Taguchi's Supper speakers: don't call it dishware
We've certainly seen speakers that look (almost) good enough to eat, but how's about a set good enough to serve from? Enter Taguchi Craft's Supper, the dishware set that actually cranks out tunes and looks right at home on a dinner table simultaneously. Apparently, the cups / bottles have the actual drivers in them, while the serving dish acts as the base station. Regrettably, there's no sign of an expected price, but the outfit is hoping to be sending these out to wedding showers everywhere this winter. Check out another picture after the jump. Well that is in keeping with the "what is the tackiest most useless thing I can possibly get these jerks" school of wedding gift buying.

Why?

Original, yet lame. I'm so confused...

Get rid of the wires and it might make them a tad more useful!

Wireless (through A2DP Bluetooth or a proprietary RF system) and a couple of double-AAs in each piece would have cut the stupid factor in half. Still though, that's a lot of stupid.

The wires look ridiculous. And they reduce any "cleverness" that might otherwise be inherent in the product.

why isn't there one shaped like a toilet?

and i'm sure the sound quality is as good as 2 cups, a wine bottle, and a butter dish are expected to sound.

Seriously, the last time I heard tunes emanating from my decanter, I ran from the house thinking it was haunted.

Whew! For a second there I thought the folks designing it were really cool and forward looking, but the wires ruined it. If they can't see forward enough to make it wireless, they certainly aren't cool enough to design the speakers to sound right. No superior design group there. Isn't there a "Designing things for real markets 101?" Somebody ditched class.

i think the wires are there on purpose so that no one would steal them... though why anyone would steal them is beyond me.

If you took the wires out of the equation, I think this is a pretty neat little invention. Can't wait to see what else will be soon turned into a speaker... Why don't they just make the table and the chairs speakers as well for that matter.
