Altec Lansing intros inMotion iM414 Zune speaker system
Altec Lansing was among the first to offer a speaker dock for the original Zune, and it now looks set to accommodate the latest batch as well, with the company apparently nearly a release for its "Designed for Zune" inMotion iM414 speaker system. While we're a bit skeptical of Altec Lansing's claims of "immersive, crystal-clear sound," the system does look to be fairly decent as far as these things go, with it boasting some 3.2-watt speakers with 2-inch neodymium drivers, a built-in FM radio, a remote, and a spare input jack for your other audio gear. It'll also, of course, charge your Zune while it plays, and it'll even hold some batteries if you want to tote it along with you. As they've shown in the past, Altec Lansing hasn't forgotten about SanDisk users either, with the nearly identical inMotion iM413 model for Sansa players also said to be "coming soon," for the same $100 price as the Zune version.

And if it has an alarm clock with a user-customizable Sleep function, I'm all over it.
Paul @ Oct 9th 2007 6:07PM
Wow, I think that's seriously, the ugliest PS job I've ever seen.
Ricardo @ Oct 9th 2007 4:57PM

Ricardo @ Oct 9th 2007 5:18PM
Zune 30...baby....
getting a better firmware in mid-November.
Bob @ Oct 9th 2007 4:57PM
Probably just a mockup, but that Zune seems to be missing the two buttons.
luidabruin @ Oct 9th 2007 5:00PM
that looks like an old zune
Bob @ Oct 9th 2007 5:14PM
Yes, it IS the old Zune. The old Zune still had 2 buttons.
What's your point?
LiQuiD_FuSioN @ Oct 9th 2007 5:54PM
Maybe it's just due to copyright or something? *shrugs*
I know I saw an ad in a gaming magazine with that showed a white xbox 360 controller, but the middle home-button was missing.
bob e @ Oct 9th 2007 5:38PM
Why does she need the built-in FM radio when the Zune already has this covered? I am not sure about the SanDisk but I think they have them too?
coming soon http://www.zunesocial.us
Agreed #1: if it has alarm clock with a user-customizable Sleep function, I'm all over it.

Does the Zune have a "wake up" and "sleep" modes? If yes does this machine works with the zune wake up? I'm asking this becouse I had read that simmilar products like this one does not work with the Ipod "wake up".
Ps. MS! I'M PROTESTING HERE! YOU SHOLD HAVE DONE A 160GB Zune! I need one to replace my Old 60gb Ipod.
Paul @ Oct 9th 2007 6:20PM
...so the 80gb isn't enough to replace your 60gb...rriigghhtt....
Herman @ Oct 15th 2007 3:19PM
Please, will I be able to navigate my Zune's music library just by watching that big LCD screen????
Say yes!
Billy Gun @ Oct 9th 2007 6:33PM
Paul, I have today 154gb of music, To make them fit on my Ipod I reencode the songs to ACC 64kbps, But It makes my Ipod be sooo lazy... Sure I can reencode the songs to 64kbps WMA to make them fit on the zune (since part of my songs are in wma lossless and 320kbps), but I'm afraid I buy a hardware that's not prepered for so many songs like my old Ipod. I love the media center like interface of the zune, I also love the large album art playback... But I miss a 160gb drive, so I can add my songs (reencoding them) and some videos...
steve @ Oct 9th 2007 8:58PM
Why not just pick your favorite half and just keep that on your pmp? You cant listen to that much music at a time anyway, so it seems like a reasonable plan to me. Sure, everybody likes to have their entire collection at hand, but 160 gb is just ridiculous.
Billy Gun @ Oct 9th 2007 10:42PM
steve, yes I can do that, but I like the fact all the songs are there any time, I do not have to wory about what I want to listen to.. Be sure i'm not the only one that needs a 160gb one... be sure in a cople of years from now you will look and find out that 160gb for a media player is not that huge. I always remember a fried saying (5 years ago) that a 1gb mp3 player was so huge that no one needs that much..

billy, you must be the easiest customer to please, my god 154gigs? wtf thats tons. i am VERY picky, i only have like 10gigs of music. not even. i agree with you, having it all in 1 player is great because you can skip around to find what you like.
thing between me and you is, i like more mainsteam music. like if it typically does not show up as a top 50 i dont gerenally give it a chance.(thats usually) i just cant stand music that doesnt catch my ears. now yes some music people make is okay, but its like i could have better songs so, no thanks.
anyway, hope you find a good solution.
Billy Gun @ Oct 10th 2007 7:52AM
jessy, I know I'm exagerated, but there is an explanation for that, 1. I'm 32 years old and I have my favorite songs, albums since I was a kid; 2. I lived in 11 differnt citys, 3 diferent countrys (Canada, USA and Brazil) so.. many diferent concepts of music I love 3. From the artists I love I have their entire album colection.
Thank you for the help.
Charles @ Oct 10th 2007 2:41AM
Huh.. glancing at that, definitely thought they were playing porno on it...
jessy @ Oct 10th 2007 3:04AM
clock? with customizeable alarm clock settings?
wow, seriously. the best music player is complete now.
