Although we were previously led to believe that Samsung's YP-P2 and YP-T10 Bluetooth players would be landing in the US
last month, the ship date seems to have slipped just a bit. A revised release from Sammy (shown after the break) now shows both units being available here in America sometime in October, and more importantly, prices were also divulged. As for the
P2, it'll be available in black, wine red or white hues for $199 (4GB) and $249 (8GB), while the
T10 will ship in midnight black, mystic purple, maple red, white cloud and lime yellow for $149 (4GB) and $199 (8GB). Hold tight, the duo should (finally) be landing anytime.

Looks like a nice little machine. It seems there are a lot of contenders in the PMP race now. While it's probable none of them will unseat the iPod, there are plenty of choices for those of us who DON'T want an ipod.

Nice screen rez on the P2 but I must say the new Zunes are the fairest of them all;

You have to be kidding me. The YP-P2 is $249?
The Samsung guys have to be out of their minds. For only 50 dollars more, you can get an iPod Touch with TWICE the memory and Wifi with a full web browser. Thats a huge upgrade considering the P2 doesn't have a multitouch screen and you STILL have to convert video for both players. Nobody is going to buy the P2 except hardcore Samsung loving, Apple haters at that price point, and in the USA thats not too common. Drop it down to $199 for the 8GB and you have a deal, Samsung. Until then, the Touch is going to eat all your profits. The new Zune players will make it even worse for Samsumg since most people who hate Apple go for either a Zune or Sandisk player which are very competitively priced.
perfectionist @ Oct 5th 2007 2:14PM
At $299, that's the 8GB touch.
Still, you're getting a full web browser.
Sam @ Oct 5th 2007 3:07PM
I don't want to surf the net on my mp3 player. I want Bluetooth so I can use wireless headphones without a dongle when I'm working out.
perfectionist @ Oct 5th 2007 9:02PM
Don't get the iPod touch, then.
Some people don't need/have/want BT headphones.
Different people, different needs.
neoufo51 @ Oct 5th 2007 1:46PM
Whoops, scratch the "twice the memory part"
But still, people are gonna pay 50 bucks more for full Wifi and web, plus the build quality is far better on the Touch.
Silentks @ Oct 5th 2007 2:51PM
well...i think (in my own opinion) the P2 is lighter/smaller while still have the 3" LCD and i heard the quality of ipod touch isn't that impressive (audio/video) and well there's the battery life but who cares about that =P
but for $150 more and you get an iphone....
Sly @ Oct 5th 2007 2:10PM
The t10 looks awesome, if not a little bit pricy. TONS of features, though the only thing I miss is expandable memory. Just as a sidenote, people often complain about touchpads and touch sensitive controls. Well I have to say, I just tried out a K3 recently (which have identical controls to the T10), and its touch sensitive controls are really nice. Very accurate and efficient. In fact, I had more success with it using it for the first time than I did with the iPod's clickwheel. Oh and for anyone iffy about the cute doggy menu, no worries, you can change it to the T9 style menu, or a modified P2 menu I think, with a custom wallpaper.
ron @ Oct 5th 2007 2:12PM
very nice!
What's everyone's opinion on wifi vs Bluetooth 2.0 integration? Which is better? More specially, zune or samsung?
caz @ Oct 5th 2007 2:29PM
Bluetooth! Cut the cord!
andy @ Oct 5th 2007 2:30PM
What color is "lime yellow" anyway?
I know "lime green" and "lemon yellow".
Personally, I'm waiting for the "midnight white" color.
andy @ Oct 5th 2007 2:33PM
PS: I love my sammy ypf10 for the FM tuner. That's the only thing keeping me away from Apple these days is their refusal to get up to date with the 1950's.
dsnj201 @ Oct 5th 2007 2:44PM
P2 is gorgeous. Down to a touch or the P2, choices choices.
Can anyone tell me the benefits of wifi on an mp3 player. I honestly can't see what you'd use it for other than surfing the web which I do on my cell phone already.
Would appreciate it. =]

While I'm not in the market for either, I think it comes down to whether you want the ecosystem that comes with iTunes or not. If you do, then get the Touch. If you don't, get the P2.
The P2 will be more unique (less people will have one) but may be seen as an iPod touch ripoff.
js @ Oct 5th 2007 4:49PM
I don't understand, why would anyone choose this over the iPod?
Alex @ Oct 5th 2007 9:46PM
I Love the P2 because with the bluetooth, you can connect it with your phone and answer a call with the built in Mic. the music will pause and you can hear the person through your headphones! that way you wont go missing phone calls because you couldn't hear your phone ^_^
tbayrgs @ Oct 6th 2007 10:23PM
I'll second that. Stereo bluetooth is the one feature I've been waiting for on a player and being able to tie it to my BT phone is even better. Only thing holding me back is amount of memory/lack of expandable memory slot. Either add expandable memory to the these players or add stereo BT to the new Creative Zen and I'm sold. Wi-Fi would only be a benefit if I could access my Slingbox but since they don't have a compatible slingplayer for Touch/iPhone, useless feature for me.
THEnine02 @ Oct 6th 2007 9:42AM
i would choose this over the ipod touch because i don't need wifi on my mp3 player. the only wifi spot i can connect to is at home... i use my computer here so what's the point? the p2 has radio and bluetooth in it and these are features i'd use :D and it looks way better than the touch i think:D and you can plug any kind of earphones into it
arby26 @ Oct 7th 2007 3:16AM
That's really weird because I thought I saw the T10 in a Circuit City like a week ago.

