Nokia's
N95 8GB super-chunk is out for global(ish) distribution today. N95 fans can now take home the larger storage and slightly bigger 2.8-inch (240 x 320) display in addition to the HSDPA, WiFi, A-GPS, and 5 megapixel camera already found in Nokia's existing flagship "multimedia computer." To celebrate the launch, Nokia is pre-loading Spider-Man 3 for Europe and select Middle Eastern and Africa countries. The tie-in? Wait for it... "The Movie sees Spider-Man's suit turn jet-black and enhance his powers and, in its latest incarnation, the Nokia N95 has undergone a similar transformation to emerge as the Nokia N95 8GB." Riiight. Hitting retail today for €560 (about $794) pre-tax and pre-carrier subsidy.

The upgrade also turns the N95 into a bad tempered emo kid.
Macroy @ Oct 15th 2007 5:26AM
Don't you mean "emo Ron Burgundy"?
Alein18 @ Oct 15th 2007 4:37AM
I want one, I want one, I want one! LOL
Gotta wait until March 08 til I'm out of my current contract though!!
Paul @ Oct 15th 2007 4:36AM
If this cost a little less, I would jump on it
Tonicboy @ Oct 15th 2007 10:29AM
And you WOULD be able to jump on it, this thing is so big. Seriously, specs cannot describe how ginormous this phone is. It makes a Treo look like a Razr.
Chrisphillers @ Oct 15th 2007 1:25PM
Tonic boy you have no clue! Its the same dimensions pretty much as the k750i - its smaller than a treo, blackberry, E61 etc - why bother making unfounded comments??
vanboy @ Oct 15th 2007 4:10PM
@Tonicboy
If you don't know anything then don't say it. You are just making yourself look stupid. N95 is very small with that type of spec.
It is one device that you can "almost" have everything for a cell phone.
Tonicboy @ Oct 16th 2007 1:15PM
I've played with one in person and let me assure you, this is one giant BEAST. One of the largest cell phones I have ever used in my life. Compares well to the old early 90's Motorolas.
Liam Billington @ Oct 15th 2007 4:38AM
If it had Windows Mobile I would buy it. However Symbian keeps me distant.
But hey wait a minute I thought that Sony would be pimping Spiderman 3 on its own range of phones! What next Nokia? Nokia is going to use the Spiderman font to brand it's handsets?
andi @ Oct 15th 2007 4:52AM
? why would symbian keep you distant?..
Rik @ Oct 15th 2007 5:53AM
My thoughts are exactly the opposite, I would consider many HTC/etc. phones if they had Symbian...
Ricardo @ Oct 15th 2007 6:22AM
Symbian is not a problem for me. I've had a Symbian phone and it's very very good.
What really bothers me on the N95 is the lack of touch-screen. So for me buying it would be a step backwards.
Justin @ Oct 15th 2007 4:41AM
And just like the black suit, after you get the N95, you'll want to throw it away too!
ZING!
Adeel @ Oct 15th 2007 4:58AM
Arn't black suits more useful than white suits.
burned.
Eric @ Oct 15th 2007 4:57AM
I see the 8GB listed for 580$ online.
L.Rawlins @ Oct 15th 2007 5:30AM
I'm torn... this release will push the cost of the original sim-free N95 down, which, unlike this new rendition can accept memory cards... theoretically pushing it's storage capacity beyond that of this newer model in the future.
However, after reading around on the N95 8GB the additions and refinements to this device go far beyond it's new branding and paintjob.
Decisions, decisions...
Rik @ Oct 15th 2007 5:55AM
Indeed, original N95 has a 950mAh battery, this one has a 1200mAh battery... and the battery on the original is a known weak point.
But if it makes the N95 price drop i'll consider the original yes :-D
L.Rawlins @ Oct 15th 2007 6:23AM
Updates: Battery, camera housing, navi-pad, number pad, entertainment controls, screen and software additions/refinements. I believe it also has more dedicated onboard RAM for phone operations.
All in all, it's everything we had hoped the first N95 would be: quick, capable and capacious (in both battery life and storage.)
Fingers crossed!
3rdsun @ Oct 15th 2007 5:42AM
Why no Spiderman 3 for US. Is not it a US movie, dont they know we in US like Spiderman too.
Stuart Colville @ Oct 15th 2007 5:56AM
So will you actually be able to watch the entire movie before the battery runs out?
Pdexter @ Oct 15th 2007 7:36AM
Couldnt care less if it comes with Spiderman 3 just give it to me already.
Giu @ Oct 15th 2007 8:30AM
So... it's black 'cause it comes with an evil simbiote... explains a lot.
Mr. Crash @ Oct 15th 2007 9:58AM
I believe the term is "evil symbian" in the case of the n95... Not evil symbiote ;-) and the last generation had it too...
willyboy @ Oct 15th 2007 10:02AM
Dang! That thing is phat!
bachviet @ Oct 15th 2007 11:11AM
6GB microSDHC card is available now and it works with all Nokia S60v3 FP1 (OS 9.2).
Remember your card has to be 4GB SDHC not just regular 4GB SD card.
Jim @ Oct 15th 2007 10:51AM
I bought the N95-3 recently(the -3 is the US version with HSDPA). The phone won't work with memory cards greater than 2 GB, so don't think the older versions can have an 8GB capacity.
To the other end, this new 8GB version does not have HSDPA capabilities in the US.
I think the phone is great. The camera is amazing for a phone, but the pictures are not nearly as good as a standalone 5MP camera.
Pdexter @ Oct 15th 2007 10:55AM
Nope i got 4GB card in my N95. Thought dunno about greateer than that.
Rik @ Oct 15th 2007 11:00AM
Time for a new firmware?
Pdexter @ Oct 15th 2007 11:01AM
Actually this started to intrest me too as i'm needing more space to my device. It seems it can take 6GB cards too.

