What iPhone apps do you want to see?

Well, now that you've all had a bit time to consider that little bombshell, we'd thought we'd give you a chance to have you say about what third party apps you'd like to see for the newly SDK-friendly iPhone (and iPod touch). Our wishlist has, of course, been growing since day one, but we'd be particularly keen to see some IM apps, push-style email, a Sling client, or even some Jam Sessions-style music creation apps, among a multitude of other possibilities. But enough about us, hit up the comments to make yourself known.

I need a iPhone limewire or iPhone acquisition.
A different web browser
I'll buy iPhone when Jobs restores lost iPod functions...
1 Enable disk use
2 Record voice memos
Add a b/t portable keyboard and I'll swoon.
ps... somebody pleeaase enable 'Calendar' to auto-push todo's to next day if they don't get checked off as done!
tap-tap revolution without having to jailbreak it. Im a little to nervous to actually do it.
I'm all up for MMS and I think a way to rotate images on the phone would be awesome.
Google Earth
First thing that the iPhone needs is copy and Paste capability. Then the capability to play flash files or see flash files on net. Safari won't show any flash images and replaces it with a ? Mark which I think sucks.
So copy paste
flash support
password manager like the samsungs or nokia's do it something like wallet to store all ur important bank accounts and pin numbers.
I'm support so we have all our IM's handy in the phone.
Lastly some added themes as a bonus so that we iPhone crazers can customize our iPhone to suit our personalities.
Please come on jobso u can do it. We know u can afterall ur the one who got us into this iPhone craze.
How about a media player that can stream Internet radio (such as di.fm and shoutcast)!!!!!! That would be revolutionary. I would pay for that feature.
Cut copy paste
To do list
MS Office integration
Sending contacts/files/... by bluetooth
video recording
native games
save as ... for documents received by mail
using iphone as a hard disk
slingplayer
Categories or Groups for the contacts app.
Camcorder software
an aol messenger service. The ability to play flash videos for crying out loud.
It's ironic that apple still hasn't figured out that doing it alone doesnt get u any where. I hate that for all the smart people apple employs they make some really stupid decisions.
- DVR (use iPod to 'capture' video).
- Two-way file transfer
- Nice ToDo list or Daytimer-style 'daily'.
I can't see why everyone got so exercised when they dropped the iPhone price. In the world of mobile phones, that always happens. My SE W880i was some silly price when it came out. I waited a couple of months, and got it free with a contract.
Whatever you buy, it will always be cheaper/better later. You pays your money, you takes your chances....
voice dialing, anyone? It is a phone after all...
Sort of an app, a camera app like on the iphone for the itouch with an attachable camera piece if possible
As a UK iphone user I would like to access the wonderful BBC radio and TV stations available through iPlayer, particularly the listen again capability. Surely an internet /Ipod device like the iPhone is ideal for this.
Slingplayer is at the top of my list, followed by voice dialing commands for hands free operation when driving (safety). Seamless access to my MSN email account, as well as Quicken.
I want 2 c a guitar hero like app. Kind of lyk the pocket guitar or tap tap revolution apps that u need 2 jailbreak ur iphone 2 get.
I'd like to see an integrated voice recorder/podcast upload client. That way, I can record a podcast and upload it all on the go!
Am I the only one who wants something as simple as the ability to take videos like every other cell phone out there?
IM baby!
I would need:
an office suite
a czech-english dictionary
worldmate
an exchange compatible email client
before I could possibly move over.
Give me Garageband Mobile edition please Apple. In fact whilst you're at it, get iMovie mobile too. I'm really looking forward to some decent games that actually take advantage of multitouch. Well, ive got the SDK so let's get started lol
Several developers including me are looking for iPhone app ideas. To help gather app ideas and talk about them I set up a quick web site. The site is http://www.iphoneappthink . if you want to share check out my site.
I am looking for a good call manager that can bar private calls and/or divert them to a different number...!
1. Call Manager like Callfilter for the Treo THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!!!
I can't make the full switch without it.
http://www.velocityware.com/callfilter/cfinfo.htm
Filter incoming calls based on phone number, name, category, blocked/no callerid, or company
Send unwanted calls to voicemail immediately or after a few rings, pickup and hang up on caller, ignore caller, or automatically answer
Filter SMS messages. Filter not only by phone number, but can also filter based on the email address that sent the SMS message.
