White PS2 with Singstar hitting store shelves

The venerable PlayStation 2 just turned seven years old, and getting all dressed up for the occasion -- that hot Ceramic White slim PS2 Singstar bundle we saw a while back should be hitting stores this weekend, with availability everywhere by November 4, according to Sony's PlayStation Blog. The $150 bundle includes Singstar Pop, a matching white DualShock 2, and two microphones -- just the thing to spice up those holiday parties.

Especially because the GPU is still closed. But I feel sorrier for 360 and Wii owners. They can't do anything productive /at all/.

Sony's gaming division has to make money somehow. Since the PS3 is bleeding it dead, so lets line up the wal mart shoppers and sell them a seven year old system.

HEY! Cant hate the player can only hate the game. I just dont see how this sales PS3s at all. I just dont see people who are just now buying a PS2 ponying up money for a PS3, but Sony has to make a profit.

It does not sell PS3s, at least not now. This bundle is aimed at the people wanting to buy a Wii or other family styled gaming. It is cheap enough that you can buy it for a six year old and not worry about them tearing it up. It is cute enough to buy for a 12 year old girl. etc....

The hope of course, is that between the price point and the game that comes with it this bundle will many copies this xmas. I do not think this bundle has anything to do with the PS3 but has everything to do with cashing in on the Wii phenomenon. I imagine that by now Sony is making quite a bit of profit on each PS2 sold.
