Keepin' it real fake, part LXXXVIII: Zen Vision:M goes metallic
We're not certain who out there is looking to recapture the glory of the Zen Vision:M, but just in case you peaked in 2005, this little Chinese player might look awfully familiar. Apart from the goofy metal case and miniscule 2GB storage, it's a near perfect copy of the Vision:M, although something tells us the interface won't be quite as polished. You're looking at a 1.8-inch screen, MP3, WMA, WAV and goofy SMV video support, a voice recorder, and FM radio -- basically, every Chinese "MP4" player ever. Now if only they'd KIRF the Rio Karma, we'd be in heaven.

Does it play Doom?
Fox318 @ Oct 11th 2007 11:21PM
Doom...
I'd be surprised if that thing could play Breakout.
mushrooshi @ Oct 11th 2007 10:19PM
Tell me why all of them say "Digital MP3/Mp4 Player". To be honest it makes them look like crap DAPs and PMPs. Even though they are crap, they can at least make it LOOK nice?

MR. Engadet. Are you sure Zen Vision is original? Keepin' it real fake.
Dan @ Oct 11th 2007 10:48PM
Of course... I'm surprised the site actually went through three comments without somebody mentioning Apple. Here's a tomato.
rainygrass @ Oct 11th 2007 11:11PM

Sean @ Oct 11th 2007 11:51PM
You might want to do a little research before you call the Zen an iPod knockoff.
rainygrass @ Oct 12th 2007 12:13AM
come one professor, with a lcd screen on the upper side and several nasty button down there. mr.engadget will call everyting a ipod knockoff
Fruition @ Oct 11th 2007 10:46PM

Besides the previously mentioned "Digital MP4 Player" branding, I don't think this looks bad at all. It's not amazing, but at least the brushed metal buttons (reminds me of the RAZR) are somewhat unique in the DAP market. I won't be rushing out to buy one, but you could do worse (including Apple's newest nano, which inexplicably went with awful colors, added a shiny metal back to scuff up (thought we were past that) and quality control issues with the screen (I went to return my mother in law's at the store because of an awful screen tilt, only to find that every nano in the store had the same issue)). I've owned several iPods, but I'll be waiting a while for my next purchase until Apple cleans up their act.

I'm going out on a limb and dubbing this the one and only...
