Keepin' it real fake, part XCIV: Act-429 PMP puts on a RAZR2 act

Another unimaginative PMP for you this weekend, which happens to vaguely rip-off the design of the RAZR2. Nope, this doesn't have a phone stuck inside: it's simply a regular little PMP that features a 2-inch screen and controls that mimic the look of Motorola's flagship. It also has an FM tuner, a speaker -- hey, at least you could pretend that this is a speakerphone -- and e-Book and gaming "functionality." Don't expect to see this in your local Wal-Mart anytime soon.

So lemme get this right - you make a large screen PMP that is rectangular, it's a copy of the Razr phone which is not a PMP with a large screen?

So any rectangular PMP is a ripoff of the Razr?

I don't get it. I think it's a pretty cool looking PMP, but a Razr ripoff it's not.

Acctually I see a remarkable resemblance to the RAZR 2 when closed. Although I would not go as far as to say it is a knock off for only one reason. It is not a clamshell.

Seriously, the RAZR2 has three buttons in a straight line, and this one has a very different configuration with one button outlined in the middle. It's a definitely a huge stretch to put it in the Keeping It Real Fake series - why can't it be a real PMP?

Well, it's from China, and engadget has to perpetuate the idea that everything from China is a ripoff. Then they will argue that well most of the time it's true, if you want to call them out on it. Regardless of the fact that they would indeed by wrong here, and most of the time doesn't equate to all the time. Anyways, the breakdown is usually this, touchscreen peripherals = ripoff of Apple iphone/touch, rectangular case with circular controls = ripoff of ipod classic. Sometimes, even when Apple ripoffs other people's idea, if those people being ripoff continues to use their idea, they are ripping off Apple. Case being Sony's notebook with the depressed latch(being the first to use it), engadget argues that the notebook was an Apple ripoff because of that. So you should take what they say with a grain of salt and just look at the stats, because what they say is hardly logical.

To be fair iEngadget is just doing what it always does, copying the stories it finds on the net without doing any of their own research into the story or even giving the story any thought other than to slightly change the wording to justify their pay.

This is new how? Seen this ages ago, I have one in fact. Not half as bad as I expected, the only real drawback is battery life.
