Myvu universal edition video headset gets promiscuous
Look away sheeple, myvu has chucked aside the iPod exclusivity and any hopes of capitalization with their new universal edition eyewear. Available this month for $199, the universal brings the myvu simulated big-screen viewing effect to Archos, Creative Zen, and Zune players specifically in addition to the generic media player, camcorder, and cellphone of your choice. At least within the limits of the included connectivity kit which covers "most" portable media players according to myvu. Yeah, all iPods supporting video will also be supported. Come now, you didn't think they'd stray too far from the money-teat did you?

this, a pocketable umpc and some way of doing input, and one can do computing any time, anywhere.

I dn't think you need video goggles to compute anwhere-anytime. Will this plug into my N95? Of course it will even if I have to tear the end of the lead with my bare teeth and solder on the correct plucket.
I'm so going to boot up Tomtom and walk around following the arrow..hang on I've got an old pair of Olympus Eye-whatevers in the cupboard, project for tonight.

seriously, unless those things fire lasers...

Shouldn't that be "money-tit"?

Ok, it looks like cool tech, but at the end of the day, doesn't this thing just scream "Mug me!"? I think you'd need the laser upgrade Adam suggested just to be safe walking the streets with these.

The Scaler T4-N glasses mentioned the other day (http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/05/scaler-intros-teleglass-t4-n-video-glasses/) would be FAR more appropriate for mobile computing, what with quarduple the resolution and all...
Also, as for input: bluetooth Frogpad perhaps?

If they can reduce the latency enough I would like to see a camera mounted to these so I can actually walk around while wearing these. Then have "live" information accessible as I look at things. Now that would be killer cool. ALSO imagine a "live action" FPS where you could actually walk around an imaginary maze and "shoot" other players laser tag style. You could even be represented by a game character avatar etc.. the potential is pretty cool if they can harness enough horsepower affordably.
