NVIDIA debuts cooler, cheaper, smaller GeForce 8800 GT
Even if it's smaller, cooler, and cheaper than its higher end brethren, that unfortunately doesn't mean it's better: the formerly G92-codenamed NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT sits in the middle of the 8800-series with a single slot configuration that uses 100 Watts less power than the top of the range model, but with a lower clock speed and six less "stream processors." It's a fair bit higher spec than the GTX and GTS models though, with the same "stream processor" (what the hell are these?) clock speed as the Ultra at 1500MHz, and a memory frequency of 900MHz. It also supports PCIe 2.0 and the PureVideo HD engine which offloads H.264 encoding onto the GPU. It sells for between $199-249, and should be available within the next few days at the usual online stores.

Cool! I was going to get OC 8800GTS. Maybe, for a few bucks more I'll two of these, via SLI!
Stream Processor have the ability to either be pixel shaders or vertex shaders depending on what is needed by the game.
Or geometry shaders.
Yea, i get you were joking. Im just being an ass.

Third time already.
NOBODY can say PC gaming is too expensive now.
yes they can...this option just makes it a little bit more affordable :D Definitely looking forward to this card!
I might wait until after Christmas when the prices level out and pick one of these up to replace my 8600GTS in my Dell. This looks like a killer deal.
Just imagine two of these cards in SLI - it'd definitely out-do the GTX for the same price as one and maybe not be super far behind the Ultra.
Anyone know if any of the 88xx cards allow video input? All I see are video out.As for this card, great price vs performance but isn't nvidia releasing some newer models soon?
Good Thing I held off on my new rig I was about to purchase & build last month. This is a sweet deal, but I can find the cheapest one for $260 at the usual places... hopefully it'll reach the $200 price point soon.
Lowest I've seen is $229 at Fry's

Stream processing is very new, and should be a technique which we will see used more often in the days to come. Check out what WikiPedia has to offer about the subject.

Umm, so does this mean the price is going to drop on the GTX? I could really stand to drop a second one of those in my comp before Crysis comes out.
Dear Nvidia,
Thank you.
