Leopard is on track to be Apple's most successful OS ever. According to Apple, Leopard sold two million copies in its first weekend, "far outpacing" Tiger -- Apple's previous best selling OS. Anyone have Vista's first 2.5 days sales numbers available? Come on, it's always fun to compare.
Windows Vista sales in excess of 20 Million made in the first month...thus in 2.5 days they would have sold an estimate of 1.666 Million copies. Windows XP was 17 Million in 2 months. Microsoft have a lot more issues to deal with when releasing a new OS...like your security. There are more virusses on a Windows System than with Apple because hackers want to rule the world, and control everything....thus the reason why you haven't heard of a geek developing a virus that can destroy all the macs, because he would be the laughing stock of the world. Microsoft needs more time to develop new and interesting ways to keep the bad guys out of your PC, that is why they have less time thinking of adding useless trinkets to their interface so they can be called advanced. If Apple really wanted a considerable market share they would make their OS compatible with normal PC's...and maybe that 10% would grow to 40%...and then we could see how "secure" it is when it suffers the onslaught of the hacking world. I don't believe that Leopard is any safer than Vista. Vista as I have seen is pretty secure when online, with Automatic Malware protection and with a decent anti-virus(avast!) program you would be safe from 90% of attacks...the other 10% is user related. Windows Vista will outnumber Apple Leopard, and when SP2 or SP3 comes out in two years time 90 out of 100 PC users will either be using a pirated copy or a genuine version of Vista. We all know in another 12 months XP will be outdated, and 90% of software will be Vista only (well most of the games due to DX10) So if you're thinking of buying a Mac pc for $600 which you could assemble yourself for $300, think of the time when you will lose out on most of the next generation applications that will roll out...luckily you can convert your Mac to Vista..but whats the point....the hardware will be too outdated. So stick to PC...and if you want speed and power, buy a PC for more than $500, you could get one worth of Vista for that price. And why would you buy a Mac with a DX9 compatible GPU when you can get a PC with a DX10 GPU for the same price...and play the uber cool Crysis. Sorry Mac users, it requires DX10 (Windows Vista) to run most of it's features...or a DX9 XP. You can go home now and play Finding Nemo on your Mac.
