The biggest problem with dogs is that
most aren't robotic enough. Thus we thank the good lorf for
Aibo and her wisdom to send us this, the JooZoo pet MP3 player. The $2,000 diamond and gold player from Innobitz is for
Japanese Korean consumers convinced that Champ prefers "stimulating and relaxing" music to the taste of its own sack. Surely this will just result in an obnoxious pet with the huffy sense of entitlement of a faux-celeb -- a robot of another sort. Before and after video after the break.

Seems rather pointless to me. Maybe i don't quite understand the niche pet accessories market.

this article sent me back. I had an irish setter (as pictured) named Champ that died a few years ago. What are the chances? I've never since met a dog named Champ.

Agreed. I had a good laugh over this, causing a bit of attention from co-workers.

I completely agree with Chris and Marshall, "Champ prefers "stimulating and relaxing" music to the taste of its own sack." Absolute brilliance Ricker!
Engadget should start nominating for funniest posts and then have us vote. You people have me laughing out loud on a regular basis.

Apple needs to hit this emerging market stat. They really need to shape up or they will fall behind.

You know... dogs may or may not like to be soothed with certain sounds and gentle music and whatnot. But I'll gaurentee it that that dog would get a lot more enjoyment out of a nice brisk walk, a game of fetch or a belly rub and scratch behind the ears.
All the money and gadgets in the world will not make your dog as happy as some attention and play time. Of course, you could use that money to hire someone to walk and play with your dog, but if you do, don't be surprised when the dog shows a lot more appreciation for your hired dog-tender than it does for you. They don't really care so much that you footed the bill.

I think that this is true of humans as well.

Diamondhead's "Am I Evil" playing from my Rottweiler's collar.

I'm probably going to have to mention the good lorf in many an Engadget comment from here on out. (Not to beat a dead horse, but... that or the taste of its own sack.)
