Apparently, the gold DS Lite you see tucked away in the lower-left hand corner of the picture above could soon be coming to retail stores, which to be honest, wouldn't shock us considering the smorgasbord of
colors already
out there. Reportedly, the photograph was snapped at the Nintendo World Store as
Phantom Hourglass launched, and to make things even more interesting, a certain individual has also claimed that his company has received orders from the Big N to design graphics for a "BOX, SYST GOLD W/ZELDA: HOUR USG." Even if legitimate, it remains to be seen if the elusive new portable will simply be a limited run for contests or if it'll hit shelves en masse, but it's hard to argue how well a gilded
Zelda DS Lite bundle would sell this holiday season.

The DS lite is clearly pictured in the LOWER LEFT corner of the photograph. The case is in the LOWER RIGHT.

I *knew* there was a reason I was holding off on buying Phantom Hourglass. My Phat DS doesn't play nicely with Jam Sessions (damn clicky D-pad), and I want a Lite more than ever.
If they release this one to us in the US, I just might forgo GH3 for this lil thing...

King Midas loves the DS, you should too!

Yep...I took a picture of the same thing during the Phantom Hourglass release party-thing. At a minimum I would expect them to be sold exclusively at the Nintendo World Store. They did that with a golden, triforce laden Gameboy Advance SP.

I don't own a DS, and I'm not really a fan of portable gaming, but if they put out this gilded Zelda DS in the US (maybe bundled with Phantom Hourglass?) I would buy it in an instant.

It looks like a selection of schwag typically awarded for filling out comment cards that are blown into Japanese magazines.
Could be wrong. It just seems too random to be a bundle.

I'm in. Where do I purchase?

Its a contest exclusive DS - the contest was recently held through text message to nintendo in which the prize was stated to be a trip to nyc for the zelda launch party, a copy of phantom hourglass, and a ds lite, of which i am assuming is that one there.... though i could hope for a retail copy.....
and to prove im not making stuff up, heres some text lifted from www.dsfanboy.com and a link to it
"There are two ways to enter: either you can text message (via one of those new-fangled cellular telephones) the word "Zelda" to 20769, or you can head on over to Zelda.com and enter by snail mail (all of the details regarding this can be found over there). The grand prize winner not only gets flown out to New York city to stay at a hotel for two nights, but also gets a closed-door shopping spree at the Nintendo World Store for up to $1,000, $500 in walk-around money, a special-edition DS and a copy of Phantom Hourglass."

most (everything but the shield in the middle) of the merch in that display was done by the company i work for, bioworld merchandising...i designed the wallet. most of these were originally available at hot topic, but you should be able to find them through a quick web search. and when you get your belt, say "thank you jesse!"
