ColorWare adds Apple's latest offerings to its lineup
Not that it comes as much of a surprise (or any, really), but ColorWare has now brought all of Apple's latest offerings under its brightly-colored fold, with the new iMac, iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod classic each available in "nearly 30 different colors." That, of course, means 29 colors, including such eye-catching options as blush pink, caution yellow, candy apple red, and crush orange, all of which can also be mixed and matched if you choose. As with ColorWare's other offerings, you can either purchase your colorized product of choice directly from ColorWare (for a premium price, of course) or send in your existing gear for a bit of sprucing up, which also doesn't exactly come cheap.

Even buying a customized iPod Touch from that site works out cheaper than buying a plain one from the UK. :(

skittles called, they want their ipods back.
Big John @ Oct 8th 2007 3:27PM
Since the internet has already rendered a verdict, it seems, I'll go ahead and go against the flow to create a backlash of people who know they're JUST RIGHT and that I couldn't be more insane or wrong.
I want a new 24" iMac done in black. Why? The aluminum followed by the black band before the monitor is ugly as sin. It stands out among every other item (technical or not) that I own and looks awful. Can't wait to get a real black iMac.
Carlos @ Oct 8th 2007 6:14PM
Yeah same here - black on black iMac looks amazing.
Also think that an all white iPhone would look cool - sort of like a retro iPod.
Michael @ Oct 8th 2007 3:35PM
Isn't this a free country? I don't think I'd want to shell out $66 for a color-customized iPod nano, but so what if someone else wants to?
Personalization in general is a fast-growing market segment and if ColorWare can capitalize on that market, more power to them.

Colorware is such a blatant rip-off, its sickening! How they continue to overcharge for their "professional" paint jobs is ridiculous.
I wanted to get my iPhone all white with a black apple logo. Simple right? For just that, they charge $179.00!!! That's like saying, half the iPhone's price was for the color on the case! How friggin' insane is that?
Man, people just blow money like its nothing these days...by the way, anyone got a spare $200? I'd like to get my phone colored while I'm still young...
Edward Townend @ Oct 8th 2007 4:45PM
I guess they just haven't adjusted their prices since Apple's $200 drops?
Ireland @ Oct 8th 2007 4:46PM
The black one is the nicest my opinion (iPod touch), but if I got one I wouldn't let them paint my antenna - I want the best signal I can get.
rTwelve @ Oct 8th 2007 5:47PM
Yeah, the all-black looks nice. Then for kicks I made it all white, realized it looked exactly like the back of a Vision:M, and left the website.
ZombieInvasion @ Oct 8th 2007 5:03PM
@ Edward Townend:
Can't be, because they factored it in the buy new price...Pricing starts at $549.99. Which would be the $399 plus $149 pant job.
They know...They're just ripping people off because people will spend insane amounts of money to "express themselves."
I almost bought my phone new from there, but then realized that $200 I'd spend on the color would negate the money saved on the price drop, thus making me very foolish...Just couldn't do it.
Maybe when the iPhone 2 comes out...
XeroCint @ Oct 8th 2007 5:13PM
Really nice slogan,IMO
starwxrwx @ Oct 9th 2007 12:57AM
The Colorware'd nanos are only $20 more expensive than buying standard retail here in Australia, but its the $130 USD shipping (!!!!) that ruins the deal :(
Marty @ Oct 9th 2007 9:03AM
Are you people actually going to the Colorware site and looking at their options (and products... they do have more than just iPods... anyone looking for a Ferrari red Xbox 360?), or are you looking at the pretty pic above and make a judgement?
Yes, having something custom-painted is an unnecessary indulgence, but why does that make YOU all so angry? So go to Best Buy and buy the plain white one! Who gives a crap?
And if Colorware's prices are steep, then at least let the rest of us know the alternatives instead of just bitching about the price. And if you're going to refer to some DIY crap, not everyone is good at ripping apart their electronics for the sake of modding them. Some people SHOULD pay someone else to do it.
Personally, I don't care, but I don't see what all the hate is gotta be about.
