Wing who? T-Mobile today has announced the long-rumored
Shadow, a Windows Mobile 6 Standard device that looks not just better than its Wing stablemate, but arguably better than just about any comparably-equipped smartphone on the market today. Besides the "slick, slider design" and a juiced version of the standard Windows Mobile 6 UI, the Shadow features a rotating jog dial front and center, 2 megapixel camera, WiFi, and a new version of T-Mobile's myFaves interface allowing users to call, email, text, or MMS the peeps in their "fave five." just the first in a whole line of upcoming Shadow-branded phones for the carrier -- a line that'll be focusing on multimedia connectivity and slanting the work / life balance a little more to the "life" side than some of HTC's and T-Mobile's other smart devices (ahem, Wing, we're looking straight at you). Grab the Shadow starting this Wednesday in "sage" or "copper" for a surprisingly reasonable $149.99 on two-year contract.

HTC Polaris is a Pocket PC mobile (with touchscreen) and has no slider keypads.
I don't see why you keep comparing it to Wing. They are totally different. Wing has WM6 Pro (touch screen), while this shadow has WM6 standard.
I think they're harshing on the Wing because it compares favorably to their beloved iPhones.
Agreed. This phone is completely different than the wing. It looks more comparable to the Blackberry Pearl.
Hah I just ordered my dash. Shadow looks nice, but I don't think I'd be able to deal with the keypad.
Wow, I was really liking the look until I saw the keypad- it's got two too many columns of buttons, at least for me personally. I really don't see the problem with T9, despite the admittedly annoying flaws, works pretty well for traditional keypads. Other than that, I'll take that sexy silver one, please. And make the keypad match color.
Exactly. With the width, they should have gone with a number pad.

The clickwheel might replace the touchscreen, but they aren't even remotely similar. Nice try.
This is Windows Mobile STANDARD, or smartphone. You want a WM6 phone with a touch screen you want Windows Mobile Pro.
One's like a 4 seater sedan and the others like 2 seater. You buy the one that's appropriate to your needs.
The phone does come with bluetooth (go Google the specs) so you can use a BT headphone set. And it does come with a hands free set so it probably has a 2.5mm jack; which is standard for phones, so get an adapter.
GPS is your only good point, but in this price range you're just dreaming. Sweet dreams though ;-)

Interesting... from what I read, the myFav5 only includes anytime/free domestic long distance calls. But if it includes texts, that would be sweet

Yes T-Mobile has WiFi, and for just $9.99 a month (in select areas) you can sign up for their new WiFi program that lets you make your house a T-Mobile WiFi zone. This enables you to make all the calls you want (incoming as well) for free, as long as you are within range of your WiFi signal. Essentially T-Mobile is trying to be your all in one communications dealer.
Are we sure about the WiFi. The T-mobile site makes no mention of it.
Yeah. A friend of mine works for TMobile, he told me it has WiFi but no UMA. Also, he told me this phone was going to be $400 and tried to sell me a barely-used one for 200. That bastard.

i like the face of this new phone but the keypad its ugly it's so many nice cellphones like the motorola rizr z8 its out in europe and can work here for t-mobile but i dont think they will come up to usa and the lg prada ke850 its a nice touch screen phone and it works with t-mobile also but i dont no why t-mobile never got a nice phones....
Im just going say that I love mine. I got mine about 3 weeks ago. Ive had the pearl for about a year before and love the key pad. Granted the colors are a little off. But the scroll wheel is awesome. I can watch my movies in wide screens and scroll through chapters with the wheel. It is compatible with up to a 4gb card. I run the bluetooth to my s9. I can even stream my music to it from my home computer via wifi. I just really wish it had the hotspot at home/uma feature.
