Onda's VX888 PMP gets its shine on
Onda's not exactly known for its originality, and even though the VX888 doesn't do much to buck the trend, it's not a half bad media player on paper. Aside from featuring an oh-so-trendy chrome backside, a glossy face and a strange connection with Absolut, this unit boasts a two-inch LCD, 1GB of storage, an FM tuner, photo viewer, built-in equalizer and support for XviD / AVI / FLV / APE / FLAC / WMA / MP3 files. Additionally, this player reportedly utilizes Microsoft's PlayFX for 3D headphone effects and volume normalizing, but we're not entirely sure we believe the claim. Nevertheless, those in China can press their luck for just 299 CNY ($40).

I was expecting another KIRF article and the inevitable comparison to iSomething.
Seriously, you people have no clue, Onda players can be easily purchased online and you don't have to be in China. And they're decent players too. I have a touchscreen Honey and it's nice enough. Seems to me Onda's trying to be a cut above other Chinese MP3 manufacturers that go by generic names and have no web presence. Check out their website and inform yourselves before babbling the usual crap about Chinese products.

Could you give me a link? I can't seem to find Onda's site...

You probably want the English version though...

Yeah, they're definitely "trying to be a cut above other Chinese MP3 manufacturers" ...

All this bashing is all a case of "oh, crap, I paid too much for stuff I don't need" syndrome.
When you're sitting there with your $300 iPod, you realize that other people can do basically all the stuff you use your player for, but for a fraction of the prize and you start with the hate crimes.
I've been there, but now I'm actually using an Onda VX878 and everything's honky dory. Don't beat yourselves up...

...or better yet, "when in doubt" use your Chinese language skills as Wikipedia is liable to point you to an Italian mobile phone provider rather than the Chinese DAP maker in question:

If you're interested and can't make it over to the Motherland, this place sells Onda players and is frequently cited by DAP aficionados:

(never used them; know nothing of their business practices)
