Razor recalls E300 electric scooters due to faulty handlebars
If you ditched your Segway and snapped up an E300 electric scooter due to the former's reverse-minded tendencies, it looks like trouble just follows you around. Turns out, Razor USA has found that "a weld can break [on its E300] causing the handlebar to detach," which consequently can cause "the rider to lose control and fall from the scooter." Notably, the outfit has received 25 reports of welds breaking along with three reports of "minor injuries." Yeah, it's hard not to chuckle at the images that sentence conjures up in the imagination, but if you're one of the lucky souls who've yet to meet the pavement after your E300's handlebar detaches, we'd suggest you phone up Razor on the double and request a free repair kit.

Can anyone find a video of this happening?
I have a strong feeling that a video of this happening could be quite gory. Handlebar snaps off leaving a sharp metal tube sticking up in front of you. Think about it :X
I got a feeling someone is gonna blame China for this.
China does deserve blame for this if they produced it. Not only them, but the designers - unless the malfunction was an assembly error rather than a design flaw.
Amaizing how America's coorperations look for the cheap way out to get products made and then turn around to find out that "making it cheaper" involved using lead paint or other toxic materials such as those found in Chinese pharmeceuticals.
LIVE BY THE SWORD - DIE BY THE SWORD.
all we are doing is putting more and more money into China and the Middle East's pockets so they can turn around and buy out American coorperations. Take a look at how far the US dollar has fallen and the fact America is no longer the world's pre-imminent source of capital finances.
The sad thing is, its the mega coorporations with their multi million dollar a year salaried Executives screwing America over so they can get money in their pockets now.
Yeah, how dare companies attempt to make money! I too, am outraged!
Companies will always look for a way to maximize profit while minimizing cost. Do you truly believe that no product made in America has ever been recalled?
LOL I knew someone would blame China! DickHard probably got dicked hard by Firestone tires manufactured in the U.S., which can probably somehow be traced back to China. I dont know why people are bitching, it's the dumb politicians they put in place because they are too stupid to vote for the most qualified candidates. So what if China becomes the number 1 economic power in the world, are you too stupid to realized that it doesn't matter also? If you are better off and living your life, I have no idea what you really care about, just for name sakes? Then we should send soldiers in to die so we can make sure that when number economic power is mentioned, the U.S. will be in there. I'm just trying to find answers to obvious stupidity that is so rampant in America. At the heart of it, it's probably on the internet where people aren't afraid to post their true feelings.
Having actually had that happen to me (somewhat my fault ... I rode it off a curb), I can assure you that it's not fun. My kids, however, thought it was hilarious.
OWNED
No they won't. Razor surely specified crappy welds in the specifications...
lol
Whoa, whoa, hold up...
A repair kit!?
What a kind gesture. The consumer gets to do the repairs on Razor's shoddy workmanship? Such benevolence and generosity! I hope the sound of everyone gasping in asonishment and saying thanks doesn't cause to much of an uproar.
Coincidentally, I was researching electric scooters just yesterday. I want one for scooting to and from my bus stop at both ends of my commute, so relatively short usages (5-10 minutes tops each leg). And maybe tooling around the campus I work on occasionally.
Anyone have recommendations? I want *cheap* (ie Razor E200 class) as anything more than a hundred or two dollars will be hard to justify for me. I'm concerned about weight (I have to lug it on the bus and so forth) as well as battery life as I plan to use it daily, and I've heard a lot of complaints about battery longevity.
i personally feel anyone who rides a razor scooter deserves this to happen to them, unless an innocent child, and then it just becomes hilarious.
l2 scooter w/o handlebars noobs!
Damn, how will I get to work now?
It turns out the "repair kit" is nothing more than a loudspeaker that plays The Benny Hill Theme over and over so that when the handlebars do detach it becomes hilarious instead of tragic.
har
Too late I already ran over a few innocent squirrels...
I worked at Razor USA customer service for a short time, During which they had many many reports of scooters breaking causing injuries.... all their crap is made in China...they wouldnt be able to stay in business if they made it here... Stay away from all motorized razor crap
