Sprint announces BlackBerry Pearl 8130 for November release
Following a similar announcement from Verizon a couple weeks back, Sprint has announced that it'll also be carrying RIM's latest and greatest CDMA Pearl, the 8130. High on the touted feature list is the integrated GPS, which Sprint is teaming with its Sprint Navigation service to provide real-time routing and traffic alerts -- but we certainly can't forget the 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo Bluetooth support, 2 megapixel camera, and externally accessible microSDHC slot, all of which make the device a worthy successor for anyone that got a kick out of the original GSM Pearl. Look for it in stores next month, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.

Keep your sarcasm on the GSM side! Unless they make a CDMA compatible version, not likely.

oh, that's an interesting idea. how's that work with EDGE?

I don't think AT&T/Cingular has announced the GSM version of this phone yet either though. Both AT&T and T-Mobile are still selling the 8100. It sounds like AT&T will get the new Pearl with GPS, but T-Mobile will get the version with Wi-Fi (8120) that just launched in Spain, and it will work with Hotspot @ Home.

OH WOW! That is absolutely, positively, superlatively, fantastically, mediocre. It's BlackBerry deja vu all over again.
Just kidding. It has nice specs and that's all that matters.

I'm pumped for the Pearl release on Verizon, finally a phone worth sticking around for. Although I really hope VZW gets it in that cool dark color. I don't think I've seen shots of the VZW version in anything but that tacky looking silver, and here's Sprint's version looking all sleek and sexy.
Oh Verizon, can't you get anything right??

Any guesses about what kind of price Sprint is going to put on the 8130??
mc3 @ Dec 5th 2007 6:49PM
the 8130 is certainly small its about the same size as a RUMOR lx260. I like the quickness of its key response but the screen is not as bright as the 176x220 fusic. the camera is really nice 2mb, but with 64mb ram, I was expecting a video editor for trimming beg. and end of my home made stored on the chip. It ploys quickly through my 955 files on the chip. thats great.