I grabbed a P2 and an Ipod 8gb touch a few days ago. I decided I'd bring the other one back thanks to the generous 30day return policy Best Buy has. I took back the ipod touch the next day!
Battery life on the Touch is terrible, it's bulkier, uglier, and even though the interface is nice and the wifi is kinda cool... the P2 is better value in my eyes.
I don't NEED wifi. I got my laptop with me 90% of the time (gotta love macbook) when I wanna view the net, the other 90% of the time I use the wifi on my Blackberry. So big deal there.
But the Bluetooth integration is super sweet...
For too long I have been listening to sub-par bluetooth music on my Nokia phone when jogging, working out, or wondering the mall. Now that I got this player it dosn't leave my pocket!
I get in the car, it syncs to my bluetooth enabled deck and delivers crystal clear sound that I didn't think was possible with bluetooth. I go home, synch it to my home stereo via bluetooth and listen there. Link my Sony bluetooth headset to the P2 and my Nokia at the same time while walking the malls and now I can listen to great music, and still answer my calls.
I DONT HAVE TO USE ITUNES!!! I love my mac, but I HATE iTunes. It's slow, and annoying. With the P2 you don't even have to use the software it comes with, just drag and drop baby!
The volume is a little quiet... which is the only thing I don't like about it so far.
But the build quality, the look, the sound coming from the preamp, and even the video quality (which I don't use often) topples the ipod Touch. The bluetooth sound quality is even better than I could imagine...I can't get over it. And lets not forget about the amazing battery life (accidently left it in play mode for a day and the battery only drained halfway.
I just can't stress enough how much that $50 less price tag delivers a much better product. Yes, I love apple, I got two generations of Video, one nano, a mini, and a G3 I pod. I got a Macbook, a Mac Mini, and an older Imac. I even installed OSX on my Dell laptop becaue I hate Windows so much, but I think Samsung just built the ipod killer.
If you need to have a gimick like a wifi browser so you can get your crackbook fix, get the ipod touch, if you want something more useful, and better looking get the Samsung. case closed.

I've played around with the p2 enough at Best Buy, enough to form an opinion, and it's not quite ready yet for me. This is what I need from the p2 or any other touch based PMP
1. Non-propritary USB cable. I've pretty well given up on having a PMP with a built in USB dongle, but a standard cable would be nice so that I don't have to carry a company cable around would be nice. In fact, I wish the whole usb world ran on the same standard cable.
2. Need the touch based screen to work with gloved fingers. I ride a motorcycle and it would be nice to make quick changes in tracks and such on the fly. The only work around I've found so far is to lick the tip of my finger and swipe (eww)
3. Easily replaceable battery.
4. The option to stay permanently in landscape or portrait mode ala ipod touch. That way I can mount it on my car dash and not have to twist the display around all the time.

The ipod is way overrated AND overpriced.. Its insane.. I jz love the Samsung T10,cant wait to get one.. Iv watched videos and read reviews n all indicate that the T10 is much better than the new ipod nano.. Plus it looks nicer too(in my opinion)..
Oh and btw there is going to be a separate add-on for the Samsung P2 that gives it WiFi capabilities, expansion slot etc.. But u hv to buy it separately.. :(
Still,i think both r GREAT products.. N so is the Samsung s5..

I had my t10 for 2 month. I am living in Korea and its strange that they do not sell this model in any color except black. I eventually found a white one and was surprise how good the screen is (wallpaper and menu style can be changed, you are no stuck with Sammy the dog. The sound is really good as well. I also have the bluetooth Jabra bt320s which i brought from Japan which i do not recommend if you are thinking of getting a bluetooth device. Setting up bluetooth is to easy. The device has froze once and the t10 has a reset hole so there was no problem there. And you can also drop the mp3 in the folder using "my computer" instead of the samsung program. I also have the ipod video 60 gig and the new nano. And getting the new Zune next week. i am obsessed with technology. I am a negative person when it comes with stupid devices and give stuff away. But i am really happy with the t10. Its funny that it has not been promoted well in Korea. Its also 40 dollars more expensive in Korea than in Australia. The t9 is still the popular choice for now. Negative part is the video conversion like the ipod but there is no escaping it.