___________________________________________________
2. Sling Player
3. IM - MSN Messenger
4. Call Screening/ Voicemail Screening - like http://www.talkplus.com/products/talkplus/voicemail_screening.html

I need urgently a call manager like this one for a Symbian mobile phone http://my-symbian.com/s60v3/software/applications.php?faq=1&fldAuto=73
This was the best apps that I used for my old Nokia.
just to be able to manage my calls, only to let emergency call in when sleep. if there is an app already, please let me know . video recording
NetNewsWire, Delicious Library and a proper Terminal :)
I'm not that bothered about a Terminal application (what would I do with it?) but I am so with you on NetNewsWire and Delicious Library. Aside from them and iChat (surely Apple's going to produce this themselves) I can't think of anything else that I would need and sensibly work on a phone.
Instant Messenging client (yahoo,aol,MSN support)
Mobile Office/work suite
Actual Games
Supra e-Key reader for opening lockboxes (real estate need)
Voice Note program
Podcasts added to wifi itunes store
Application to allow bluetooth file transfer (wireless pringtin of email)
Better e-mail clinet
Application to allow for Hard disk file storage
Expense Tracker Application
Gas Mileage Tracker Application (for business trips etc)
Myspace Application thats iPhone specific
iPhone Blog Application (other iPhone users can subscribe)
iPhone performace Application (various gauges and meters to determine performance at that time)
Horrorscope Application (get horrorscope information)
Application to better organize contacts (groups?)
Application to customize iphone (all menus, text and color schemes)
Magna Doodle
Would love to see medical apps on the device. Just got served by the multitude of Windows options (smartphone, professional... blah blah blah) and my programs don't work.
Just keen on someone getting user interface right... and giving me one device that does it all...
Amen to that. The only reason i don't have an iPhone right now is because I can't the med apps like Hippocrates on it. This is essential for any phone i get from now on... and I really want that phone to be an iPhone.
I agree as well. If the new SDK lets Skyscape port real offline versions of their reference software (plus Hippocrates, etc.), I would be much more inclined to get an iPhone. Oh, and a good PDF/eBook reader as well.
Some sort of television app
or music/video editing app
For us UK guys, the BBC iPlayer software is great, and being able to watch the tv shows FOR FREE on your iPod would be great!
Do you mean like SlingPlayerMobile since Apple allows it to play nice with Apple TV or do you mean something like CingularVideo/
Iplayer on the iphone would be awesome although unlikely.
checkbook integration with Quicken or Money via sync
Copy&Paste.app
MMS.app
bluetooth keyboard driver
attachable slide-out keyboard (would work eh?)
guitar tuner
native IM app
true GPS nav app
a good mail client
a good call manager
a good message manager
and more to add, but it's not worth it... did you read the symbian news?.. I just hope they won't drop the keyboards, or I'll really be dissapointed
*REAL* GPS. Either an apple supported dock connector dongle thing or bluetooth support. If they announced this for the iPhone, I'd order that same day.
The two things stoppoing me from buying one:
1. A checking/money management program.
2. Password Manager.
pretty boring I know. But they're both necessary for a lot of people.
Bob C., A checking/money management program and a Password Manager already exist for the iphone.
I'll second the vote for Quicken integration. Right now, that is one of the main things keeping me from switching to the iPhone. I use PocketQuicken to sync transactions from my Treo to my desktop.
Video conferencing! See link
http://www.createthefuturecontest.com/pages/view/entriesdetail.html?entryID=365
video conferencing would suck because there's only one camera.
ok dw i clicked your link
I'll throw my vote in for the Personal Finance manager with Quicken/Money sync. I sent an email to Steve Jobs with some suggestions for this. His response was that they're working on many of the things that I suggested. My advice is for all of you that want this to email the guy at sjobs@apple.com. I received a pretty quick response on a Saturday eve. Whether it was him or not I guess I'll never know but it did say "From Steve's iPhone".
As for the password manager, try 1Password (http://1passwd.com/). It actually syncs up to the iPhone really well using a secured, offline Safari interface. I have all of my passwords and credit card info in my iPhone. Again, the beauty of it is that it doesn't require for you to be online. Try it out.
the kind that bricks up the phone.
Maybe a GPS app made by apple except someone like Garmin or TomTom helped making it. Maybe copy and paste. Throw in some apps for AIM and yahoo IM. Wifi sharing through iTunes would be cool too. Keep the NES apps for sure. Maybe different internet browser support. And for the finishing touch... A built in lightsaber!!!!!!!!!!!!! JK 'bout that.
