Vii, meet Wii -- the wannabe gets caught in the wild
Just in case you thought this whole Vii thing was one big prank, guess again. Our pals over at Engadget Chinese managed to scrounge up one of these clones and put it toe-to-toe with its idol. Needless to say, Nintendo's unit tends to demand quite a bit more respect, but why not take a look at their gallery and see how the two really stack up.

am i the only one still wondering why this particular clone has gotten so many posts?
For real! Engadget, it's a chinese knockoff! Leave it alone already.
I know it's a slow news day with nothing particularly anti-microsoft to blog about, but damn. Let it go.
how many times does "don't read the posts if you don't like the content" need to be said? not everyone here has the same tastes. i actually find the posts about the Vii humorous.
i find it humorous too, i was just honestly wondering what made it any different than the hundreds of other imitation game systems from china.
uh, where does the game go?
They are build in DUH. Optical drives are so last gen!
imitation crabs!
Wow...... Cool? =.="
So the games aren't very good huh? I would have one sitting next to my Wii for a laugh!
So, that's it?
A picture of two white crash sit together make up a post?
Come on Engadget, let it gooooooooo already!!
In the future, consoles will be intelligent enough to trash talk to each other. Based on the names, these two will have very heavy sexy European accents.
after so many posts of the vii, I'm wondering.... Where the heck do you put the game?
Aww come on! Give the Engadget staff a great big hug *hugs* they do keep us entertained all day!
Can we have the VII contest next week...... Please Engadget.
the size of two laser disc cases put together!
Man, we still use those in our chemistry classes, they're HUGE!!
But do games look? No pictures....and seeing the cables behind (or lack thereof) there mustn't be game cube compatibilty.
But does it play doom?
idk, but im pretty sure it will blend
That depends on whether or not it has an OGL/X Linux driver for its GPU, whether it uses code signing, and whether it has an MMU.
It looks like it would have an MMU, but I say if it doesn't use code signing, and does have an OGL/X Linux driver, it's a better deal than the Wii any day.
Engadget, if you want to make this interesting, get a hold of one and try to get an Ubuntu variant running on it.
It looks vonderful!
LMFAO, I can imagine a kid inviting all his friends with a Wii over to play it too (and now he's cool too because he has one), but then his friends find out it's a Vii. Then the kid grows up to be Michael Moore.
True that
I agree! Try and get Ubuntu on it!
How many pins do the cartridges have?
negative four
I am also excited to see the new SHii.
This is the female version of the Wii, it promises to solve some of the problems faced by guys who play so many video games that they have no one to date.
So what do the games look like?
i bet you it's got better graphics than the Wii. Zing!
Well, it's not that it's so hard to do actually.
Yeah. And saying something obvious and putting 'Zing!' after it makes you looks special.
My momma said life is like a foreign piece of imitation consumer electronics... You never know what you're gonna get.
I'm googling this thing once and for all...
does Vii have cut pins as well? Damn I dont wanna solder my Viikey with wires all over the place
Pppppppppppppffffffffffftttttttttt.
Its just two NES emulators duct-taped together.
They're both fugly.
It's named to fool the German market...
