Hyundai shows off W-100 watch phone
Remember that mysterious CECT cellphone watch we peeked back in July? Unless our eyes (badly) deceive us, that very piece has morphed into Hyundai's W-100, the latest watchphone in town. Reportedly, this device sports a 1.3-megapixel camera, a 176 x 144 resolution touchscreen, Bluetooth, support for English / Chinese languages, an integrated MP3 player and a microSD slot for loading up your tunes. Regrettably, no pricing or release information was readily available, but feel free to click on through for a couple more looks.

Even it has a microSD slot, unlike the iphone.
thomas @ Dec 31st 2007 4:23AM
Lol, we had this watch in September... also, not made by Hyundai... they just printed their logo on it.. http://www.chinagrabber.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1402
thomas @ Dec 31st 2007 5:08AM
also, the w-100 is only dual-band... this means it will only work in the UK, europe, and not in the USA...
only the DigitalRise D187i is tri-band and will work in the USA.. Here is the Link: http://www.chinagrabber.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1404

Bryan Thornsberry @ Oct 16th 2007 1:30AM
Wow. Thats... a ton of features in such a tiny package. It even comes with a watch!
Garst @ Oct 16th 2007 2:50AM
Unlike all those other phones that only function as chronometer.
Paul @ Oct 16th 2007 1:34AM
Wow, it's amazing how far technology has advanced.

Dick Tracy called, he wants his watch back.
Srayer @ Oct 16th 2007 6:01PM
How could he call if Hyundai took his watch?
Hollywood Ron @ Oct 16th 2007 8:01PM
He borrowed Maxwell Smart's shoe phone.
Amber @ Oct 16th 2007 2:11AM
That's actually pretty cool. I wouldn't wear it, though!
SyKoTiC @ Oct 16th 2007 2:14AM
I think I'd have to wear something on the other wrist to even my balance.
Mr.DLF @ Oct 16th 2007 2:12AM
Hyundai is a korean company yet this watch/phone has English/Chinese display. Makes you think its manufactured specifically for export with an emphasis on the growing Chinese market. Too bad for local Koreans who miss out.

seanchk @ Oct 16th 2007 3:48AM
Its showing the network as PCCW which is the largest mobile phone network in Hong Kong
LordFarkward @ Oct 16th 2007 4:07AM
seanchk: PCCW is the largest fixed line network, not mobile. largest mobile network would either be smartone vodafone or CSL 1010
thomas @ Dec 31st 2007 4:25AM
No again, Hyundai did not make this watch... it is cheap enough to just screen print their logo on it.. the Korean market would be much more lucrative... same watch by DigitalRise is here... http://www.chinagrabber.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1402
karts41 @ Oct 16th 2007 2:56AM
would look sick with gloss black and brushed metal finish
L. Cyphre @ Oct 16th 2007 2:57AM
Whaat, it doesn't shoot lasers? I'm NOT impressed.
Garst @ Oct 16th 2007 2:58AM
If it still has games on it, it'll be remanincant of my Mario Brothers watch: http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Nelsonic/SMB.htm, I had when I was younger. Maybe it'll even have Mario game on it (one can hope).
Frankicatz @ Oct 16th 2007 6:17AM
Bought it yesterday.
Came with either white or black in colour.( Black is better )
Price: US$290-300
Pros
1) Fun to use, came with 2pcs battery, 1 BT headset, 1 wired headset, 1 charge and 2 USB cables(1 for phone and 1 for BT headset)
2) no fancy interface but touch screen, hand writing recon is fast.
3) WAP + triband + GPRS
4) Nice design on the BT stereo headset, average sound quality
5) standard wrist band, u can swap with metal wrist band.
6) Reasonable price with stereo BT headset
7) Smooth on Mp4 playing.
8) the main uint is attached to the wrist band, u can release it and use it as a phone without using headset.
Cons
1) Thickness 20mm but ppl like BIG watch nowaday
2) Manual's detail are not trustable. (Songs must put in \Music, no sub dir. Book said \my stuffs\My Music)
3) low quality on camera, should take it out and make the body skinny and put more ram in. Btw 128M build in.
4) No sim card no work. Still finding the flight mode which is mentioned on the manual.
So far having fun with the music playing function. no more wire or something in my pocket. Recommeded.

How's the battery life? This has been a problem with wristwatch phones up to now.
melovescotch @ Oct 16th 2007 10:42AM

Ipaq3115 @ Oct 16th 2007 11:56AM

I received the phone today. It looks good but I have a problem. There is only a Chinese manual included. I have no idea how to turn on the phone. I menaged to do it today one time (accidentally) but it shut down without me doing anything.
Frankicatz, I understand you have the manual. Can you explain me how I should turn on the phone. Just pushing the button om the left side doesn't seem to be enough.
libertycat @ Oct 25th 2007 6:07AM
there is a micro SD card slot, that you can add memory card up to 2Gb !
Anyway, included in my packages is a card of 512 Mb that is enought to start playing ;-)
also, Plane mode is in the profile menus.
Frankicatz @ Oct 25th 2007 10:48PM
Sorry for late reply , the power button is the left botton one, hold it for 5 sec and it will turn on.
Mitch @ Oct 16th 2007 10:45AM
id rock it
Frankicatz @ Oct 16th 2007 11:21AM
1) Battery life, come with 2 520mAh rechangable battery and a small battery charger, so can bring 2 battery out. so far I tried for one day, using phone for 30mins and 40mins listening with BT headset, the battery went 1/3.
2) Bought it in Hong Kong
3) 1 year factory warrenty and its just a gadget toy for kidult, so maybe switch to W200 (if any), so just for fun.
Z @ Oct 16th 2007 1:28PM
It's a Hyundai. Does it come with a ten-year warranty?
There are few other names that inspire such a lack of confidence as Hyundai... although Amway and Packard Bell would be along side it.
Nick @ Oct 16th 2007 2:57PM
Does this watch come with a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty?
Heuljunge @ Oct 17th 2007 3:07AM
It looks very very fat. I think it should be more small.

there are still no english user guide existing, only chinese.
Whith a bit of experience, this is easy to manage by yourself if you use to different phones, as Samsungs mostly.
Ask anyone arround you, someone will help you easily, and with pleasure.
this watch is really low price and seriously working well !
MPeters @ Oct 25th 2007 5:58AM
I already changed the settings in the phone. The problem is that it's not turning on just by pushing the on-button (I also tried some combinations). Also while charching I can't see that on the lcd.I 've seen it once but that was for a few minutes. If someone just can tell what's the normal way to turn it on. That way I can see if the watch is ok.
MPeters @ Oct 26th 2007 1:53PM
The device is working ok now.Tuning on is not a problem anymore and also the connection with notebook is good. I haven't changed a thing. Verry strange but most important: it's working and I love it..