I want to see the apps which should have been on the iPhone in the first place develop by Apple and put on for FREE! We are still waiting/hacking for simple things however we should not be the one's to do Apple's developing dirty work for simple things, cut & past, IM, etc... That way their wont be any BS towards why the iPhone is locking up and no longer pristine.
Nice try Apple... Thanks for the SDK kit however we are still waiting for those Awesome iPhone apps. It's your product; you get to work... not us!
Epocrates - the pharm (drug) software that every stinking doctor with a Palm has... make it for the iphone (www.epocrates.com)
A way to import sms text messages from your old phone.
A way to forward text messages. (can you already?)
A way to send one text message to multiple people. (can you already?)
Elite Beat Agents!
OMG genius idea
I second that!!!!!!!!!!
Full Tilt Poker along with Sportsbook and Bodoglife apps
whoa whoa, easy there 12 step.
i hit 10 teamers like free throws
Maybe Windows Mobile 6...No exchange server support, what a killer
dumb suggestion, but a good point with exchange support
well, I was being facetious. Mainly, I would be happy with exchange support.
I would want to see an app that turns the iphone into a universal remote.
Without IR and the RF necessary for the devices you would want this for...that would pretty hard :P
At least give the iPhone a remote control app for the AppleTV or FrontRow on a Mac.
And when are A/V companies going to start including wi-fi and/or Bluetooth in their consumer-range A/V receivers so we can use devices like the iPhone as universal remotes? IR and RF are so last century...
Add 3G and GPS to the iPhone and you have the perfect all-in-one device: phone, iPod, mobile web browser, navigation system, and home theater system remote control.
Check out RemoteBuddy. It's pretty awesome and lets you control not just FrontRow, but almost anything on your Mac from the iPhone.
Goodlink please! If Apple and El Jobso really want to compete with RIM/Blackberry, the Treos, HTC, etc, they have to have Goodlink (or something that will interface with a Goodlink server) because there's no way I'm carrying two devices.
Oh, and same for BB Connect.
SKYPE - LOL
Definitely Skype.
I'd also like to win the lottery and cure cancer.
Bluetooth GPS!
DOOM !!!
and possibly... DOOM 2
Mmmmm SlingMobile on iPhone ^o^
Hells yeah. SlingMobile on iPhone would rock the house and hey there are rumors that at&t wants to marry SlingMedia's Mommy so this is totally a good call.
I concur!
Second well thirded. Yeah that we be great.
I'd love a BBC iPlayer, and with the announcement with the Cloud a few days ago (free use of BBC stuff on there wi0fi) it's well within reason?
But the Mac/Linux iPlayer features are to be done using flash and streaming, now d/ning. I know its better than nothing, but it means no use without wifi and also no iPhone/Touch love until they get some sort of flash compatibility.
dj turntable app please
Tetris. And Java support. Yeah I know that Java is slow and all, but I would still like the option
MS Exchange push email integration
I need exchange too! I want to ditch my blackberry.. I hate carrying 2 phones
The lack of Exchange support is killing me...I really need to sync up my calendar on the go. But iCal doesn't even sync from Exchange. I had to find an outside program (Groupcal) to help me along with that.
please, just give me a native IM client. That's all I ask.
Amen brotha'
Amen.
You bet!!!
iChat is an app that "wont" be a third party app, and the reason we didn't see it yet, is because Apple is waiting until it has iChat 4.0 for Windows ready, so they can ensure a seamless experience.
No proof exactly, just that my hands moved that way round my keyboard.
they won't release iChat because you would use the SMS feature less. Why spend money on a text when you can send an IM for free right?
@ Neutralajagadis
Well AT&T already has an extra $20.00 with the unlimited data plan...i dont see how a native IM client would hurt them too much
Because iChat in Leopard has SMS forwarding. No need for a spearatel IM Client.
games, ichat, voice recorder
Firefox.
And Flash Player (and Air) support
Medical dictionary ... All softwares from www.skyscape.com
anything VOIP would be schweet.
Skype, Gizmo and/or other VOIP applications
Sirius satellite radio app through both Wi-Fi and EDGE
I want (and everyone else should too) an Apple TV-like application so I can access my iTunes content either locally like the standard Apple TV or better, remotely over wifi.
That and a browser with better support for streaming video/audio, email app (for my iPod touch), Office document viewer (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)...
You might get a chance if slingplayer mobile gets onto iPhone.
