Panoram intros 24-inch PSP 2400 stereoscopic HD LCD
Panoram's 24-inch PSP 2400 certainly isn't the first 3D LCD / monitor we've seen, but the firm is pretty proud of it nonetheless. The 24-inch device boasts a 1,920 x 1,200 native resolution, touts DVI / VGA inputs and can be switched between 3D and standard modes. Additionally, this screen doesn't require that users "move their head to find the sweet spot," and according to the outfit, you can even let another kiddo watch right alongside of you (provided they bring their own eyewear, of course). Granted, acquiring the luxury of 3D on your desktop monitor definitely demands a premium, so don't be too shocked at the $4,995 pricetag, okay?

but this seems like a mere novelty if you don't have an OS yet that actually supports true benefits of 3D computing. I mean, can I play Halo with this thing?

of course...in 2D.

Nvidia has had stereoscopic drivers for years. Presumably they would work with this, whether CAD or games.

This isn't consumer equipment anyways, this is for CAD design and specialty applications for industrial and commercial companies. There are some applications that can utilize this kind of technology out there already and have been for some time. I'm still waiting for the high-def Johnny Mnemonic style internet and workspace...without the 90s graphics and the dolphin.

I saw something like this made by some company at DigitalLife that worked with all DirectX Games.

So I'm guessing this'll be just like a smaller IMAX screen then?
