Tiny USB-powered desk vacuum totally doesn't suck

Forgive the pun, but we feel that's the best way to describe this particular gadget: for only $19.99, a "USB desk vacuum" can be yours, and you can say goodbye to those photo-perfect bits of grit that always seem to accumulate next to your laptop. More than likely it'll break after five minutes, just like every other unamusing office gift you'll receive this holiday season. Coming to a USB-powered trash can near you!

That vacuum really sucks.
Kyle Simmons @ Nov 3rd 2007 10:05PM
I'm confused by the title: Are they implying that it doesn't suck (metaphorically), or that it actually doesn't suck (literally), in which case, I don't want one...
nate @ Nov 3rd 2007 10:17PM
let's keep it simple:
do not want

I'd like one that blows...to get the stuff out of my keyboard...canned air is expensive...that's not too much to ask for is it? haha

why the hell do people think USB is a power source ?! i'm tired of seeing USB drink chillers and USB fans and all that crap. there is such a thing called batteries, and there's wonderful other thing called power outlets that are ubiquitous. in fact, you're more likely to find a power outlet than a USB port! just look around your room! isn't it magic?
i once saw a USB shaver on engadget. where the hell are you going to be shaving that there isn't a power outlet? in the seat of an airplane? couldn't you just walk over to the bathroom where there is one?
David W. @ Nov 3rd 2007 10:44PM
Splat, if it's for cleaning your KEYBOARD...like I was asking about, then it would make sense :D

Or better yet, why don't we have a standardized low voltage power receptacle? Kind of like what the outdated 12v cigarette plug is, just a small plug to power all the little stuff we have (iPods, cell phones, tiny vacuums, etc)
Lonnie McClure @ Nov 4th 2007 12:41PM
USB has become the default low voltage power outlet, by virtue of being ubiquitous.
Unfortunately, as it was not designed with this in mind, it is someone lacking (providing only 500 ma @ 5 volts). Still, it is better than nothing, and the day will arrive when you will not have to worry about what charger/AC adapter goes with which device, as they will all use a USB connection.
weeliano @ Nov 3rd 2007 10:12PM
This one wins for it's attractive design! Much better looking than those run of the mill mini vacs. Great conversation piece for the office hack.
"Looky at what those cleaning Elves left behind!"
:D

I wonder where one gets the replacement bags....
o29 @ Nov 4th 2007 1:35AM
That's of course assuming it lasts long enough to fill up one bag.
ark_v2 @ Nov 4th 2007 1:50AM
I just can0t imagine myself using that to clean the coffee beside my laptop. That¿d just...weird...

Never in million years did I think that the Gadget Show (uk tv show) would be reporting on something a week before Engadget! :)
Reader @ Nov 4th 2007 4:25AM
I would order that right fricking now if only it was 5 bucks.
CDN Crockett @ Nov 4th 2007 6:33AM

Brian @ Nov 5th 2007 9:17AM
So do I have to empty my windows recycle bin after using this?