King Crowley @ Oct 31st 2007 2:32PM
I had the N95-1 and it definitely supported a 4gb card, since I had one myself, and I know for a fact that a 6gb card is available and works because my friend uses one. I'm sure soon enough, an 8gb card will be standard. Anyways, I got the new 8gb model this past Thursday and it flies compared to the old version. My main concern was the lack of a lens shutter for the camera, however, there is thick glass protecting the lens. For some reason though, mine didn't ship with Spiderman 3... I'm not complaining because that movie blows, but I was curious to see what size file it would come as. Another thing that is sweet is the n-gage application... it hasn't launched yet, but there are two demos and the graphics are insane. This phone OWNS.
King Crowley @ Oct 31st 2007 4:04PM
and now that I looked around, I found an 8gb card that is now available and compatible with the N95:

nih @ Oct 15th 2007 11:02AM
How much cheaper is it with Spiderman 3 on it? I mean, someone might accidentally watch that piece of crap.
Chrisphillers @ Oct 15th 2007 1:28PM
It says in the instructions that it wont support about 2gb, but it does. I have 4gb in mine, the 6gb works and I heard the 8gb will work also.
Joonas @ Oct 15th 2007 4:19PM
I'm definitely buying this, but i just think it's stupid to include a third film in a series when probably most haven't seen the 2 previous ones.
If they would've included them too then all good, but Transformers would've been the best choice!
Eric @ Oct 15th 2007 9:05PM
Dang, I so want one of these things instead of my iPhone.
david @ Oct 17th 2007 11:29AM
What carrier is going to carry this in the US?
catrina @ Oct 21st 2007 9:24PM
DEALER OF ALL KIND OF ELECTRONICE LIKE NKOIA IPODS IPHONES ETC
Andrew @ Nov 9th 2007 3:56PM
Can someone definitively tell me if there is such a thing as an N95 8GB with North American 3G, i.e. with HSDPA on 850/1900 (instead of 2100)? If there is, where can I get one?
