they don't have a sense of humour neither.
All hail the mighty Ilren, the only person in the world with a sense of righteousness and humour.
V-Moda got their Vibes design from an OEM company, OVC. It wouldn't surprise me if these headphones and the Duo's were also designed by OVC.
SHWEEEEEEETTT!!!!!!!!!! I tiped them on this one.
No you didn't!
I did!
Both buds are marked for the right ear? weird!
That's got to be uncomfortable. But really, at $3.99, I wouldn't mind trying a pair out. I'm not saying they'd sound as good, but I bet they sound good enough. Really, these high priced earphones have gotten a little out of control. I have some sure E3c's and they sound good, but I question my sanity in spending $$$ on them. I'm all for somebody releasing comfortable earphones at a decent price. Bring it on...
I think they look different enough from the Vibe Duo so that they are clearly not rip offs.
Although, I don't deny that they are cheap and probably are of bad quality.
I suppose this article was to fulfill the quota for holier-than-thou news. Engadget, your source for judgemental, uninformed opinions on gadgets you're not interested in. Keep that prestige coming...
I guess since we're supposed to turn our noses up to anything non-Apple, that should apply to Apple cling-ons as well. V-Moda, cool because they are like Apple.
I don't know. Everyone turns their nose up at the Apple headphones, and rightly so. Anyway, I'm not sure if crappy rip offs of trendy headphones are big news but I'm not losing sleep over it.
I'm not all that impressed with the V-Modas for the price either so maybe that's why I'm not feeling the Righteous Outrage.
I know it has (almost) nothing to do with this, but the new Zune premium earbuds are really nice!
The title 'Keepin' it real fake' is starting to get annoying. There is nothing fake. It is not a SCAM, it is just a copy. Who didn't do that!! Nokia is doing that, Microsoft is doing that....
Only for those with TWO RIGHT EARS!
Anyone else notice that they both are labelled (R)
You could just get better crappy ear buds, for the same price. Why buy these?
all right to every one who talks without trying shut up i bought these after reading this article i tought i'll give it a try is not expensive the sound quality is better than i ever heard i'm quite sure its a match for v-moda ones i didn't get real v-moda but the sound and sound isolation on these speakers are no way as bad as you all seam to think its great and if you think a little it is so easy to break headphones even costy ones wtf would you spend 80 $ on a pare of speakers that could break in the month all right thats my point thinking to put so mutch money in to headphones creep me out just walk on them and feel you just ripped a 100 $ bill
