Nokia's 5 megapixel N82 with WiFi and GPS spotted?
There it is, the first spy shot of Nokia's N82. Don't remember this Espoo candybar? No worries, the last update was way back in May when news was first leaked. Back then, the N82 was rumored to pack quad-band GSM, 2100MHz HSDPA, a 2.4-inch 240x320 display, WiFi, GPS, FM Tuner and biggie 5 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lens. So until we hear otherwise, that's what we'll assume until the supposed announcement on November 2nd. Right, that's just 1 week from today.

Hey dont Nokias usually have the pencil button?
FRiC @ Oct 26th 2007 8:19AM
Most of the current Nokias have the pencil button on the side.
L @ Oct 26th 2007 8:31AM
Nope - the pencil button is on its way out...it was kinda redundant anyway.
andi @ Oct 26th 2007 8:37AM
redundant?.. the pencil/shift key was and is useful as hell!.. selecting, copy/paste, quick switching between alpha and num and so on
damn this looks like a sony-ericsson :(
Jon @ Oct 26th 2007 9:11AM
Copy and paste are now # on Nokia devices with no pencil key. Other functions are through the menu.
mike @ Oct 26th 2007 7:43AM
ugly as hell
shpidi @ Oct 26th 2007 7:46AM
Why Nokia? Why have you copied the buttons of SE-s latest designs? Very bad move..
LondonConsultant @ Oct 26th 2007 7:59AM
I agree. Those tiny buttons on the latest SEs are horrible to use, so I wouldn't bany phone with them. And this particular Nokia is also God damn ugly. Send the design team to the Artic for 30 days of night...
Jon @ Oct 26th 2007 9:20AM
This isn't the first Nokia phones to use those type of buttons. The N91 had them as did the 8850 (which was released in 1999). The 8910 had it (2003).
My brother had the 8850 back then and I didn't find the keys to be a problem. So unless you have fat fingers...
Chrisphillers @ Oct 26th 2007 10:10AM
SE copied Nokia older designer for phones, and now SE are going back to the older style or copying SE - they all copy each other!
holycow @ Oct 26th 2007 12:46PM
N91 had these kinda buttons too .. no ?
NightBlade @ Oct 26th 2007 8:10AM
The usual boring (to say the least) nokia design. God, is it me, or do their phones look almost identical?
Benson @ Oct 26th 2007 9:35AM
Yeah, but who buys a phone for it's style and distinctice appearance? Well, actually, a lot of people, but I couldn't care less. Functionality is what counts, and Nokias are pretty good that way.
BobTurbo @ Oct 26th 2007 9:38AM
It is a phone not a movie.
Ike Turner @ Oct 26th 2007 8:10AM
Obviously Looks like a chinese knock off, not a nokia ...
Chrisphillers @ Oct 26th 2007 8:16AM
Whether or not that is the finished product is a different matter - it certainly is the N82.
Oliver strano @ Oct 26th 2007 8:43AM
Awful.
Jason @ Oct 26th 2007 9:27AM
All those features in a unit that will probably sell for half the price of a N95... I'll take it!
Jason @ Oct 26th 2007 9:40AM
according to the mobile-review forums the specs will be:
Dimensions: 112 x 50.2 x 17.3 mm
Weight: 120 g
Display: 2.4"QVGA 240x320, 16M colors.
Camera: 5MPix, CZ optics, Autofocus, up to 20 x digital zoom. Xenon flash. Integrated camera protection.
Video: VGA 30fps.
HSDPA
wifi b/g with upnp
GPS, TV-out.
The UAP is out, the announcement is approaching.
Jon @ Oct 26th 2007 9:46AM
Very nice. It is like a N95, but in candy bar format. Price wise this should be somewhere between a vanilla N81 and N95.
Rik @ Oct 26th 2007 9:49AM
Actually, I think they're right now dumping stocks of the original N95 at a large discount through contract deals (in the Netherlands where I life at least). I just ordered such a deal (several shops are offering a similar deal)... Normally when I see a deal which looks interesting I calculate it through, taking interest cost into account and comparing it to the tarifs of subsriptions without a phone (and most of the time you see you actually pay more). If my calculations are correct (I assumed 5% interest) I just bought a N95 for almost 180 euros, which is roughly 230 dollars. It does make sense, with the nokia N95-8GB arround the corner, phones like this one being announced, and Samsung also announcing phones like the i550 and i560, and let's not forget WM en UIQ developments, that they want to get rid of existing stock.
Araz @ Oct 26th 2007 10:45AM
Rik, I live in the Netherlands too and would be very interested in getting the N95 for such a good price! Could you perhaps give a link to the webshop or some directions? Thank you!
Rik @ Oct 26th 2007 6:29PM
alloneword @ Oct 26th 2007 9:52AM
Looks a lot like an SE phone. Even sounds like one. CZ Optics, Xeno flash.
Chrisphillers @ Oct 26th 2007 9:57AM
It looks like an old Nokia to me - SE copied the old Nokia designs - well they all copy each other actually. Since when have SE have CZ optics? Nokia have for ages.
alloneword @ Oct 26th 2007 10:10AM
My bad.
For some reason I thought the k800i had a CZ lens.
Just got confused with all the products Sony do make with CZ lens. The Xenon flash is straight from the k800i.
xxx @ Oct 26th 2007 9:56AM
If that picture is no fake, I guess It's an early prototype. It doesn't have the new Nokia Icon theme that the E51 has.
Jon @ Oct 26th 2007 10:00AM
The new N81 and N95 8GB does not have the E51 icons.
Chrisphillers @ Oct 26th 2007 10:10AM
its most likely a prototype.
xxx @ Oct 26th 2007 10:28AM
Do you think they will different lines of Icons for N- and E-Series? I don't think so. The N95 8GB only got the guts updated, no the shell.
bachviet @ Oct 26th 2007 11:56AM
This phone has all the N95 specs except the form factor and the bigger screen (2.6" in the N95-1/N95-3 and 2.8" in the N95 8GB). However it has xenon flash, which is better than the LED flash, and lots of pple prefer candy bar style because of less moving parts = better built (hopefully). I think this will be priced at the N95-3 price ($600-$650).
Johan S @ Oct 26th 2007 1:11PM
I hate QVGA. Why couldnt they put a VGA or SVGA display on it? They're only slightly more expensive.
Fredster @ Oct 26th 2007 6:30PM
Not 2nd, a bit later than that...;)
BiG @ Oct 27th 2007 7:54PM
Ooooh, I've wanted one since May! Did NOT get the iPhone knowing I wanted this to replace my N73. Please, Nokia, late '07 release!
Yem @ Oct 27th 2007 10:15PM
Nice - that certainly checks all the boxes. I bet it loses Wifi, GPS or HSDPA before launch though. The perfect phone never comes out. I think it's the law or something.
CyberGypsy @ Nov 15th 2007 9:31PM
ugly....one ugly phone... iPhone looks much nicer!!!!
Daniel Spiegelman @ Nov 17th 2007 2:28PM
that look exactly the same as my w810i
